GENERAL
As Jag Guthmann Chester was not riding at the meeting, riding changes were made as per the raceday summary sheet.
 
 
Race 1: BUNDABERG RUM Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1400 metres
 
 
ROMALETTE –Contacted gate with offside hip when leaving the saddling enclosure. On arrival at barriers was examined by Veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Rider B Thompson explained ROMALETTE was inclined to over-race in the early and middle stages of the event and obtained cover near the 800 metres, however when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding. A post-race Veterinary examination of the mare revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken from ROMALETTE.

 
Race 2: BARINGA TAVERN Maiden Handicap 1600 metres
 
AUSSIE MYTHOLOGY – Over-raced near the 1400 metres. Bumped rounding the home-turn when ZOFF THE BOSS attempted to shift out. Hampered near 100 metres when BUSINESS AS USUAL shifted out.
 
SOUTH SANTO – Fractious in the enclosure. Began awkwardly, then commenced to over-race for a short distance before progressing forward and obtaining the lead near the 1000 metres. Raced greenly in home straight.
 
GOLD CHORUS – From a wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to obtain a position closer to the rail.
 
BLOOMIN' KIND – Inclined to lay in at various stages in the home straight.
 
BUSINESS AS USUAL – Improved onto heels near 1400 metres. Inclined to lay in under pressure over final 100 metres hampering AUSSIE MYTHOLOGY.
 
EVA THE DIVA – Held up approaching the home-turn.
 
ZOFF THE BOSS – Had difficulty obtaining clear running entering to home straight.
 
 
Race 3: YALUMBA QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1000 metres
 
SPIRIT ONE – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
BATTLE THROUGH – Jumped out at the start. Raced three wide throughout. Commenced to lay out from the 500 metres and in the home straight continued to shift wider on the track despite the efforts of its rider. Trainer B Smith was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for hanging out.  A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. 
 
STRIKE – Began awkwardly.
 
XERRI – Bumped on jumping away. Raced three wide for majority of the event.
 
SALAZAR – Hampered shortly after the start. Passing the 800 metres bumped by BELISTIC MAN. Taken wider rounding the home-turn when POUPEE shifted out to improve.
 
SHE’S A TIGRESS – Rider M McGillivray was reprimanded for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
POUPE – Laid out rounding the home-turn when shifting out to improve and bumped SALAZAR.
 
BELISTIC MAN – Over-raced passing 800 metres and had to be steadied from the heels of SALAZAR.
 
 
Race 4: BRIGHTWATER HOTEL Class 4 Handicap 1200 metres
 
EXACTAMENTE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event despite the efforts of its rider. Brushed the running rail near the 800 metres.
 
 
 
Race 5: XXXX DRY Colts, Geldings and Entires BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1400 metres
 
DIXIE PREACHER – shifted out slightly near the 300 metres before being corrected by its rider.
 
CHAPELCO – Tired noticeably over the concluding stages before being eased down on pulling up. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
TRIPLE ARROW – Raced three wide throughout without cover.
 
FORT WAYNE – On arrival at the barriers, and at the request of the rider M McGillivray, underwent a Veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Momentarily steadied near 300 metres when DIXIE PREACHER shifted out.
 
CONCAVE – From a wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to obtain a position closer to the rail.
 
 
 
Race 6: PARKLANDS TAVERN Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed when the tongue tie on I AM SUMI needed to be refitted.
 
ELGIN – Raced three wide with cover for majority of the event.
 
HECTOR THE HERO – Bumped heavily on jumping and lost ground. Held up rounding the home-turn.
 
I AM SUMI – Raced three wide without cover for majority of the event.
 
MULTIMILLY – From a wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to obtain a position closer to the rail.
 
KARAYER – Inconvenienced in early stages of the home straight.
 
MARNUS – Checked at the start and lost ground.
 
MY BOY SOOTY – Raced three wide with cover for majority of the event. Laid in during the early stages of the home straight inconveniencing KARAYER. Near the 150 metres improved onto the heels of the tiring CHEERS TO ALL and strteadied.
 
YOURJOKINGME – Shifted out abruptly at the start.
 
FRANKLIN CORNERS – Slow to begin. Held up approaching the home-turn.
 
BOHEMIAN BOOM – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
 
 
Race 7: CONNECT COMMUNITY PLUS KIDS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1800 metres
 
MISSED THE ALARM – Held up from a point leaving the 500 metres until near the 250 metres.
 
OKIE – Slow to begin. Caught three wide in the early stages of the event before progressing forward and racing outside the leader at the 1300 metres.
 
THE INVESTIGATOR – Held up for clear running between the 400 metres and 300 metres.
 
MISS ALLE BE – Held up for clear running until near the 150 metres. A post-race routine swab sample was taken from the mare.
 
QUOTANT – When the pace steadied near the 1100 metres commenced to over-race and as a result was shifted three wide on the track. Raced three wide without cover for remainder of the event.
 
SCILAGO – Held up for clear running in early stages of the home straight.
 
 
 
 
 
Race 8: CANADIAN CLUB Class 1 Handicap 1600 metres
 
ZAWADI – Held up rounding the home-turn.

PHOENIX RAIDER – When weakening near the 150 metres was tightened for room and steadied between BAMBALAM and BRING ME SHOWERS. 
 
BRING ME SHOWERS – Held up for clear running between the 400 metres and 200 metres.
 
ACEME – After being corrected by its rider shifted in and away from FAY CONQUERS ALL near the 150 metres.
 
SPIRITUAL ROSE – Slow to begin. Hampered and taken wider on the track leaving the 500 metres when ANGOLA MISS was directed outwards to improve.
 
TORRIENTE – Held up rounding the home-turn.
 
ANGOLA MISS – Began awkwardly. Shifted wider on the track abruptly approaching the 400 metres to obtain clear running.
 
GOT NO DOUBT – Slow to begin. Checked and steadied from heels rounding the home-turn. At a subsequent inquiry L Tarrant was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that approaching the 400 metres he directed ANGOLA MISS wider on the track resulting in SPIRITUAL ROSE being carried wider and in turn forced onto GOT NO DOUBT, resulting in that runner being checked and having to avoid heels. The riding licence of L Tarrant was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight 27th September up to and including midnight 8th October 2020.
