Race 1: Hustler BM65 H’cap – 1300m

MISHNAH – Began awkwardly.  Hung in near the 250m. Jockey Wiggins was harmlessly dislodged on return to the enclosure. Subsequently deemed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.

CRUISE POWER – Began moderately before progressing forward to race outside the leader.

MUSTARRID – Rider N. Day was obliged to steady from heels near the 1200m, then overraced in the early and middle stages.  Hung in under pressure over the final 300m and  bumped by MISHNAH near the 250m.

LAMERICAN – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

POINT FORWRAD – When asked to comment regarding the gelding’s performance, jockey C. Jokic stated she was very disappointed with its effort, and noted the horse felt a little flat in its performance and only ran on moderately over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer O. Cairns was advised to notify the stewards of anything that  comes to light in the coming days that may have had a bearing on the poor performance.

Stephens requested to view the start of the race to consider if his mount was afforded a fair start.  Stewards, after reviewing the matter, were satisfied that STREAMLINER was afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s numbers.  A post-race veterinary examination determined the filly had some small abrasions to its nose, with no other apparent abnormalities.

MISSGOODYTWOSHOES – Reared as the start was effected. Overraced in the early stages when restrained to a rearward position.

Race 4: Mojo Maiden Plate  1200m

Correct weight was delayed when L. Tilley, rider of the 2nd place getter, SANTA ANITA, requested to view the stewards’ patrol film over the final 150m, following which he lodged a protest against FRUGAL being declared the winner, alleging interference. After considering the evidence tendered by both riders, stewards were of the view that whilst the margin was a nose, stewards noted that both horses had shifted marginally and the interference suffered had no material effect on the finishing positions and stewards therefore dismissed the objection and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings.

MIGHTY MEERKAT – Slow into stride.

THE GROGFATHER – Slow into stride.
