GENERAL
 
Trainer J McConachy reported that he had SANTORINI SUMMER undergo an endoscopic examination again on Tuesday 3rd November after the gelding had completed fast work that morning. Veterinarian Dr B Johnstone who conducted the endoscopic examination on the request of Mr McConachy, reported that the scope was clean, and no abnormalities were detected.
 
Race 1: CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE 2021 BREEDERS PLATE QTIS 2YO Colts & Gelding 1050 metres
 
Sherwood Prince – Rider H Richardson was reprimanded for using her whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permissible.
 
Didn't Ask Me – Raced greenly in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Koheeto – Raced greenly throughout. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Mishani Trouble – Rider J Orman was reprimanded for using his whip 7 times prior to the 100m, 2 more than permissible.
 
Just Sid – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE 2021 BREEDERS PLATE QTIS 2YO Fillies Maiden 1050 metres
 
Hidden Joy – Approaching the 800m, had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of GYPSY ISLE. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight to approaching the 500m. Raced in restricted room to the inside of ITSA CLAMITY passing the 500m and raced in restricted room over the concluding stages to the inside of GYPSY ISLE.
 
Gypsy Isle – Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
Itsa Clamity – Shifted in abruptly shortly after jumping away. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Yarralinda – Laid out in the early stages. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until approaching the 400m and had to shift wider to improve into clear running. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the off hind. Trainer T Smith was advised YARRALINDA would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next start.
 
Dual Instinct – Approaching the 900m, had to be steadied and carried in onto LOCKDOWN LADY, after ITSA CLAMITY shifted in abruptly in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed bilateral nasal discharge. Trainer L Conan was advised DUAL INSTINCT would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next start.
 
Lockdown Lady – Jumped awkwardly, shifting in abruptly. Approaching the 900m, had to be steadied off the heels of DUAL INSTINCT which was carried in by ITSA CLAMITY which shifted in abruptly. Apprentice E Smith was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Approaching the 800m, had to be steadied and shifted out across heels when racing in restricted room between DUAL INSTINCT, which rolled in marginally and YARRALINDA which laid out rounding the turn.
 
Race 3: 2020 LJ HOOKER DASHI DASH 5 DECEMBER Maiden Handicap 1050 metres
 
The start of this race was delayed approximately 4 minutes due to FAST SONG being unable to be loaded. Subsequently FAST SONG was declared a late scratching at 2.15pm with the following deductions applicable;
 
11c in the dollar for all win bets #5 (HAVANNAH SUNSET)
19c in the dollar for all place bets #5 (HAVANNAH SUNSET)
6c in the dollar for all place bets #11 (ROSETTES)
17c in the dollar for all place bets # (STELLAR WITNESS)                                                                                                
 
Trainer’s representative K Hansen was advised that FAST SONG would be required to officially barrier trial prior to its next start.
 
Do It For Viv – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer S Sigvart advised a change of tactics in that DO IT FOR VIV would attempt to be ridden midfield with cover if circumstances permit. Settled midfield without cover.
 
Havannah Sunset – Laid in under pressure in the straight and approaching the 100m, was momentarily inconvenienced after its rider dropped its outside rein, but was able to regather shortly thereafter. A post race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the offside nostril.
 
Zebonet – Raced wide throughout.
 
Stellar Witness – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Rosettes – Jockey C Whiteley reported that his mount shied at sections of the track on numerous occasions throughout the event.
 
Race 4: PKF HACKETTS Maiden Handicap 1500 metres
 
El Diez – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Fizz – Overraced in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery.
 
Presley Road – Overraced throughout the event.
 
Annmarie – Jumped away awkwardly and was momentarily inconvenienced shortly after jumping away.
 
Investible – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, jockey B Appo stated that in recent starts, it’s been the intention to race closer to the speed on INVESTIBLE, however circumstances at the start have not permitted that to happen. He added with the wide barrier and no interference at the start, he was able to take up an anticipated position nearer the speed. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
Lady Cecilia – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight till approaching the 300m. Approaching the 200m, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of EL DIEZ, which shifted in when insufficiently clear to do so. Jockey R Wiggins, rider of EL DIAZ, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding and was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 15th November and to conclude midnight 22nd November 2020. Raced in restricted room to the inside of EL DIEZ from the 200m until approaching the winning post, and again had to be checked to avoid the heels of EL DIEZ, which shifted in when insufficiently clear to do so. Jockey R Wiggins was found guilty of careless riding and his license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 14 days to commence at midnight 15th November and to expire on midnight 29th November. In determining penalty stewards ordered the penalties to be served concurrently.
 
Race 5: CHRISTMAS AT CALLAGHAN PARK QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1300 metres
 
Ask Me Tomorrow – Rider A Butler plead guilty to a charge of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 9 times prior to the 100m, 4 more than permissible under the rule. His license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 14 days to commenced on midnight 14th of November and to expire on midnight 28th November.
 
The Silver Lady – Jumped away awkwardly and was hampered shortly after. Overraced in the early stages. Approaching the 100m, was momentarily inconvenienced by PULCHERIA which shifted out to improve. post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Poetic Final Say – Jockey M Murphy was fined $200 for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permissible under the rule.
 
Brigalow Boy – Overraced throughout the event.
 
Pulcheria – Approaching the 100m, shifted out in an attempt to improve into clear running.
 
Race 6:  RUM CITY FOODS Class 5 Handicap 1100 metres
 
Fun Tickets – Hampered on jumping away and as a result was slow into stride.
 
Cavellton – Disappointed for a run approaching the 400m to the inside of EYEBEA DANCER and as a result, shifted out in an attempt to improve. Approaching the 200m, had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of DOOM and from that point was unable to be fully tested until inside the final 50m.
 
Volum – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.
 
Hurricane Fighter – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Pound For Pound – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Doom – When questioned the regarding the perceived improved performance, trainer R Vale stated that he had galloped DOOM only once since it’s disappointing performance at Mackay which DOOM received interference on entering the home straight. He added that DOOM is better suited racing at Rockhampton and wasn’t surprised with the effort shown today. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
Gypsy Biker – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Race 7: XXXX GOLD Class 1 Handicap 1200 metres
 
Santorini Summer – Dipped on jumping away. When questioned regarding tactics adopted, jockey A Butler stated that his instructions were to race on the speed as SANTORINI SUMMER had blinkers added to the gear and had drawn wide. Trainer J McConachy was reprimanded under AR100(1)(a) for failing to declare a change of tactics. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J McConachy reported that SANTORINI SUMMER would be spelled immediately.
 
Trackman – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide throughout.
 
Rezabelle – Hampered on jumping. Overraced throughout the event.
 
Highly Influential – A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Rosaire – Jumped away awkwardly. Passing the 400m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of HIGHLY INFLUENTIAL after laying in and continued to lay in over the concluding stages.
 
Mystery Element – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Race 8: HAPPY 40TH SCOTT FLANAGAN OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
 
Casino Thoughts – Jumped away awkwardly. Apprentice M Potgieter reported that his mount pulled hard throughout the event placing him at a disadvantage.
 
Chezblack – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Race 9: TAB BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Okie – Slow to begin and failed to muster speed. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Rather Silky – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
Applicant – Overraced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Svindal – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after being fractious in the barriers and passed fit to start. Slow to begin. Became awkwardly placed on the heels of APPLICANT on entering the home straight.
 
Trump Me – In the vicinity of the 900m, commenced to overraced and had to be steadied of the heels of FLAT TO STACK.
 
Delius – Jockey M McGillivray was permitted to replace Apprentice D Graham as the rider of the gelding. Stewards accepted Apprentice Graham’s explanation for failing to fulfill this engagement.
 
Jetintoit – Slow to begin. On entering the home straight was disappointed for a run between TRUMP ME and APPLICANT and as a result became awkwardly placed on the heels of TRUMP ME for a number of strides.
 
Flat To Stack – Laid in under pressure. Jockey E Smith was reprimanded for using her whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permissible under the rule.
