SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
CLERMONT 10TH OCTOBER – RACE 2
 
ALL NATIVE - Trainer G Bell reported that although the mare had pulled up well from its disappointing perforamce, she had samples of bloods sent away for analysis which showed the mare to have low iron and protein levels. She further stated that she had since had the mare treated and would continue with its campaign.
 
Race 1: S.H. TAIT & CO Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
Alsaurusfirst – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey N Day stated that the gelding who was racing first up this preparation would derive benefit from today’s run. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Drogon – Raced wide throughout. Trainer K McGovern was fined the sum of $100 under AR106(1) for presenting DROGON without winkers.
 
Enraged – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the middle stages.
 
Mr Palomino – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Annmarie – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Balnagal – Approaching the 700m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of MOGALAKWENA and had to be steadied.
 
New Secret – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
Dr Neigh – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 2: MCDONALD MURPHY MACHINERY QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1100 metres
 
Zeblan – Slow into stride.
 
Cracker Essgee – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride. Laid out throughout the event.
 
Sir Archibald – Jockey A Sewell was examined by Queensland Ambulance Officers after being dislodged in the parade ring and was cleared to fulfill his engagements. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Trainer I Shaw was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding in regards to its pre-race manners.
 
Cat In The Raine – Raced wide in the early stages. Laid out under pressure in the straight. Rider S Wiseman reported that her mount felt flat and failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Struman – Passing the 600m, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of BETTER THAN SILVER which shifted in marginally. Apprentice M Potgieter rider of BETTER THAN SILVER, was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts when they shift ground in future.
 
Race 3: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1560 metres
 
Drumshow – Apprentice E Bell pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(5) of excessive whip use, in that she used her whip on 17 occasions, and her license to ride in races was suspended for 7 days, to commence at midnight 22 October 2020 and to expire on midnight 29 October 2020.
 
Upper Delight – When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey A Butler stated that the gelding failed to travel at any stage. Trainer J Wehlow could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance but reported that UPPER DELIGHT would now be leaving his stable. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Husson's Shout – Trainer K McGovern’s explanation for the late rider was accepted. Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Street Rogue – Stood flat footed as the start was affected and as a result was slow into stride. Trainer O Cairns was advised that STREET ROGUE would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Combattant De Rue – had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight and approaching the 200m had to be steadied after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of GETOUT OF MY NEIGH (NZ) and as a result was unable to be fully tested in the run to the finish.
 
Race 4: SMARTSTATE RENTALS Class 4 Plate 1560 metres
 
Doom – On entering the home straight was hampered and became awkward in its stride after being tightened for running by SCENT OF FEAR, who was carried out by VAMPERINA, who was taken out by SOLDATI, which laid out rounding the home turn. Apprentice M Potgieter, rider of SOLDATI, was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts when they shift ground.
 
Kev's Lad – Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
Soldati – When questioned regarding the gelding leading in today’s event, Apprentice M Potgieter advised he was under no specific instructions but was of the belief that his mount would settle midfield. He added after beginning well and in his opinion a lack of genuine early tempo, settled more than forward anticipated. He further added his mount overraced in the early stages and failed to finish its race off. Trainers representative stated that although he gave no specific instructions, he was surprised to see SOLDATI leading in today’s event. He added that he would endeavour to provide more specific instructions in future circumstances.
 
Danz the Man – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
Scent Of Fear – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 5: BOOK NOW FOR MELBOURNE CUP RACEDAY Class 1 Handicap 1100 metres
 
Final Warning – Passing the 800m, commenced to overrace and had to be restrained after improving onto heels of THE SWELL. Rider M Abe’s whip broke in the vicinity of the 150m.
 
Charles Seven – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
The Swell – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
Gracious Garcon – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Dutch Rocket – Passing the 800m, raced with its head in the air for a number of strides when being restrained to obtain cover.
 
Vehement – Raced wide throughout.
 
Begin – Passing the 800m, had to be restrained after improving onto heels of DUTCH ROCKET. Trainer K McGovern was reprimanded under AR65 for failing to produce the Thoroughbred Identification Card.
 
Race 6: TAB MAKE A DATE WITH PLAY Class 1 Handicap 1100 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow rider of third placegetter, N Summers (TOKAREV) to view the judges’ photo finish. After viewing the print, she was satisfied with the judges’ placings and correct weight was declared.
 
Dirty Diary – Trainer T Cook was reprimanded for failing to scratch DIRTY DIARY, who was a duel accepter in race 7, by the prescribed time under LR36(6). A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding lost its near fore plate in running and to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer T Cook was advised DIRTY DIARY would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next start. Trainer T Cook advised that DIRTY DIARY would now be spelled.
 
Harry Rocket – Overraced for the entirety of the event. Trainer J Manzelmann reported it was now his intention to experiment with gear.
 
With Trust – As R Wiggins couldn’t make the weight, he was replaced by J Stanley. R Wiggins was fined $300 under AR190(3).
 
Highly Influential – On entering the home straight had to be checked to avoid the heels of METTRE LE FEU who shifted out when insufficiently clear. At a subsequent inquiry, Apprentice M Potgieter pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding and his license to ride in races was suspended for 9 days to commence on midnight 24 October 2020 and to expire on midnight 2 November 2020.
 
Mettre Le Feu – Apprentice M Potgieter reported that his mount laid out rounding the home turn.
 
Race 7: BOOK EVENT CENTRE FOR FUNCTIONS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1100 metres
 
Springthorpe –When questioned regarding the performance, jockey N Day stated that SPRINGTHORPE was fractious in the barriers and as a result was slow into stride. He added that he wasn’t overly disappointed with the performance and believed SPRINGTHORPE would derive benefit from the run. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Rothman – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Cabalo Escuro – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey T Bannon was reprimanded for using her whip 6 times prior to the 100m, one more than permissible under the rule.
 
Don't Doubt Maeve – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Invincible Tammy - Passing the 500m, laid out rounding the turn and had to be restrained off the heels of CATMOSPHERE.
 
Race 8: BOOK NOW FOR CHRISTMAS PARTY OPEN Handicap 1300 metres
 
Brad – Rider J Stanley reported that his mount anticipated the start and as a result, settled further back than intended.
 
Platinum Tycoon – Rider R Wiggins reported that his mount lunged forward contacting the gates. A post race veterinary examination revealed PLATINUM TYCOON had blood present from one nostril which was consistent with trauma. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to PLATINUM TYCOON’s next start.
 
Proane – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Stone Warrior – Approaching the 1000m, had to be restrained and became awkward in its stride when racing tight to the inside of PROANE who was carried in by DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE, which shifted inwards marginally. Apprentice K Southam, rider of DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE was reminded of her obligations  to stop and straighten her mounts when they shift ground in future.

Race 9: BLACKS REAL ESTATE BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1300 metres
 
Zipspur – Overraced in the early stages
 
Trump Me – In the vicinity of the 1000m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of CACTOBLASTIS and had to be restrained.
 
Flinders Deagon – Jumped awkwardly.
 
Strawberry Blonde – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Cactoblastis – Slow to begin.  In the vicinity of the 1000m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of ZIPSPUR and had to be restrained.
