Stewards inquired into the circumstances relating to apprentice C. Bayliss’s failure to attend Apprentice School on 15 April.  Apprentice Bayliss was subsequently found guilty of a charge under AR232, in that he failed to comply with a direction to attend Apprentice School and was fined the sum of $250.

Race 1 – IGA Sunshine Coast QTIS 2yo Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
DYNAMIC VERSE – Trainer N. McCall was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. Jockey M. Hellyer advised his mount laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
GALVARINO – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
QUEENOFMAINSTREET – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.  Jockey L. McCoy advised the horse did not handle the rain affected conditions.
 
LYRICAL GIRL – Jockey A. Fancourt reported her mount raced greenly throughout.
 
CLEVER MISS  - Jockey L. Tarrant reported that his mount raced greenly throughout.
 
Race 2 – IGA Sunshine Coast QTIS 2yo Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
DREAMACE – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
 
POETIC CHOICE – Slow to begin.
 
STRYKING PRINCESS – Jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier partition.  Bumped by another runner on a number of occasions over the final 200m.
 
ZEELUCK – Laid in badly under pressure in the home straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage and made contact with another runner on a number of occasions.
 
 
Race 3 – Montrose Therapy & Respite Services Class 2 H’cap – 1000m
 
HEART OF AUSTRALIA – Trainer D. Trindall was reprimanded  for presenting the horse without a tongue-tie, which was part of its registered gear.
 
ROTHFORD – After being fractious in the barriers, jumped with its head in the air and lost ground.
 
SHADWELL FLYER – Jumped away awkwardly, made contact with the barrier partition and lost ground.
 
BELLA BOSS – Slow to begin.
 
TEAGZ – Raced wide throughout.
 
YOUR OPTION – Raced wide throughout.
 
BACHELOR’S ART – Momentarily held up approaching the 500m.
 
OLD TRIESTE – Had difficulty securing clear running between the 400m and 300m and then laid out under pressure over the final 150m.  Jockey C. Gallagher was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
 
SHE’S A MITZY – Jockey T. Harrison reported at scale that her mount got it tongue-tie over the bit.
 
 
Race 4 – IGA Sunshine Coast Class 3 H’cap – 1200m
 
ELUSIVE MELODY –  Jockey J. Lloyd reported his mount did not handle the rain affected conditions. He further stated that trainer T. Edmonds had indicated that the horse would now be sent for a spell.   Slow to begin.  
 
MEWSTONE ROCK – Slow to begin. Had some difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight until approaching the 250m.
 
 
CORDONED – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
RISING KING – Raced wide without cover.
 
KING RAGNAR – Trainer R. Wilson was asked to comment on the improved performance of the horse. He stated at the horse’s most recent start he had removed the tongue-tie and, in his opinion, this resulted in an improved performance. He added that with this performance in mind he had expected a forward showing in today’s event.
 
STAR SILK – Apprentice J. Murphy was asked to comment on the performance of the horse. He indicated he felt the horse was disappointing, however could offer no explanation for the performance.  The stable indicated that the gelding would be unlikely to start on rain-affected tracks in light of today’s performance.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
 
Race 5 – IGA Sunshine Coast Maiden H’cap – 1400m
 
MIRACLESFROMHEAVEN – When asked to comment on the positioning of the horse and also the performance, jockey S. Galloway indicated it had been his intention to ride the filly midfield if possible, however his mount was unable to muster any early speed and he was obliged to settle at the tail of the field. He indicated he was somewhat disappointed with the horse’s finishing effort. Trainer R. Smith advised that in light of today’s performance the horse would be sent for  a short spell.
 
 
Race 6 – IGA Sunshine Coast Class 1 H’cap – 1600m
 
LITTLE MISS MONACO – Slow to begin.
 
MISTA MAYBE – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
THE GOLDEN HIND – Blundered near the 500m and became unbalanced.
 
SUNDAYINMANHATTAN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
 
Race 7 – IGA Sunshine Coast Benchmark 75 H’cap – 1600m
 
FLYING MACHINE – Had some difficulty securing clear running rounding the home turn.
 
MONACO PLAYBOY – Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 8 – IGA Sunshine Coast Ratings Band 0-60 H’cap – 1400m
 
ROCK DANCER – Slow to begin.
 
SICARIO – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
 
AHMAH STAR – Overraced badly in the early and middle stages.
 
HEART OF TOORAK – Raced wide from the 700m.
 
HENRY’S ON COURSE – Raced in restricted room for a short distance passing the 300m. Raced wide throughout without cover.
