Race 1: ROCKHAMPTON MINI LOADS KEN RUSSELL MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1600 metres
 
Was It Worth It – Slow into stride. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Jockey N Thomas stated that his mount failed to travel at any stage and was disappointing throughout. Trainer J Wehlow stated that WAS IT WORTH IT would now be leaving his stable. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Svindal – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Flame Princess – Jumped awkwardly contacting the inside barrier partition.
 
Bon Bon – Slow away. Trainer L Horstman was advised that BON BON would be restricted to Non-TAB venues until it finds competitive form.
 
Race 2: CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE CHAMPIONSHIP QTIS 4&5YO Handicap 1300 metres
 
The Tax Accountant – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on entering the home straight and if there was a prior opportunity to improve into a run between KING KAI and THE SINNER passing the 400m. Jockey J Stanley stated that he was mindful of THE TAX ACCOUNTANT carrying topweight and as such did not want to force a run and lose momentum at a critical point of the straight as THE SINNER was inclined to shift ground at that stage. He added passing the 350m, he was able to improve into a run between KING KAI and THE SINNER and finished off in a positive manner. Stewards noted his explanation. 
 
The Sinner – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Flying Crackerjak - Jockey N Thomas pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(5) of excessive whip use, in that he used his whip on 17 occasions, and his license to ride in races was suspended for 7 days to commence on midnight 22 October 2020 and to expire on midnight 29 October 2020.
 
Hezhome – Overraced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight. When questioned regarding the performance of HEZHOME, jockey A Sewell stated his mount failed to travel throughout the event and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the home straight and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. Trainers representative C Smith stated that HEZHOME had pleased in its work leading into today’s event and could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance but would report back to the stewards on the condition of HEZHOME in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.
 
Poetic Pete – Overraced in the early stages.
 
King Kai – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Race 3: ADLEC ELECTRICAL Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
Deal – When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey Z White stated that her mount travelled well throughout, however when asked for an effort failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. Trainer C Taylor stated that DEAL had pleased in its work leading into today’s event and could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance but would report back to the stewards on the condition of DEAL in the days subsequent and his intentions were to get bloods sent for analysis. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post recovery. Trainer C Taylor was advised that DEAL would be required to trial prior to its next start to prove its competitiveness and also provide a veterinary certificate of fitness.
 
Do It For Viv – Declared a late scratching at 8am after no rider was available.
 
Roslin – Hampered shortly after jumping away by LADY CECILIA who was carried out by SENDING LOVE. Jockey A Sewell reported that ROSLIN got its tongue over the bit.
 
Ordesa – Laid in under pressure passing the 400m and became awkwardly placed on the heels of LOLA MAE.
 
She's Imperial - Jockey N Day pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(5) of excessive whip use, in that he used his whip on 18 occasions, and his license to ride in races was suspended for 7 days to commence on midnight 24 October 2020 and to expire on midnight 31October 2020.
 
Lady Cecilia – Momentarily inconvenienced on jumping away and was slow as a result.
 
Lola Mae – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
Rosettes – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4: CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE QTIS 3YO GUINEAS 1200 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately two minutes after THE SILVER LADY was required to be resaddled.
 
Poetic Final Say – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
Courtesy Bus – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Miss Lot Won – Hampered on jumping and as a result was slow to begin. Approaching the 900m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of NATURAL EMPEROR which was hampered by SILVER LUCY which hung in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
Natural Emperor – Jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the 900m, had to be restrained after becoming awkwardly placed to the inside of SILVER LUCY hung in despite the effort of its rider. Trainer T Smith advised that NATURAL EMPEROR would now be spelled.
 
Plenty Of Ticker – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Final Crime – Overraced in the early stages. Approaching the 900m, whilst overracing became awkwardly placed on the heels of PRINCESS RULES.
 
Princess Rules – Jumped away awkwardly shifting out abruptly. Overraced in the middle stages.
 
Silver Lucy – Shifted out on jumping contacting MISS LOT WON.
 
Race 5: CARLY-MAE PYE MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1100 metres
 
Gypsy Biker – When questioned as to whether there was an opportunity to improve to a run that presented itself passing the 400m to the inside of REZABELLE, Apprentice K Cowan stated that she was awkwardly placed behind REZABELLE and was mindful of that horse shifting in when that runner would be asked for an effort. She further added that when REZABELLE’s rider placed his mount under pressure, it shifted in marginally as anticipated and as a result, she wasn’t able to continue to the inside of that runner and ran to the line untested.
 
Lord Greystoke – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Fairfacts – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Dolci – Slow to begin. On entering the home straight, was disappointed after attempting to improve into a run to the inside of GYPSY BIKER and as a result, had to shift wider to attempt to improve. Passing the 500m, had to be restrained after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of REZABELLE. Passing the 300m, had to again be restrained after being disappointed for a run between LORD GREYSTROKE and FAIRFACTS, which laid in under pressure. Jockey N Summers, rider of FAIRFACTS, was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten her mounts when they shift ground in future.
 
Shezashootingstar – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 400m. Jockey Z White was fined the sum of $500 in that she used her whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permissible under the rule.
 
Suzi Bel - Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: MILNE BROS CORAL COAST SHIELD QUALIFIER OPEN Handicap 1050 metres
 
Raiden – When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey N Day stated that his mount failed to travel throughout the event and when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding in the straight. He further added that RAIDEN struggled under the topweight today and felt that the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainers representative J Doolan undertook to report back to the stewards on the condition of RAIDEN in the days subsequent.
 
District – Laid out rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed a slight laceration to the off hind.
 
Outback Warrior - Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after not competing in over 12 months and was passed fit to start.
 
Rockette Rocket – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after not competing in over 12 months and was passed fit to start.
 
Lady McCabe – Laid in throughout the event.
