GENERAL

Stewards accepted the explanations tendered for the late declaration of rider by Trainers T Parry, K Krogh and J Morris on their respective runners.

The following runners were scratched by order of Stewards at 12:00pm when no suitable rider was available:

MONTE SANTO, OURMARIE, MYOLA MILLY, SINGLE STORY, FIRE RANGER, EXPLOSIVE MISSILE.

Race 1: WELCOME BACK RACING 2021 MAIDEN PLATE 900m

SIZZLING TOUCH- Stewards acceded to a request to allow Jockey R McMahon to ride the gelding 1kg over the allocated weight. Reluctant to load. Jockey R McMahon advised that, in his opinion, the gelding was not fully comfortable on the sand track.

TANTALISING MISS- After being fractious in the mounting yard and contacting a fence underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection at the barriers and was passed fit to start. After beginning on terms with the field was unable to muster the speed required to maintain contact with the field and assumed a trailing position. Raced ungenerously from the 600m. Finished off fairly. Jockey M Gray advised that, in his opinion, the mare was reluctant to stretch out and may have resented the sandy going this being its first start at the track. Stewards noted the explanation. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities.

BETAGETA MOVIN’- Raced wide throughout.

Race 2: CAVA HYDRAULICS CLASS B HANDICAP 900m

MANOORA PRINCESS- Was declared a late scratching at 2:25pm after becoming fractious in the barrier. All monies invested on the filly were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2:25pm were as follows:

22 cents in the dollar for the win
17 cents in the dollar for the place

A post-race veterinary examination found the filly to be lame in the off-fore. Trainer S Royes was advised the filly would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate as well as a veterinary clearance prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

SHOW SOME HEART- Marginally slow to begin. Buffeted between runners soon after the start. Raced wide for the majority.

MACKELLARS VOICE- Shifted out bumping with another runner soon after jumping.
