Race 1: APP- MARTEC MAIDEN PLATE – 2200M
 
CHAINSMOKER – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced wide from the 800m and was bumped and forced wider near the 400m.
 
TAVERNE – Shifted wider to improve passing the 800m and raced three wide from that point onwards. Raced greenly when struck with the whip in the home straight.
 
ODIN’S FOLLY – After overracing in the early stages, shifted wider near the 1400m and improved to a position outside the lead passing the 1200m.
 
YANKEE SANG – After overracing in the early stages, shifted wider near the 1000m until assuming the lead passing the 800m.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to SOFT 5.
 
Race 2: CLIPSAL BY SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M
 
MADCALL – Overraced whilst leading in the middle stages.
 
SPIRIT ESPRIT – Slow to begin and was unable to muster speed in the early stages.
 
RAINGURL – Laid in badly in the home straight, placing the rider at a disadvantage. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in both hind legs. Trainer B. Currie was advised that the filly will require a veterinary clearance and must trial officially prior to racing again.
 
Race 3: NHP – BRILLIANT LIGHTING – REPELEC BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 1000M
 
STRIKING DISTANCE – Laid in from the 400m onwards.
 
RED DOULTON – Bumped on jumping away. Tightened for room by HE’S A WITNESS near the 700m and had to be steadied. Apprentice H. Phillips, the rider of HE’S A WITNESS, was reprimanded. Obliged to alter course near the 300m to secure clear running.
 
MASTER BAYLEE – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Trainer J. Edwards was asked to explain the improved performance. He indicated that at the horse’s two most recent starts, on both occasions the track had been rated a Good 3 and in his opinion the horse did not appreciate the firm racing conditions. He added that he had expected a forward showing on a soft track today. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
IMPLACABLE – Placed in restricted room whilst laying out near the 500m and had to be steadied. Bumped by another runner after passing the 100m.
 
Race 4: EVOLT QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M
 
Trainer S. Kendrick was reprimanded under AR65 for failing to produce the Thoroughbred Identification Card for JAGGED EDGE.
 
SIZZALATING – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
DREAMTIME MAGIC – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced near the 700m. M. McGillivray reported that his mount was unable to muster early speed and would appreciate a step up in distance as it was doing its best work over the concluding stages.
 
KOKOPO KITTY – Slow to begin.
 
CUBAN MINT – Tightened for room near the 700m and was steadied. D. Smith, the rider of BOMBAY BULLET, was advised to exercise more care.
 
KALLIE – Jumped awkwardly.
 
DJEBEL READY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 5: LEGRAND – PIPEMAKERS – PRYSMIAN MAIDEN H’CAP – 1200M
 
Trainer J. Edwards was reprimanded under AR65 for failing to produce the Thoroughbred Identification Card for BOMBAY BULLET.
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow L. Tarrant, the rider of 3rd placegetter RAVENSWORTH, to view the stewards’ patrol footage to ascertain whether he had grounds on which to lodge an objection against 2nd placegetter OUTPATIENT. After viewing the videos, jockey Tarrant indicated that he did not wish to proceed and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings.
 
GEE TEE TEE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
OUTPATIENT – Lost the off fore plate and had to be reshod behind the barriers.
 
RAVENSWORTH – Obliged to steady when placed in restricted room to the inside of OUTPATIENT near the 900m when that runner shifted in after improving into a position to the inside of GEE TEE TEE, which shifted in. Stewards inquired into this incident and were satisfied that other than for the racing manners of OUTPATIENT the incident would not have occurred and no further action was taken. Broke down in both front legs after passing the winning post and was found upon inspection to have fractured both sesamoids and was euthanased on humane grounds. Post-mortem urine and blood samples were taken from RAVENSWORTH.
 
BRAHMA ARMOUR – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
IMAY SHOUT – Slow to begin.
 
EPIC BEL – Shifted in near the 1000m and had to be checked from heels.
 
MARK OF THE CLASS – Overraced in the early stages. Steadied near the 400m when awkwardly placed at heels whilst attempting to secure clear running.
 
EULEILAH – Placed in restricted room after passing the 400m and was obliged to steady.
 
NANCY BIRD – Apprentice H. Phillips was fined $100 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram over her allotted weight.
 
STONEFISH – Raced wide without cover.
 
Race 6: IPD CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1800M
 
IRON DUKE – Trainer R. Wilson was reprimanded for presenting the horse late into the mounting yard.
 
CERTAIN DOUBT – L. Tarrant indicated that it had been his intention to race in a more forward position, however after a short distance it became apparent that he would have to pressure the horse in order to secure a forward position and as a result he steadied and settled at the rear of the field. The horse then overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
WENDOUREE RED – Slow to begin.
 
Race 7: OMNI – ELECTRA CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1400M
 
EPIC RANT – Had to be reshod prior to the start.
 
WINE BARREL – M. Du Plessis reported that his mount laid in throughout the event, particularly under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
BRONZED VENOM – M. Hellyer reported that his mount wanted to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
CLAIRVUE DIAMOND – L. Tarrant reported that at no stage did he feel the horse was entirely comfortable and indicated that he had concerns with the horse’s action. Trainer S. Kendrick agreed that during the event the horse, in his opinion, did not appear to be travelling comfortably and undertook to inform stewards of anything that may come to light in ensuing days which may have had an effect on the horse’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
SHELTER LADY – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost significant ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had poor post-race recovery.
 
KEEP ON ROCKING – Reared as the start was effected and lost significant ground.
 
Race 8: GO ELECTRICAL WARANA BENCHMARK 80 H’CAP – 1200M
 
LORD BARRINGTON – Overraced in the early stages.
 
MISHANI PHOENIX – Raced wide without cover and laid in throughout.
 
ROCBOLT – Slow to begin.
 
BAREFOOT TYCOON – Raced wide throughout.
 
MARTINELLI – Laid in in the straight.
 
Race 9: TRADER – HAVIT – FANTECH BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 1400M
 
When leaving the enclosure, ROSSMAY attempted to rear and slipped over, dislodging its rider and suffering lacerations to nearside foreleg and hock. Stewards therefore declared ROSSMAY a late scratching at 5:00 pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on ROSSMAY be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 5:00 pm:
 
            11 cents in the dollar for the win #11
            15 cents in the dollar for place of winner #11
            9 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #3
            15 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #10
 
The horse was inspected by the veterinary surgeon prior to leaving the course and did not require treatment.
 
JAKUTA – Apprentice C. Frater-Hill reported that her mount wanted to lay out in the straight.
 
SORNJA – Trainer S. O’Dea indicated that following today’s performance the horse would likely be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
ROMAKASH – Raced wide from the 600m.
 
SHE’S FAST – Raced wide without cover.
