Race 1: TAB F&M MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

DACKARNA – Jumped awkwardly and bumped another runner. Resented being restrained at the 750m, was unable to be controlled by its rider and shifted in, causing interference to ROZEIRA. Trainer J. Edwards was advised that the horse must officially trial prior to starting again.

EMPRESS US – Significantly slow to begin, trailed the field throughout and finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer R. Davidson was advised that the horse would be barred from racing at TAB venues until its form improves.

KURU LASS – Bumped by another runner on jumping away. Stewards questioned M. Du Plessis regarding the tactics he adopted as the horse settled further back in the field than at its most recent start. He explained that he had been given no specific instructions, however, from the wide alley he had anticipated that the horse would begin well and he would hopefully be able to take up a forward position. He added that after being bumped in the early stages and horses racing to the inside showing early speed, he elected to restrain to obtain a position closer to the fence with cover.

ME AS I AM – Bumped by another runner after passing the 750m and forced wider, losing ground, and then raced wide throughout.

BELVOIR – Bumped heavily on the hind quarters by another runner after passing the 750m and became unbalanced. Raced greenly under pressure in the straight.

FIRERISE – Shifted in abruptly near the 750m and made heavy contact with the hind quarters of BELVOIR and became awkward before shifting wider on the track. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s manners. Raced wide without cover throughout.

FIRST DAWN – Raced greenly throughout the event, became awkward at heels after passing the 750m and had to be checked. Obliged to alter course approaching the 350m to secure clear running.

ROZEIRA – Severely tightened for room after passing the 750m and had to be checked, losing significant ground. Stewards inquired into this incident and found that DACKARNA, after being steadied at the 750m, resented being restrained and was unable at that point to be controlled by its rider and shifted in causing the interference to ROZEIRA.

Race 2: ALL PEST QLD C,G&E MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

FORENSIC AUDITOR – Jumped very awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner. Improved on to heels near the 750m, became awkward and had to be steadied.

Fletcher was advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to racing again.

ABDICATING – Slow to begin. Tightened for room near the 750m and had to be checked.

ALL TO DO – Hung out throughout. Raced three wide without cover when attempting to secure the lead.

The horse was ridden with vigour in the early stages, however, was unable to muster early speed and settled in a position worse than midfield. Ms Forster was reprimanded under AR100(1)(b) for failing to notify a change of riding tactics no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the race.

EAGLE BAY – Inconvenienced by another runner after passing the 100m and was steadied.

PRINCE OF FLINDERS – After being crossed near the 1100m, shifted out to avoid heels and in doing so bumped another runner.

GET OUTA UTAH – Shifted wider at the 700m to improve and raced wide without cover from that point onwards.

TYCOON PLAYER – Overraced when the pace slackened in the early stages and improved into a position to the inside of PRINCE OF FLINDERS, which shifted in near the 800m. Apprentice M. Nakao, the rider of PRINCE OF FLINDERS, was reprimanded for her actions when shifting out near the 1000m and again shifting ground near the 800m. Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn.

ATZENI – Overraced in the early stages and was restrained from heels after passing the 1000m and again leaving the 900m, and at this point shifted out and made contact with another runner. Disappointed for a run after passing the 400m and was obliged to shift out at that point to secure clear running. Placed in restricted room over the concluding stages.

COULDN’T REFUSE – Bumped by another runner near the 900m and raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Bumped by another runner after passing the 500m and continued to be buffeted by that runner until passing the 400m.

ENDLESS MYSTERY – Raced greenly throughout the event and was restrained from heels on a number of occasions during the early stages.

NEVER LOSE FAITH – As apprentice J. Oliver was ill, apprentice S. Thornton was substituted as the rider of the horse. Apprentice Oliver was advised that he will be required to produce a medical clearance prior to resuming riding. Attempted to shift out to obtain clear running after passing the 500m and in doing so made contact with another runner, then continued to attempt to shift out until after the 400m, at which point the horse was obliged to shift back in and was steadied from heels.

White reported that her mount, after obtaining the lead, overraced badly and in her opinion this had a detrimental effect on the horse’s finishing effort.

Race 7: TMG CONSTRUCTION CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1600M

DON’T DOUBT LARA – Buffeted near the 1300m and made contact with the running rail, losing ground, when tightened for room by SECRET SITES, which was tightened for room and taken in by REAL ESTATE. D.
