As Jockey Dale Evans was unable to obtain a stay of proceedings, rider changes were made as per Steward’s race day summary.
Race 1: Ray White Rton City Alan Hart Memorial Maiden Plate 1300m
SIEGE OF ENNIS – Slow to begin.
MISS RICH – Near the 400 metres, shifted out to obtain clear running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare was lame in the off fore fetlock and would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next start.
Race 2: Ray White Rton City Normie Fox Memorial BenchMark 65 Handicap 1800m
No racing incidents to report.
Jockey T Chambers was spoken to with regard to her use of the whip consecutively prior to the 100 metres.
Race 3: Ray White Rton City Shorty Unwin Memorial Class 4 Handicap 1050m
HUNCHA DUNCHA – Delayed the start when the horse was standing awkwardly in the barriers. Slow to begin.
COZUMEL – Declared a late scratching at 12:35pm due to no available rider.
MARKED FOREVER – Stewards accepted Trainer V Heading’s explanation as to the late declaration of Jockey C McIver as rider. Slow to begin. Near the 500 metres, laid in onto the heels of CLAPPERS.
MYSTIC LAD – Jumped away awkwardly. Jockey T Chambers was fined $300 for the use of her whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100 metres.
PARTY PARDEE – Dipped on jumping.
SHROUDED – Jockey S Sheargold was accidentally struck by the whip of Jockey T Chambers on 3 occasions.
Race 4: Ray White Rton City Resident. & Commercial Prop. Management Ratings Band 0 – 55 Handicap 1300m
GLADISHING, THE CATHOLIC GIRL, and CAPTAIN ADRIATIC – All declared scratchings at various times due to no available rider.
ZOE IS THE BEST – Declared a late scratching at 7:40am.
FLYING FERO – Jumped in the air at the start.
RESET OUR WORLD – Trainer J Crane stated the horse had had approximately 6 weeks between runs due to it being treated for a previously reported thrush issue in its hooves. In this time, the horse had not been trained on the track and had only been swum. Stewards noted his explanation.
Race 5: Ray White Rton City Resident. & Commercial Sales & Marketing Class 4 Handicap 1400m
INDELO – Jockey A Butler was permitted to ride a half kilogram overweight as the trainer wished to use a senior rider.
GUNDY MAGIC - Jockey M Barnham was permitted to ride 1.5kg overweight as the trainer wished to use a senior rider.
OZEIN – Stewards accepted the explanation of late declaration of rider.
OUR KYRPTONITE – Slow into stride.
MISTY MONTANA – Raced wide without cover.
CHAIN THE GATE – Raced wide with cover.
