As T Chambers was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the stewards summary sheet.
 
Race 1: Butler Partners (Regional) PTY LTD Maiden H’cap – 1100m
 
WEAGLES – Raced wide throughout.
 
GEOVANNI – Was held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift wider to improve into clear running.
 
A GIRL LIKE ALICE – Slow to begin.
 
LIKE MELANIA – Was held up for clear running on entering the home straight and raced in restricted room to the inside of MONSIEUR JACK from the 400m to inside 200m.
 
STAZZANA – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages. In the vicinity of the 600m had to be steadied after improving onto the heels of GEOVANNI.
 
BLAME IT ON PARIS – Raced wide throughout. Trainer B Ryan was fined $200 for removing the Mare from the course prior to 30 minutes after the scheduled start time. Trainer B Ryan was advised that BLAME IT ON PARIS would be required to provide a veterinary clearance prior to a future race start.
 
LOVES’S BEST HOPE – Knuckled on jumping away and was slow into stride. Jockey Wiseman stated that her mount wasn’t suited racing at the tail of the field. Trainer J O’Sing agreed that LOVE’S BEST HOPE wasn’t suited racing at the tail of the field but would take benefit from todays run. A post race veterinary failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
TICKET KEEPER – Laid in under pressure in the straight.  
 
 
Race 2:  Capricorn Rewind Electrical Solutions QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden H’cap – 1200m
 
BEACH ROAD – Slow to begin. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
OSWANA – On entering the home straight clipped the heels of IMALI, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider, and blundered. Shortly after attempted to shift wider to improve into clear running but approaching the 400m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MATAGORDA which was hampered and carried wider. Inside the 400m bumped on a number of occasions with DACXI DELIVERS while racing in restricted room.
 
OLLIE’S STAND – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and shifted out approaching the 400m to improve into clear running. A post race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to both hind legs.
 
FOXTER – was declared a late scratching at 11.46am after refusing to load. Following the event, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable:
 
7 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
10 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the win
4 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
11 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
Trainer L Rowe was advised that FOXTER would be required to gain a barrier certificate prior to accepting for a future race start.
 
NUCLEAR – Hampered on jumping away. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainers representative A Coome was advised that NUCLEAR would be required to trial competitively prior to accepting for a future race start.
 
CHESTO’S DREAM – Knuckled on jumping away and shifted out abruptly contacting NUCLEAR. In the vicinity of the 900m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MATAGORDA which shifted out while being restrained off heels. Raced wide throughout.
 
LEGAL CHANCE – Jumped away awkwardly contacting IMALI.
 
MATAGORDA – Approaching the 900m had to be restrained after improving onto heels and in doing so shifted out hampering CHESTOS’S DREAM. Approaching the 400m was hampered and had its hindquarters turned by IMALI who was carried out by OLLIE’S STAND which shifted out when insufficiently clear. In the incident MATAGORDA shifted out further when attempting to be corrected hampering OSWANA, and DACXI DELIVERS. Jockey S Lacy, rider of OLLIE’S STAND was found guilty of a charge of careless riding for allowing her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear to do so and was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 7th July and to conclude midnight 15th July 2020. In determining penalty stewards took into account Jockey Lacy’s excellent record in relation to careless riding.
 
CRAIGLEA CINDY – In the vicinity of the 400m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of OLLIE’S STAND which shifted out when insufficiently clear to do so. Trainer K Johnstone was advised that CRAIGLEA CINDY would be required to trial competitively prior to a future race start.
 
DACXI DELIVERS – Vicinity of the 400m was hampered and bumped on a number of occasions.
 
IMALI – Hampered on jumping away. On entering the home straight shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider hampering OSWANA. In the vicinity of the 400m was hampered by OLLIE’S STAND which shifted out when insufficiently clear to do so. In the incident was carried wider and contacted the hind quarters of MATAGORDA and had to be restrained.  
 
Race 3: Charles Pest Control QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden H’cap – 1300m
 
DEVINE ASCOT – Raced wide throughout.
 
SCANDINA – Was held up for clear running on entering the home straight to approaching the 300m.
 
GOLDEN TREASURE – Race wide throughout. Trainer reported the filly lost its off fore plate in running.
 
CRAIGLEA CHANTILLY – Hung out throughout the event. Trainer K Johnston was advised that CRAIGLEA CHANTILLY would be required to trial prior to a future race start.
 
WINDCHILL – Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 200m by EVRYNOW’N’THEN which was racing greenly.
 
BRAHMINY – Was held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight and approaching the 200m was inconvenienced when attempting to improve around the heels of EVRYNOW’N’THEN which was racing greenly.
 
EVRYNOW’N’THEN – Raced greenly when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
ESPEREUS – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
Race 4: DLV Finance Class 3 Plate – 1100m
 
 ALGEROBA – Hampered on jumping away.
 
NAVY – Slipped behind on jumping away. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
BANTU BAY – Rider reported that his mount became awkwardly in its stride after attempting to jump a patch near the 100m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
DOOM – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Jockey A Butler pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for excessive use of the whip and was fined $500.
 
ART OF DANCE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
LIBERTY’S GIFT – Slow to begin.
 
TARTUFO BIANCO – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
BETAIMA – Hampered on jumping away.
 
 
Race 5: Milner Constructions PTY LTD Class 3 Plate – 1100m
 
HAZAR – Slow to begin. Raced green and hung out throughout. Trainer A Coome was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding in relation to its racing manners.
 
PARISIAN TYCOON – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Jockey A Butler pleaded guilty to a charge of excessive use of the whip it that he used his whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100m, 16 in total. Jockey A Butlers license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 days to commence midnight 7 July 2020 and to conclude midnight 13 July 2020.
 
KEDLESTON – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
CHILLI PRAWN – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages.
 
GREAT FOX – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SUPER KIDS – As Jockey M Barhnam was unable to make the weight he was substituted by Jockey S Wiseman. Jockey M Barnham was subsequently fined $100 under AR190(3). Jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 300m had to be restrained to avoid the heels of TIGER LOVE which rolled out marginally and HAZAR which hung in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
MIRACULOUS – Rider reported that it wasn’t his intention to lead in todays event but after jumping extremely well in a slow run race found himself leading.
 
 
Race 6: Walkers Hot Bread Shop Benchmark 55 H’Cap – 1500m
 
JETINTOIT – Hampered on jumping away.
 
COACH – Hampered shortly after jumping away. Had to be steadied after improving onto heels approaching the 1000m. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift in to improve into clear running.
 
IDALIA’S DREAM – Hung in throughout the event. Overraced in the early stages.
 
MISS STAR – Raced wide throughout. Rider reported that he was unable to obtain cover at any stage and when placed under pressure on entering the home straight, his mount failed to respond to his urgings and weakened noticeably over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery. Trainer S Rundle stated that MISS STAR had pleased in its work leading into todays event and would report back on the condition of MISS STAR in the coming days. MISS STAR was post race swabbed.
 
DYDEE’S GIRL – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 7: Wendy Mulry Travel Open H’Cap – 1200m
 
FRIENDLY DRAGON – Slipped on jumping away. Rider reported that he became concerned with the action of the gelding and as such elected to not place his mount under pressure over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J McConachy advised stewards that he would report back on the condition of FRIENDLY DRAGON over the subsequent days.
 
BAT A KAT – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after not racing in the past 12 months and was passed fit to start.
 
REACH FOR HEAVEN (NZ) – Overraced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
ALL EEZ – Overraced in the early stages. Trainer reported the gelding lost its off fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 8: Garden Party On Rocky Cup 2020 Benchmark 69 H’cap – 1400m
 
STEELZ TIME – Reared as the start was effected.
 
PAUA – Hung out throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer R VALE was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding in relation to hanging.
 
FORZA – Stewards gave permission for FORZA to race bare behind after losing a hind plate and was unable to be re-shod. FORZA underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
SEQUABLUR – As apprentice D Graham was unable to claim, she was replaced by apprentice M Potgieter. Apprentice D Graham was reprimanded. When questioned in relation to SEQUABLUR leading by a significant distance throughout the race, apprentice Potgieter stated that he was instructed to lead in todays event and was able to take up a forward position in the early stages as per his instructions. He added that he became aware of the gap that he was placing on the field from the vicinity of the 1000m but when attempting to restrain his mount the gelding began to take charge and failed to settle in the middle stages. He added that on entering the straight the remainder of the field began to make ground quickly and as such he elected to place his mount under full pressure but weakened noticeably over the concluding stages. Stewards advised Apprentice Potgieter that in future circumstances he should have made a greater effort to attempt to settle his mount in the middle stages to allow SEQUABLUR the best chance of finishing its race off.
 
Race 9: TAB Rocky Cup Calcutta – Thursday 16 July Open H’cap – 1600m
 
ZOURKHAN (IRE) – Raced wide throughout.
 
ESCHIELE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
POETIC HEAT – Slow to begin.
 
HI HARRY – Slow to begin. Overraced in the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
PROANE – Slow to begin.
 
ATTIQUE – Overraced in the early stages when attempting to restrain to obtain cover.

ESENADA – Approaching the 300m was hampered by TRUMP ME which shifted out to improve. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
CINCO STAR – Slipped on jumping away. Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
SEQUALO’S SPIRIT – Slow to begin.
 
ASK NINO – Approaching the 1100m was inconvenienced when attempting to find cover.
