GENERAL
 
RUFFIN IT, BON RUBY, LETS TORQUE A DEEL, VIZONE, BERNIE BEEL, MISHANI PATRIOT, PAPILIO, SHIRANDA and CINNAMON MISSILE were all inspected by the veterinarian pre-race after racing within the previous seven days and cleared to race.
 
 
Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1800 metres
 
MEATBALL – Jumped awkwardly and was slow away as a result. Raced keenly through the early stages before improving to the lead near the 1000m.
 
ELECTRIFIED –. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding rider A Butler could offer no explanation. Trainer J Wehlow advised ELECTRIFIED did not handle the prevailing track conditions and in future circumstances he would scratch ELECTRIFIED on a similar track rating. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities
 
ART ATTACK – Made the crossing awkwardly leaving the straight.
 
BROMES – Held up on the final bend and raced in restricted room throughout the home straight. Apprentice rider C Collis was spoken too advisedly regarding the manner he rode over the concluding stages.
 
RUFFIN' IT (NZ) – Raced three wide without cover over the early stages.
 
 
Race 2: MORE THAN JUST A RACE COURSE QTIS Three-Year-Old
Maiden Handicap 1300 metres
 
SIR ARCHIBALD – Hung outwards over the early stages and raced keenly.
 
VIZONE – Approaching the 1000m had to be checked to avoid the heels of BERNIE BEEL, who was carried in by FINAL CRIME, who in turn was carried in by MAHKOTA ROSE which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey C Jokic, rider of MAHKOTA ROSE plead guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR131(a). Jockey Jokic had her licence to ride in races suspended for 10 days to commence midnight 19th of June and to expire midnight 29th of June 2021. When considering penalty stewards took into account Ms Jokics excellent record.

OLLIE'S STAND – Laid outwards in the home straight.
 
MAX'N'MAT – Very slow to begin and raced wide throughout. A warning was placed on the barrier manners of the gelding. 
 
REFUTATION – Slow to begin. Became awkwardly placed on the heels of SIR ARCHIBALD prior to the home straight. Held up for racing room approaching the 250m.
 
ROMANTIQUE – Slow to begin.
 
BERNIE BEEL – Had to be checked passing the 1000m to avoid the heels of FINAL CRIME.
 
FINAL CRIME – Was presented without the notified blinkers. After speaking to trainer Z Hohn it was established she had removed the pacifiers from FINAL CRIME and believed the blinkers would have been removed as a result. Ms Hohn was advised to ensure she completes her gear alterations correctly in the future. Passing the 1000m had to be checked to avoid the heels of MAHKOTA ROSE, which shifted in when insufficiently clear.
 
MAHKOTA ROSE – Raced wide over the early stages.
 
 
Race 3: SKY RACING Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consider a protest lodged by rider N Thomas, rider of 3rd placegetter, BEYOND REPROACH, against CHEYENNE BEACH being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 300m. After considering all the evidence Stewards found that approaching the 250m BEYOND REPROACH was disappointed for a run to the inside of CHEYENNE BEACH which laid in under pressure. BEYOND APPROACH then shifted out to improve into a narrow run between CHEYENNE BEACH and MOUNT DUMARESQ. Bearing in that there was a minimal shift from CHEYENNE BEACH Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had such incident not occurred BEYOND REPROACH would have finished in advance of CHEYENNE ROAD and, therefore, the protest was dismissed.

CHEYENNE BEACH – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the event. Shifted out marginally nearing the 200m before shifting ground inwards over the concluding stages.
 
CINDERELLA MAN – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.
 
MAN ONA MISSION – Slow to begin.
 
MOUNT DUMARESQ – Raced wide early and middle stages. Brushed with BEYOND REPROACH over the concluding stages.
 
GEOFFROY – Apprentice rider C. Collis had his license to ride in races suspended for seven days from midnight the 19th of June to midnight the 26th of June 2021 for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100, one more than permitted under AR132(7)(a)(ii). In considering penalty stewards took into account this was Apprentice Collis’s twelfth breach of the rule since 8th August 2020.
 
BEYOND REPROACH – Disappointed for a narrow run near the 150m. Brushed with MOUNT DUMARESQ over the concluding stages.
 
PAPILIO – Over raced early stages.
 
RAW INSTINCT – Raced wide with cover early stages.
 
SNEAKY GAL – Reared at the start and was slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: BOOK FUNCTIONS IN EVENT CENTRE OPEN Handicap
1560 metres
 
SHIRANDA – Over raced early stages.
 
HEYINGTON – Over raced early and middle stages.
 
PROANE – Held up for clear running throughout the home straight between HAYINGTON and SCHAPPOSE (NZ) and was unable to be fully tested at any stage.
 
SCHAPPOSE (NZ) – Over raced early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout
 
 
Race 5: TAB VENUE MODE BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1560 metres
 
TRACKMAN (NZ) – Over raced in the early stages of the event and when making the course proper in the vicinity of the 1400m had to be restrained off the heels of BOLD ADVANCE which had shifted inwards marginally. Stewards intend to inquire into the circumstances TRACKMAN had to check approaching the 1200m when racing to the inside of TAVI MCBRIDE and ARJAYCEE.
 
ROCK 'N' SOL – Held up for clear racing room until approaching the 200m.
 
EMILY'S SONG – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare was lame in the off-hind leg. Trainer Mr P Fleming was advised a veterinary clearance would be required.
 
TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ) – Raced keenly through the early stages.
 
ORDELL – Passing the 1400m had to be restrained after becoming awkwardly placed inside the heels of TRACKMAN (NZ). Over raced through the middle stages. Held up final bend and raced in restricted room throughout the home straight.
 
DACXI KABOOM – Slow to begin. Laid inwards in home straight.
 
BOLD ADVANCE – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Rider N Day was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for shifting ground inwards near the 1400m where the course proper commences. Stewards took into consideration the racing manners of BOLD ADVANCE at this stage of the race.
 
ANNMARIE – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Had to be checked passing the 1400m when becoming awkwardly placed to the inside of ORDELL, who was carried in by TRACKMAN (NZ). Became awkwardly placed on heels of ORNATE approaching the 800m. Held up in the home straight.
 
FEATHER YOUR NEST (NZ) – Raced wide early stages before improving to the lead. Rider C Eaton advised she had intended to settle further back in the running, however after jumping well and being caught wide early she elected to improve to the lead. 
 
ARJAYCEE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
EXELANT MOSH – Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
 
Race 6: MACKAY CUP SAT 24TH JULY Class 6 Plate 1300 metres
 
GENOA – Reluctant to load.
 
MONSIEUR MACRON (NZ) – Over raced early and middle stages.
 
TOY BOY – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
CINNAMON MISSILE – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight and had to shift out to improve into clear running.
 
BETTER THAN GROOVY – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
SOLDIERS (NZ) – Over raced early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
GREAT FOX – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 7: SMARTSTATE RENTALS Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres
 
DAWN TOO GOOD – Over raced early and middle stages. Laid outwards concluding stages.
 
JUST JESSIE – Slow to begin. Rider A Butler advised JUST JESSIE slipped at the jump and settled further back than desired.
 
MAN O' ROSS – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
KARENO – Raced keenly early stages. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages of the event when dictated outwards by DAWN TOO GOOD.
 
YUAN FEN – Raced wide with cover throughout.
 
KARBORS – Rider reported that he became concerned with the action of the gelding which weakened noticeably over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities
 
 
Race 8: RACING AGAIN SAT 3RD JULY BENCHMARK 70 Handicap
1100 metres
 
Stewards delayed the loading of this race due to an interstate race having a significant delay.
 
Trainer M Bannon was fined $100 for failing to scratch dual acceptor MONSIEUR MACRON by the prescribed time pursuant to LR36(6).
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow apprentice rider C Collis with the assistance of stable representative G Milner to view stewards footage of an incident near the 600m mark. After viewing the replays both parties declined the opportunity to lodge an objection against the winner THE EGYPTIAN and correct weight was declared.  
 
FRATELLINO – Jumped away awkwardly. Made the bend awkwardly prior to the home straight.
 
THE EGYPTIAN – Jumped away awkwardly.  
 
PRINCESS RULES – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Checked off heels near the 600m when THE EGYPTIAN improved to the lead. A Butler was found guilty of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that he shifted inwards when insufficiently clear of PRINCESS RULES. Mr Butler was suspended for 7 days from midnight the 26th of June to midnight the 3rd of July 2021. Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry in relation to apprentice rider C Collis’s use of the whip prior to the 100m to allow his master to be present.
 
QUIDNI – Hampered on jumping away. On entering the home straight had to be checked to avoid the heels of FRATELLINO, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. D Simmons plead guilty to careless riding under AR131(a) in that he shifted inwards when insufficiently clear of QUIDNI causing that runner to check. Mr Simmons was suspended for 7 days from midnight 19th of June to midnight the 26th of June 2021.
 
LINGALONGA LASS – Fractious in the barrier prior to the start.
 
KEFALONIA – Raced wide throughout.
 
JOHNNY WHITESOX – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly contacting WREN PLUCKED.
 
WREN PLUCKED – Hampered on jumping away.
