The declaration of correct weight was delayed to afford apprentice C. Bayliss (TREASURE GALLERY) and A. Fancourt (VOLOMITE) the opportunity of viewing the stewards’ patrol footage to determine whether they had grounds on which to lodge objections. After viewing the videos jockey Fancourt indicated that she did not wish to proceed, however, apprentice Bayliss, the rider of TREASURE GALLERY, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against IAMPAIDFOR (M. McGillivray) being declared the winner, alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos it was established that leaving the 100m IAMPAIDFOR shifted out and brushed TREASURE GALLERY and that near the finish line IAMPAIDFOR made contact with TREASURE GALLERY, which was taken wider. However, given the proximity of the interference to the winning post and the half head margin separating both runners at the finish, stewards could not be satisfied that the interference had a significant effect on the placings and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored.
