General

As N. Seymour was unable to fulfil his engagements, changes were made as per the race day summary sheet. Jockey Seymour was reprimanded under AR127(1).

The following horses, which competed in the past 7 days, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were passed fit to race; Cider Apple, Raw Instinct, Invisible Girl, Vamparina.


Race 1: Smartstate Rentals QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1200m

STARFILLY – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Raced ungenerously in the early stages.

REAL ANA – In the vicinity of the 800m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DACXI KABOOM, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice E. Smith, rider of DACXI KABOM, was reprimanded under AR131(a).

DACXI KABOOM – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

IMALI – Hung out throughout the event.



BERNIE BEEL – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J. Manzelman was advised that BERNIE BEEL, who was beaten 35.5 lengths, would be required to trial competitively prior to a future race start.

Following the running of Race 1, stewards observed Ms A. Warry, who was officiating as the Clerk of the Scales, being in possession of a betting slip relating to a runner engaged in Race 1. After inquiring into the matter, Ms Warry advised stewards that the betting slip belonged to her and as such was in breach of AR156 which reads;

If a person has a pecuniary interest in the result of a race, that person is not permitted to act in an official capacity as Steward, veterinary surgeon, handicapper, Judge, Starter, Clerk of the Course, Clerk of the Scales, farrier, barrier attendant or timekeeper, or as an assistant or deputy to any of those positions in relation to that race.

Stewards acting under AR21(h), removed Ms Warry from her duties on the day and an inquiry into the matter was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.

Race 2: TAB Maiden Plate - 1560m

PRINCE NUTCRACKER – Jumped away awkwardly and raced ungenerously in the early stages.

STEADY STAR – Hampered on jumping away and as a result was slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight.

DREAM LAD – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

WINDOW SEAT – Raced wide without cover throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Following the running of Race 2 jockey B. Pengelly was examined by the ambulance officers and was ruled unfit to fulfil his remaining engagements. Riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet. Jockey Pengelly was advised that a medical clearance would be required prior to returning to riding.


Race 3: Airless Spray Service Mackay Benchmark 50 H’cap – 1050m

Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards and Trainers representative Trainer T Cook to review the patrol footage in relation to SHE’S OUR RIPPA being afforded a fair start. It was ascertained that as the start was effected, SHE’S OUR RIPPA reared dislodging Jockey A Butler. As both Stewards and Trainer T Cook were satisfied that SHE’S OUR RIPPA was afforded a fair start and dislodged Jockey Butler after the start was effected due to its own mannerisms, correct weight was declared.
Trainer’s representative T. Cook was advised that SHE’S OUR RIPPA would be required to gain a barrier certificate prior to a future race start. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

NINEONEONE – In the vicinity of the 800m had to take evasive action to avoid the heels of the riderless horse. Hung out under pressure in the straight.

PRICKLES – Rider reported his mount hung out from the vicinity of the 500m, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.

CSARDAS – Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that CSARDAS would be required to trial competitively in an official barrier trial prior to accepting a future race start. Mr Manzelmann advised that CSARDAS would now be retired.

FAVOUR OF GOD – When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer J Manzelmann advised that he was not surprised with todays performance as the mare had been competing in stronger quality races and was dropping back to its grade today. He added that FAVOUR OF GOD had pleased in its work leading into the event and expected a strong showing.


Race 4: Gina T Hair & Beauty Benchmark 50 H’cap – 1050m

RAINBOW SPARKLES – In the vicinity of the 800m made the turn awkwardly and shifted out, becoming awkward on the heels of PETITE ELLE for a number of strides, and continued to hang out rounding the home turn.

PETITE ELLE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Hung in when placed under pressure in the straight.

SCARY SPICE – Raced wide throughout the event.

STELLA STARLITE – Trainer J. Heelan was advised that STELLA STARLITE would be required to trial competitively to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to a future race start after being beaten 30.7 lengths. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Mr Heelan advised that STELLA STARLITE would be sent for a spell.



Race 5: Starcut Flowers Benchmark 69 H’cap – 1050m

The start of this race was delayed for approximately 3 minutes owing to HIDDEN GODDESS having to be replated behind the barriers.

HIDDEN GODDESS – Underwent a veterinary examination after having to be replated behind the barriers and was passed fit to start. Approaching the 200m became awkward in its stride after racing tight to the inside of HOLDIN’ MY OWN, which hung in. A post race veterinary examination revealed a small laceration to the off hind leg.

CHEZBLACK – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed mild signs of tying up.

HOLDIN’ MY OWN - Overraced in the early and middles stages and laid in under pressure in the straight.

I DID IT AGAIN – In the vicinity of the 800m raced in restricted room for a number of strides.

JETS CRACKER – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

MIA HOST – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

MR TINDALL – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

SWEET SURPRISE – Raced wide throughout.

FRUGAL – Raced wide throughout. Jockey A. Butler stated that after not showing its usual early gate speed was unable to cross and as a result raced 3 wide outside the lead throughout the event. He added when asked for a finishing effort on straightening his mount weakened noticeably and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.


Race 6: Autobarn Mackay Ratings Band 0-58 H’cap – 1200m

INVISIBLE GIRL – Was restrained from a wide barrier to take up a position at the rear of the field.

WOTSIZNAME – Knuckled shortly after jumping away. Became awkwardly placed on heels on entering the home straight, and whilst being restrained shifted in, tightening the running of ACT OF BRAVERY.

CINCO STAR – Hampered shortly after jumping away whilst racing in restricted room and as a result had to be steadied. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift wider to improve into clear running.

LUCKY BEE – Had to be restrained after improving on to the heels of WOTSIZNAME in the vicinity of the 800m.

ACT OF BRAVERY – Became awkwardly placed on heels on entering the home straight after WOTSIZNAME shifted in whilst being restrained. On entering the home straight was disappointed for a narrow run to the inside of ZOLLIKON MISS and as a result was obliged to steady after persisting for the run for a number of strides.

LORD LAURIE – Momentarily inconvenienced on entering the home straight by CINCO STAR, which shifted out to improve.

KAHUNA – When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer N. Seymour stated that KAHUNA had pleased in its work leading up to today’s event and was impressed with its last start at Mackay, only being beaten 3 lengths, and, in his opinion, took benefit from being able to race in a more forward position. Stewards noted his explanation.


Race 7: Barcam Electrical QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1200m

MAN O’ROSS - Trainer M. Geaney was fined the sum of $100 under LR67 for the late declaration of W. D’Avila as the rider of the horse.

FANAAR – Slow to begin. In the vicinity of the 1000m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of VAMPARINA, which was hampered. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

POUND FOR POUND – Approaching the 1000m shifted in and away from TABATHA MISS, which shifted in before being corrected.

MYZABOOM – Approaching the 1000m was hampered by VAMPARINA, which was carried in by POUND FOR POUND, which shifted in and away from TABATHA MISS.

BUSH BEAT ROCKET – Approaching the 1000m had to be checked and became awkward in its stride when being restrained to avoid the heels of MYZABOOM, which was carried in by VAMPARINA, which in turn was carried in by POUND FOR POUND, which shifted in and away from TABATHA MISS.

ZIGGI ROCKS – In the vicinity of the 1000m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of VAMPARINA, which was hampered.

TABATHA MISS – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.


Race 8: Casu Jacks Open H’cap – 1300m

FRATELLINO – Underwent a prerace veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

PROANE – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.

LAST CHANCE – In the vicinity of the 1200m had to be restrained after improving onto heels. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

CRAFTY COP – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.


Race 9: CBG Partners Mackay Benchmark 75 H’cap – 1800m

FUN TICKETS – Slow into stride.

PLANET WARRIOR – Jumped away awkwardly.

ELLE A WALKING – In the vicinity of the 1200m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of I CAN I WILL I AM. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

LE DUDE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

ART ATTACK – Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
