GENERAL
 
As B. Stewart was indisposed, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.
 
 
Race 1: Proliquor Maiden H’cap – 1800m
 
NICOSMILE- Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced wide in the early stages
 
DECEBALUS – Overraced in the early stages.
 
APITHANOS – Raced wide without cover in the early stages.
 
COMMENTATOR – Improved onto heels near the 700m and had to be steadied.
 
ROSIE ROSE – Held up behind the weakening BAY NOT GREY  between the 550m and 450m.
 
MONSTER OF POWER – Had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance passing the 300m.
 
LIKEABEEL – Laid in badly under pressure in the home straight.
 
BAY NOT GREY – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
 
Race 2: XXXX Dry Maiden H’cap – 1800m
 
RAHEESH – Change of tactics. Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Slightly slow to begin and as a result settled in a midfield position.  Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider B. Thornton reported that his mount did not handle the rain affected conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the near hindleg.  Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be supplied prior to its next race start.
 
WILCARUISE – Change of tactics. Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
FIORELLI – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in the second half of the field if circumstances permit.  The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
WICKED FREDDY – Slow to begin.
 
LEICABLE – Significantly slow to begin.
 
BEST FOOT FORWARD – Jockey A. Fancourt reported her mount raced greenly throughout.
 
 
Race 3: Blake Machinery Group Pty Ltd QTIS 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1400m
 
OUR OMEN – Slow to begin.
 
HOSTILE STAR – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier partition and lost  ground. Raced wide.
 
EL RANCHOS – Overraced in the early stages. Rider M. Du Plessis reported that the horse may have got its tongue over the bit during the event.
 
SISTER KATHLEEN – Held up  rounding the home turn for a short distance.
 
DREAM LAD – Raced wide without cover.
 
 
Race 4: Secure Access Pty Ltd Benchmark 68 H’cap – 2200m
 
NEPTUNE’S CHOICE – Change of tactics. Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Subsequently was ridden forward and settled in the lead.
 
TAKEITTOTHELIMIT – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
BRUMBY JACK – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 5: Suncoast Cabs Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
MY SHARONA – Jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barriers and lost ground.  Jockey D. Smith reported at no stage did the horse travel comfortably in the rain affected conditions.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  As the horse was uncompetitive in today’s event, a warning was placed against it. Following the running of this event jockey D. Smith was examined by the doctor after injuring his left foot and was stood down from his remaining engagements and will require a doctor’s certificate  prior to riding again.
 
GLOBAL CHOICE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
STORMTROOPER – Laid in throughout the event, particularly when under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 6: Q Advertising QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1000m
 
HE’S THE NEWS – Trainer K. Schweida was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time. Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide.
 
SILVER BO – As L. Cassidy was to be overweight, M. Hellyer was substituted as the rider of the horse. Jockey Cassidy was fined $100.
 
GYPSY ROZAY – Slow to begin. Rider reported the horse did not  handle the rain affected conditions, and as a result raced greenly in the middle stages and was obliged to steady near the 500m when awkwardly placed at heels.
 
WINTER RAIN – Raced wide.
 
 
Race 7: TAB Benchmark 62 H’cap – 1400m
 
REAGAN’S MISTAKE – Overraced in the early and middle stages and was obliged to check from heels near the 900m.
 
WHODUNNIT – Overraced in the early stages and when attempting to shift wider to improve between runners after passing the 600m was obliged to race in restricted room and had to be  steadied near the 500m.
 
HELL ON TURF – Blundered near the 550m.
 
GOT MY THRILLS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHADYVALE STAR – Raced wide without cover.
 
ENTERPRISE MOSS – Raced wide throughout.
 
MOOD – Raced wide throughout.
 
TREASURE GALLERY – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 8: Yallumba Benchmark 62 H’cap – 1000m
 
LOTSA SPIRIT – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with  SHE’S A MITZY.
 
SHE’S A MITZY – Bumped heavily on jumping away and blundered as a result, losing ground.
 
NINEONEONE – Began awkwardly and lost ground before racing greenly in the early stages.
 
AZIZ JAMIL COUREUR – Steadied shortly after the start when racing in restricted room.
 
YEAHNAH – Near the 700m was eased when racing in restricted room. Eased from heels near the 500m after racing wide. Jockey J. Orman reported his mount was inclined to hang in throughout the event and did not handle the rain affected conditions.
 
TRU BLU TANGO – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LIPS ‘N HIPS – Raced wide without cover. When asked to comment, jockey M. McGillivray stated that the performance was disappointing, however attributed this to being caught wide and his mount failing to handle  the rain affected conditions.
 
 
Race 9: GT Print QTIS 3yo H’cap - 1000m
 
COMBAT KID – Permission was granted for  apprentice M. Wishart to replace  injured  jockey D. Smith   when no senior rider was available. Began awkwardly and shifted out, making heavy contact with BOLD STYLE.
 
MAGIC TRICK – Slow to begin.
 
BOLD STYLE – Tightened for room on jumping away, and raced in restricted room until the 900m.
 
JE SUIS BELLE – Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping BOLD STYLE, then laid in until approaching the 500m. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off hindleg, and also  found that the off  hind plate had shifted.
 
 
 
DYNAMIC VERSE – Held up rounding the home turn and when shifting out to obtain clear running  bumped BETTER THAN GROOVY near the 400m.
 
BETTER THAN GROOVY – Raced wide without cover. Bumped by DYNAMIC VERSE near the 400m.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
COURSESHEWILL – A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which weakened over the concluding stages, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
ROTHENBURG – When asked to comment on the performance, apprentice S. Thornton stated that from the wide barrier it had been the intention to settle at the rear of the field.  She stated, in her view, the horse did not handle the rain-affected conditions and  was obliged to niggle the horse in the early stages in order to attempt to improve onto the back of the field.  Apprentice Thornton added  she attributed this to her mount being more suited to races over longer distances, adding  that the horse was doing its best work over the concluding stages and would appreciate a step up in distance.
 
 
Race 10:  Resi Homes Pty Ltd Class 1 H’cap – 1300m
 
WAMWARRA BAY – Slow to begin.
 
SENTIMENTAL MISS – Slow to begin.
 
DER SIEGER – Bumped heavily on jumping away by REDSTONE.  Raced wide and was steadied from heels near the 700m.
 
REDSTONE – Began awkwardly and bumped DER SIEGER. Obliged to alter course to secure  clear running after passing the 100m.
 
LA TRIOLI – Steadied from heels near the 700m.
 
DAM LOVABLE – Laid in under pressure over the final 100m, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten.
 
DWARF – Raced wide.
 
GENZAI THE WOLF - Raced wide without cover. Jockey B. Thornton reported it had not been his  intention to settle in such a forward position, however during the early stages he was unable to obtain cover and the horse raced keenly as a result.
