KING KAI – Began awkwardly.

GRANDMA’S DYNAMO – Tightened between runners as the start was effected, losing its position.

LEGAL ASSET – Tightened on jumping away and lost ground. Trainer L. Rowe was asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance of the gelding. Trainer Rowe stated, in his opinion, the gelding had been racing fairly and noted the addition of blinkers for the first time had a significant bearing on today’s performance. Trainer Rowe also indicated that he expects the gelding to continue to improve when racing over distances further than today.

NOBODY BETTER – Began awkwardly and shifted in.

ARJAYCEE – Began awkwardly.

TALES OF EPSILON – Slow into stride. Held up for clear running between the 400m and 100m before being slightly tightened and inconvenienced near the 100m and contacting the rail. The gelding was unable to be fully tested over the remainder of the race.

BETTER THAN GOLD – Overraced in the early stages. Near-hind plate sprung, placing it at some disadvantage throughout the event. Shifted in marginally near the 100m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination determined the filly to have a puncture wound, most likely caused by a nail. The horse was treated on course.

CRIME BOSS – Hung in under pressure over the final 200m.

BARBADOS STORM – Slow into stride. Bled from both nostrils. As this was its first offence, connections were advised that the gelding would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months, and would be required to perform a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward prior to resuming racing.

FRENCH HUSSLER – Jockey J. Stanley was of the view that the gelding may have choked on its tongue.  Trainer J. Wiggington advised that the gelding would likely race in a tongue-tie at its next start.
