GENERAL
 
BREAK MY STRIDE, CRAFTY COP, ANARCHY and LEFTKAS ISLAND underwent pre race veterinary checks after competing in the past 7 days and were passed fit to start.
 
As N Day and P Cullen were unable to attend today’s meeting, replacements were permitted as per the raceday summary. P Cullen was advised a medical would be required prior taking rides.
 
Trainer R Vale was found guilty of a charge under AR251(1)(b)(i) in that he had in his vehicle two used syringes and was subsequently fined $500. In determining penalty, stewards were comfortably satisfied the syringes had not been used on any runners engaged at today’s meeting. R Vale’s runners today were all subject to pre race testing.
 
 
Race 1:TAB QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD H’CAP – 1050m
 
BERNIE BEEL – Jumped away awkwardly shifting out contacting IMALI. Hampered shortly after jumping away by SING FOR VIOLET which rolled in when insufficiently clear. Jockey A Butler, rider of SING FOR VIOLET, was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future.
 
IMALI – Hampered on jumping away and as a result was slow into stride. Approaching the 600m, had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of MAGIC IN ME. Hung out rounding the home turn. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the filly.
 
MAGIC IN ME – Raced in restricted room over the final 200m, to the inside of PALATE, which laid in under pressure.

PALATE – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Race 2:  SMART STATE VEHICLE RENTALS MAIDEN H’CAP– 1050m
 
ATZENI – Approaching the 600m, was momentarily inconvenienced and had to shift wider on the track to avoid the heels of HIGHLY INFLUENTIAL.
 
ROADHOUSE – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
BUATSI – Rider P Romeo reported that his mount hung in throughout the event which placed him at a disadvantage. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
CAPTAIN FOX – Jumped away awkwardly shifting in abruptly contacting MORE GEE. In this incident, CAPTAIN FOX had its hindquarters turned and became awkward in its stride. Raced wide throughout.
 
SHEZASHOOTINGSTAR – Slow to begin. On entering the home straight, was awkwardly placed on the heels of STARSONIC and was unable to improve into clear running until the 200m. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
CHEESY ROCKET – A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised a warning would be placed on the record of CHEESY ROCKET in relation to its competitiveness. Trainer J Manzelmann stated CHEESY ROCKET would be leaving his stable.
 
HIGHLY INFLUENTIAL – Approaching the 600m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of ENCUMBERED SOUL which shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of STARSONIC.
 
MORE GEE – Hampered on jumping away by CAPTAIN FOX which shifted in abruptly and had to be restrained as a result.
 
ENCUMBERED SOUL – Approaching the 600m, had to be steadied after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of STARSONIC and as a result, shifted wider on the track hampering HIGHLY INFLUENTIAL. Hung out under pressure in the straight placing its rider at a disadvantage. Trainer J Campeao was advised a warning would be placed on the record of ENCUMBERED SOUL in relation to hanging.
 
Race 3: ELYCE SMITH CLASS 6 PLATE– 1560m
 
The start of the race was delayed 5 minutes due to a delay at an interstate meeting.
 
LE DUDE (NZ) – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
POTEMKIN – Rider B Appo reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding throughout the event and became concerned with the action of POTEMKIN over the concluding stages and elected to not place his mount under over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer R Vale reported that POTEMKIN would now be leaving his stable.
 
JUSTALAD – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow away as a result.
 
RESORT – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
DON'T DOUBT LARA – Overraced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight and approaching the 200m had to shift wider after becoming awkwardly placed on heels.
 
FAVOR OF GOD – Restrained shortly after jumping to obtain a position closer to the rail.
 
Race 4:  BRAD PENGELLY BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1300m
 
MEATBALL – Jumped awkwardly.
 
EMSHALKY – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
INVISIBLE GIRL – Raced wide throughout. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Raced in restricted room to the inside of ALL STAR ROCKET over the concluding stages.
 
GOOD CATCH (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider S Wiseman reported her mount felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
THE DECKERAIDER – Rider B Appo was fined $300 under AR211 in that he returned to scale in excess of half a kilo overweight.
 
SFILZA – Overraced in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
EXELANT MOSH – Was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2.31pm after it was found to be lame in the near hind leg. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on EXELANT MOSH be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 2.31 pm:
 
5 cents in the dollar for the win #3
2 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
12 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #2
11 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #5
 
Trainer B Dale was advised EXELANT MOSH would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next start.
 
Race 5:  CHANNEL SEVEN MACKAY BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1300m
 
MR TINDALL – Jumped away awkwardly. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift wider to improve into clear running near the 200m.
 
CELEBRATION DAY – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
EROE – Raced wide throughout.
 
DJEBEL READY – When questioned regarding the performance, rider A Butler stated he was instructed to lead in todays’ event, but due to the strong early pace of the race, elected to settle in a position behind the lead. He added his mount travelled well throughout the event, however on entering the home straight, DJEBEL READY failed to show its usual finishing effort and even though the mare felt sound, as such, elected to not place the mare under pressure over the final 200m. Trainer R Vale concurred with instructions provided to rider A Butler, and added that the mare had pleased in its work leading into today’s event but believed that DJEBEL READY was disadvantaged in not being able to lead and dictate the pace of the race. The inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed to allow stewards to examine the betting records in relation to the event.
 
REEF MASTER (NZ) – On return to scale Jockey G Goomany weighed in in excess of half a kilogram underweight. Acting under the provisions of AR209(2)(a) REEF MASTER was disqualified from the event, and correct weight was declared. At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey Goomany could offer no tangiable excuse in how he lost the weight other then that he lost fluid following weighing out for the event. Jockey G Goomany plead guilty to a charge of AR209(2)(b) and was fined $1000.
 
OSMOND – Held up for clear running from approaching the 200m and was obliged to shift in to improve into clear running.
 
SCARY SPICE – Rider B Appo reported that he became concerned with the action of SCARY SPICE over the concluding stages and therefore elected to not place his mount under any further pressure. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer P Duncan was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to its next start.
 
GETOUT OF MY NEIGH (NZ) – Rider C. Jokic was reprimanded for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, being two more than permissible under the rule.
 
 
Race 6:  JOHN MANZELMANN CLASS 4 H’CAP– 1200m
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 2 minutes due to ACT OF BRAVERY needing to be resaddled.
 
TA CHANSON – Overraced in the early stages.
 
FUN TICKETS – Raced in restricted room on entering the home straight to the inside of LORD LAURIE and was unable to obtain clear running until the 200m.
 
BRAD – Overraced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
TARTUFO BIANCO – When questioned regarding the poor performance, Rider B Appo stated that the mare failed to travel throughout the event and became concerned with the action when placed under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer T Smith was advised a veterinary certificate must be provided prior to the mare’s next start.
 
DON'T DOUBT MAEVE – An inquiry was adjourned into G Watson’s use of the whip.
 
TELL EVERYBODY – Raced wide throughout.
 
ACT OF BRAVERY – Jumped awkwardly. Rider Zoe White was reprimanded for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, being one more than permissible under the rule.
 
LORD LAURIE – Knuckled on jumping. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
Race 7: TA CHANSON OPEN H’CAP – 1050m
 
RAIDEN – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
OUR BOY PENDLES – Jumped away awkwardly almost dislodging its rider. On entering the home straight, was disappointed for a narrow run to the inside of ARRARAC and as a result raced in restricted room and was unable to fully tested at any stage.
 
LAST CHANCE – Slow to begin. Approaching the 600m, had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of OUR BOY PENDLES. Approaching the 200m, was disappointed for a run between ARRARAC and EL SHADAY, which laid in under pressure and as a result, shifted wider to improve into clear running.
 
PALLADIAN – Jumped away awkwardly contacting the inside barrier partition.
 
CRAFTY COP – Slow into stride.
 
DISTRICT – Overraced in the early stages. Approaching the 600m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of LAST CHANCE.
 
Race 8:HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY GINGER MANZELMANN BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP– 1800m
 
ELLE A WALKING – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
BROMES – Raced ungenerously throughout the event and became awkward in its stride when making the crossing. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from the thumps.
 
ANARCHY (NZ) – Approaching the 500m, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of ELLE A WALKING which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice Marnu Potgieter plead guilty to a charge under AR131(a) in that he shifted in when insufficiently clear and his license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 days to commence at midnight 20th August and to conclude midnight 26th August 2020.
 
EMILY'S SONG – Rider Z White was fined $300 for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, being one more than permissible under the rule.
