RACE 1: ELDERS ALLFLEX MAIDEN PLATE – 1100m
 
AGUERO – Refused to load. Declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 1:03pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested in AGUERO be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
11 cents in the dollar for the win #3
11 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
18 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #2
 
Trainer W. Morriss was advised the gelding would need to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to returning to race.
 
 
RACE 2: NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT CLASS B HANDICAP – 1100m
 
JACARANDA PRINCE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
TOCCO D’ORO – Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
 
RACE 3: MACK TRUCK NEWMARKET OPEN HANDICAP – 1100m
 
The start of race three was delayed when BLUE JEST was presented to the mounting yard and onto the track with the incorrect saddlecloth and as a result had to be re-saddled. Trainer B. Johnson was reprimanded for negligence under AR.175(k) in that his actions may have led to a breach of AR.141. In assessing penalty stewards were mindful of the extenuating circumstances of this case.
 
CLASSIC WIND – Began awkwardly making contact with the inside barrier petition. Jockey C. Bryen sustained an injury to his right foot during the event and after being assessed by the Queensland Ambulance Service was stood down for remainder of the meeting. Replacements as per Stewards Summary.
 
 
 
 
 
RACE 4: BILL & KJ COSTELLO MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1200m
 
SAN SEVERO – Slow to begin.
 
TELL A FIB – Slow to begin.
 
 
RACE 5: BROWN AND HURLEY QUILPIE CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1350m
 
SAN VINCENZO – Tightened for room at the 600m making contact with the inside running rail.
 
MURPHY’S HUSTLER – Shifted in marginally rounding the 600m, tightening another runner to the inside. Apprentice D. Graham was advised to exercise more care. Raced wide over the concluding stages.
 
RACE 6: QUILPIE SHIRE COUNCIL/BRANDON & ASSOCIATES QTIS RB 0 - 50 HANDICAP – 1350m
 
NATIONAL JEWL – Raced wide without cover throughout the early and middle stages.
 
GRAVITY FORCE – Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover throughout the early and middle stages.
