Race 2: Adlec Maiden H’cap – 1300m

The start was delayed 2½ minutes due to a patron taking ill on course.

THE VOLTO – Declared a late scratching when no rider was available.

A WEE SHOCK – Declared a late scratching when no rider was available.

MISS MANIBEL - Declared a late scratching when no rider was available.

RED RIPPA – Stewards accepted the explanation for the late rider declaration.

SCOTTISH LAD – Slow into stride and tightened shortly after. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey J. Stanley stated that he would have preferred to settle in a more forward position, however after commencing moderately he was forced to settle midfield. Jockey Stanley added that the gelding was under pressure from the 700m and inclined to hang out. He further stated he had some difficulty obtaining clear running near the 300m and in his opinion the gelding is one paced and would appreciate a step up in distance.

TINARAU MAUBOY – Began awkwardly. Overraced and wide throughout.

GAI OF THE GALAXY – Raced 3 wide for the majority.

SUJANI - Correct weight was delayed when jockey N. Summers and trainer L. Rodgers requested to view the official film of the start to ascertain if the filly was afforded a fair start. Stewards noted that SUJANI was facing the gates as the start was effected, however then ducked its head to the off-side, which resulted in the filly losing considerable ground and thus stewards declared it an official starter. Trainer L. Rodgers was advised that it would require a barrier certificate prior to its next race start.

Race 3: Stockland Rockhampton 0-55 H’cap – 1300m

SURPRISE GLORY - Rider M. Barnham was dislodged leaving the enclosure and took no ill effect. Stood flat footed as the start was effected, losing significant ground and trailing the field throughout. Jockey Barnham reported that the gelding may have resented the addition of a tongue-tie. Trainer K. Hansen was advised that SURPRISE GLORY would require a barrier certificate prior to its next race start. Mr Hansen also stated that he would remove the tongue tie from its registered gear.

ELLE THE MODEL – Began awkwardly.

SOUTHERN ALBATROSS – Approaching the 1100m began to overrace, was awkwardly placed at heels and shifted out.

CHEAPY CHICK – Overraced in the early stages and approaching the 800m raced ungenerously and shifted out. Eased when tightened for room approaching the finishing post.

KATIE’S GIRL – Overraced approaching the 800m and improved on to the heels of PAIBLE, then shifted out and contacted the heels of STREAMLIER. Jockey J. Stanley noted that the filly raced greenly throughout, and the addition of blinkers may have contributed to its manners. Trainer J. McConachy advised stewards that he may experiment with gear changes in an attempt to improve its racing manners.
