Race 1: CALOUNDRA RSL QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1800M
 
GABE THE BABE – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: PRYDE’S EASIFEED BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1600M
 
VAULTING AMBITION – Shifted the off fore plate in running.
 
LADY NO MORE – Overraced in the early stages.
 
VISONA PLAYBOY – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Race 3: GO ELECTRICAL WARANA CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1600M
 
As L. Cassidy was to be overweight, N. Thomas was substituted as the rider of PROPOSED. L. Cassidy was fined $100.
 
PRINCE OF ARRAN – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn. Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
VICTORY DANCE – Held up for clear running in the home straight until near the 200m.
 
PROPOSED – Overraced when being restrained to obtain cover in the early stages.
 
Race 4: CMA ACCOUNTING AND TAXATION SERVICES BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1000M
 
REAL CUTE – Tightened for room on jumping away and lost ground. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
 
RAVEN’S WING – Jumped awkwardly and made contact with another runner.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
Race 5: CMBM FACILITY SERVICES PTY LTD MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
 
MISTA MAYBE – Slow to begin.
 
ROCK TSAR – Restrained from heels when the pace slackened approaching the 800m and was again restrained when placed in restricted room after passing the 700m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight, causing its rider to stop riding to avoid heels near the 50m.
 
MAGIC MYSTERY – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. When questioned, jockey McGillivray stated that the horse did not travel at any stage of the event. He indicated that he was obliged to niggle the horse in the middle stages and when under pressure in the home straight the horse laid in and felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer L. Birchley’s stable representative Mr M. Henderson was advised that in light of today’s performance and the comments of jockey McGillivray, the gelding would be required to trial prior to its next start.
 
REAL MACHINE – Fractious in the barriers, reared as the start was effected, became very awkward and almost dislodged its rider. Apprentice C. Gallagher reported that his saddle slipped on jumping away. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 6: OCEAN VIEWS RESORT MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M
 
As J. Stanley was not riding due to injury, R. Maloney was substituted as the rider of PAY DAY GREY.
 
The start of this race was delayed when THE KNIGHT, which had been fractious in the barriers and became cast, was declared a late scratching at 4:47 pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on THE KNIGHT be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 4:47 pm:
 
10 cents in the dollar for the win #1
12 cents in the dollar for place of winner #1
14 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #10
10 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #5
 
Trainer M. Dunn was advised that the gelding must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start.
 
IADOREYOU – Obliged to alter course near the 200m to secure clear running.
 
PAY DAY GREY – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
 
WHERE’S THE MONEY – Raced wide until approaching the 600m.
 
KING ALFONSO – Slow to begin. When questioned, T. Marshall advised that the gelding failed to travel comfortably at any stage of the event, became very awkward in its action in the home straight and was eased down over the final 300m. Trainer P. Butterworth indicated that he supported the comments of jockey Marshall as the horse, in his opinion, did become awkward over the final 300m and gave an undertaking to advise stewards should anything come to light in coming days that may have affected the performance. Stewards advised Mr Butterworth that the gelding must barrier trial prior to racing again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
BONNEY LORES – Held up rounding the home turn. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
JANEMY – Trainer J. Johnston advised that the mare had bled from both nostrils. As this was the first occasion on which it has bled, the horse will be ineligible to race for 3 months, and prior to starting again must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.
 
Race 7: PADDY WALSH PAINTING & SOLID PLASTERING CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1400M
 
As apprentice J. Grob was not riding due to illness, N. Fazackerley was substituted as the rider of SEQUABLUR.
 
SEQUABLUR – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced by another runner after passing the 1200m.
 
IAMPAIDFOR – Obliged to restrain from heels when the pace slackened after passing the 1200m and became awkward. M. McGillivray was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
 
REAL ESTATE – Off hind galloped on and lost the off hind plate. A post-race veterinary examination resulted in the horse requiring minor veterinary treatment to lacerations to the off hind leg.
 
HOT SOCK – Became fractious when the barriers opened and missed the start by a significant margin and lost ground. Trainer R. Heathcote’s representative was advised that the gelding must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
DEVILLAIN – Hung out from leaving the 700m until entering the home straight.
 
Race 8: CELLAR MAINTENANCE AUSTRALIA CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1200M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed when L. Dittman, the rider of the winner TRIPLE ARROW, and apprentice C. Gallagher, the rider of 2nd placegetter MAGIC LAD, viewed the stewards’ patrol footage to determine whether there were grounds on which to lodge an objection. After viewing the video, apprentice C. Gallagher indicated that he did not wish to lodge an objection and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings.
 
LEGAL GIRL – Slow to begin.
 
TRIPLE ARROW – Placed in restricted room near the 600m.
 
MAGIC LAD – Became awkward shortly after passing the 600m when inclined to lay in. Bumped by another runner approaching the 400m and again near the 300m.
 
I DREAM OF GREEN – Permission was granted for the gelding to wear a tongue tie, however, trainer S. Kendrick was fined $200 for failing to notify a gear change by the prescribed time.
 
LUCKY MACHU – Raced wide throughout.
