SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Rockhampton 23rd January 2021 – Race 3.
 
Trainer Mr C Smith reported that on return to his stable ONE BOLD BID was noticeably shin sore and advised the filly would now be spelled. Trainer C Smith was advised that he would be required to produce a veterinary clearance prior to accepting for a future race.
 
 
Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Class 3 Plate 1800 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 5mins owing to OR ELSE requiring farrier attention.
 
COMBATTANT DE RUE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
REAGAN'S MISTAKE – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
PRETTY MAMA – Slow into stride. Rider dropped whip at 600m. Stewards cautioned apprentice Potgieter in relation to using his hand to urge his mount over the concluding stages.
 
CASH BUNDLE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing in the past seven days and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin.
 
OR ELSE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing in the past seven days and was passed fit to start. Required farrier attention on arrival at the barriers after losing a plate during the preliminary. As the gelding was unable to be reshod after numerous attempts, and after consulting stable representative Mr M Barnham, stewards gave permission for OR ELSE to race bare in front. Under a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 2: SMART STATE RENTALS QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1100 metres
 
APPARENTLY NOT – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
EAL ANA – Apprentice C Collis was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on nine occasions prior to the 100m, four more than permitted.
 
IN MEMORY OFA MATE – Rider dropped whip near 200m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
WHOSDAY – slow to begin.
 
 
Race 3: JOIN THE EXCLUSIVE 100 CLUB Maiden Handicap 1300 metres
 
DEMURRAL – Slow to begin.
 
HOTBOSSAN – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
MISHANI PATRIOT – Slow to begin.
 
CIDER APPLE – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and had to shift wider to improve.
 
RAW INSTINCT – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 4: MTC EVENT CENTRE BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1560 metres
 
PROANE – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 5: BOOK FUNCTIONS IN THE EVENT CENTRE RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1560 metres
 
BUTTER TOAST – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
TOP RUNG – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
RUFFIN' IT – Rider W D’Avila had his license to ride in races suspended under AR132(5) for using his whip on 18 occasions in total. Jockey D’Avila was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight 30th January 2021 to midnight 10th February 2021.
 
BULLET LAD - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing in the past seven days and was passed fit to start
 
BORROMEO – Hampered on jumping away. Overraced in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
 
Race 6: SKY RACING Class 6 Plate 1200 metres
 
CAVELLTON – Late scratching on veterinary advice at 1.00pm. Trainer A Coome was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to a future race start.
 
LEFKAS ISLAND – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CARDINET – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 800m was obliged to be steadied to avoid the heels of FANAAR (NZ) which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey C Whiteley, rider of FANAAR (NZ), was reminded of his obligation to be clear when shifting ground in future.
 
RED SATIN – Slow to begin.
 
IMALI – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 7: TAB MAKE A DATE WITH PLAY RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1200 metres
 
HORORA VEL – Approaching the 400m became awkward in its stride and shifted out abruptly carrying WIDE LOAD out onto FORGOTTEN FEELING.
 
ROCKETTE ROCKET – Raced fierce throughout. Trainer Mr J Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the mare.
 
WIDE LOAD – Approaching the 400m was hampered and carried wider onto FORGOTTEN FEELING by HORORA VEL which shifted out abruptly.  A post race veterinary examination revealed small abrasions to the off hind leg.
 
WREN PLUCKED – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight till approaching the 100m. Raced in restricted room approaching the winning post.
 
FORGOTTEN FEELING – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after competing in the past seven days and was passed fit to start. Approaching the 400m was hampered and almost unseated by WIDE LOAD, who was carried out by HORORA VEL which shifted out
 
DUAN PHOENIX – Approaching the 800m had to take evasive action to avoid the heels of ROCKETTE ROCKET which was racing fierce.
 
 
Race 8: RACING AGAIN TUESDAY 9TH FEBRUARY Class 3 Handicap 1100 metres
 
VERNAZZA – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight.  When questioned in relation to the performance of VERNAZZA, jockey B Pengelly stated that in his opinion the mare failed to run out a strong 1100m A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
OVERSEAS – Slow to begin. Jockey T Bannon had her license to ride in races suspended under AR132(5) for using her whip on eighteen occasions in total. Jockey Bannon was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 29th January 2021 to midnight 6th February 2021.
 
LORD GREYSTOKE – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
LOUIE THE LEGEND – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SIRFINA – Apprentice C Collis was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.
 
DUTCH ROCKET – Hampered on jumping away. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Hung out throughout the event. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the Mare in relation to hanging.
