Race 1:  Royal Flying Doctor Service – Sunshine Coast Auxiliary Maiden Plate – 1800m
 
CHAUVE DOG –  The start was delayed after the horse broke through the barriers and cantered for a short distance. Was then examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Jockey L. Dittman reported that, in his opinion, his mount was stirred up prior to the event and after having broken through the barriers prior to the start being effected, he felt this had a detrimental effect on the horse’s overall performance.
 
CLASSIC PEARL – Change of tactics. Connections advised the filly would be ridden more forward from the wide alley if circumstances permit. Raced midfield 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
HEIRSROC – Overraced in the middle stages.  
 
PRINCE HUSSON – Inconvenienced on jumping away when bumped by another runner.  
 
PROUD CAPTAIN – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Raced wide from the 700m.
 
IT AIN’T ALL HONEY – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
LA FIREBIRD – Held up rounding the home turn. Obliged to race in restricted room approaching the 300m.
 
 
Race 2:  Buderim Mechanical Open H’cap – 1000m
 
BOOMWAA – Slow to begin.
 
NATIONAL TRAIL – Slow to begin.
 
PUBLISHING POWER – Restrained from heels near the 700m and again leaving the 600m.
 
KLAMMER –  Checked approaching the 600m.  Jockey P. Romeo, rider of TAPESTRY VISION, pleaded guilty  to a charge of careless riding, in that he directed  his mount in approaching the 600m which placed pressure on KLAMMER, and then failed to make sufficient effort to relieve the pressure at that point, resulting in  KLAMMER being checked.   Jockey Romeo was suspended from riding in races for a period of  9 days, to commence at midnight, 27 October and to expire at midnight, 5 November.
 
HARD STRIDE -  Lost its near fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 3:  Mosaic Property Group F&M BM65 H’cap – 1000m
 
DAUNTING DUCHESS – Stewards accepted the explanation for the late rider declaration  of C. Gallagher for the horse. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
THE BUMBLEBEE – Jumped away very awkwardly and made contact with another runner.  Placed in restricted room approaching the 600m and was restrained.
 
COONOWRIN RUBY – Bumped heavily on jumping away.
 
CLOCKWISE – Bumped heavily on jumping away. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey M. Cahill indicated it had been his intention to ride in a forward position, however after having been bumped by another runner at the start, the horse was unable to muster sufficient speed, and indicated that the stable is looking to step the horse up to races over longer distances. 
 
LIPS ‘N HIPS – Made contact with another runner on jumping away. Raced wide. 
 
WIRED – Bumped on jumping away. Raced wide.
 
POSITIVE SPIN – Tightened for room shortly after the start and had to be steadied. Jockey T. Harrison reported it had not been her intention to ride at the tail of the field, however after receiving interference at the start was obliged to steady and shift across to the fence.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 4:  Active Sparkies CG&E BM65 H’cap – 1000m
 
ALASKA – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers after making contact with the outside fence during the preliminary and was cleared to start.  Raced wide.
 
MAGIC LAD - Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers at the request of the rider and was cleared to start.  Raced wide without cover.
 
FLIP DE GLOIRE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
TAKES TIME – Laid in badly in the home straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage. Raced wide.
 
KAILENNY – Steadied from heels near the 600m. Lost its near hind plate in running.
 
FLAME OF LIBERTY – Improved onto heels over the concluding stages and had to be steadied and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
DOOM – Lost its off hind plate in running.
 
 
Race 5: Firefly Education QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1400m
 
DULCIE TIE – Lost ground at the start after being bumped by another runner.  Inconvenienced by another approaching the 200m and again leaving the 200m.
 
MYWIFESAIDNO – Jumped awkwardly, inconveniencing another runner. When the pace slackened approaching the 800m improved onto heels and had to be steadied. Jockey R. Maloney, rider of GRIM REAPER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he allowed his mount to shift in approaching the 1100m, initiating contact with WILLO TITTO  to the inside, which forced that runner in on to BIG BUDS, which was also forced to shift in at that stage, tightening the running of MYWIFESAIDNO, resulting in jockey J. Byrne, rider of MYWIFESAIDNO, having to take hold at that stage and lose ground.  Jockey Maloney was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 days, to commence at midnight, 26 October, and to expire at midnight, 3 November.
 
PEERLESS CRUISE – When the pace slackened approaching the 800m improved onto heels and had to b steadied.
 
LICKETY LACHIE – Hung out rounding the home turn and continued to lay out under pressure in the home straight, causing minor interference to other runners. Jockey L. Tarrant, rider of LICKETY LACHIE, was reprimanded for failing to make sufficient effort to straighten his mount.
 
BIG BUDS - Inconvenienced by another approaching the 200m and again leaving the 200m.
 
 
 
WILLO TITTO – Raced wide without cover.
 
LOPE FOR JOYA – Returned to scale with abrasions to both hind fetlocks.
 
 
Race 6: Fencepac Maiden H’cap – 1300m
 
KURUMBA – Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of rider for the horse.
 
MISS MELRAE - Stewards accepted the explanation for the late declaration of rider for the horse.
 
ELLE OF A RUN – Slow to begin and was bumped at the start.
 
JEN FROM MYERS – Tightened for room on jumping away.
 
TARGETS – Jumped away awkwardly, bumping another runner. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have sustained a laceration to the off hind tendon.
 
BULLTRUCK- Bumped on jumping away.
 
ACTION D’IMPULSION – Became awkward shortly after the start.  Raced wide. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
COONOWRIN SILKY – Overraced badly in the early stages when the pace slackened after leaving the 1200m and as a result clipped heels and blundered near the 1100m.
 
PINCH LEGEND - Overraced badly in the early stages when the pace slackened after leaving the 1200m. Obliged to race in restricted room approaching the 700m.
 
STRAWBERRY BLONDE – Overraced in the early stages when the pace slackened.
 
OCEAN ADDICT – Shifted in shortly after the start and clipped heels and blundered badly.
 
SPEAKING BETTER – Raced wide.
 
COSTALARGO – A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Connections were advised that undergo and ECG examination, with results supplied to stewards,  a veterinary clearance to be supplied, and the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
 
Race 7: Fort Knox Class 4 H’cap – 1600m
 
The starting time for this event was rescheduled to 4.57 pm.
 
ALCAZAR – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
SAVANNAH ROSE – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
SHOCKFACTOR – Rider reported that the horse, which tailed off, did not travel comfortably at any stage of the event due to the rain affected conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
 
Following the running of this event, stewards interviewed a number of riders in relation to concerns which had been raised with visibility due to kickback.  As a result of these concerns, stewards abandoned the remainder of the meeting at 5.24 pm.
 
 
Race 8: Rice Brothers BM90 H’cap  - 1600m
 
The starting time for this event was rescheduled to 5.35 pm
 
Race 9: Royal Flying Doctor Service – Sunshine Coast Auxiliary BM85 H’cap – 1200m
 
The starting time for this event was rescheduled to 6.05 pm
