SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
 
GENERAL
 
 
Race 1: DRYSDALE FUNERALS Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
CHILD SUPPORT – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
GRAND GENES – Fractious in barriers. Trainer S Barr was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. Hung in and failed to stretch out when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SISTINE AVENUE – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
PATTI WAGGIN – Slow to begin.
 
PETRILLO – Rider B Thompson was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres, two more than permitted. When asked to comment on the below market performance B Thompson stated the colt failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure and was one paced throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
TOO VIENNESE – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
 
 
Race 2: 7 DAY SKIPS QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1000 metres
 
BELISTIC MAN – Blundered on jumping, shifted out and bumped MISHANI APPEAL.
Checked near 250 metres.
 
LUCIFER'S LOOT – Raced greenly throughout. Hung in during early stages of the home straight. Checked near the 200 metres. Apprentice G Cartwright, rider of BI TURBO, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 200 metres, after being initially disappointed for a run to the inside of MAGIC DELTA, directed her mount out across that horse’s heels which initiated contact with LUCIFER’S LOOT which was bumped and taken off its rightful running. As a consequence LUCIFER’S LOOT was taken out resulting in BELISTIC MAN, which was racing to the outside being checked. The license of G Cartwright to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence midnight 14th February up to and including midnight 25th February 2021.  
 
BI TURBO – Steadied near 500 metres when placed in restricted room to the inside of NO BETTER AFFAIRE.
 
MISHANI APPEAL – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for majority of the event.
 
NO BETTER AFFAIRE – Blundered on jumping. Checked from heels near 600 metres when over-racing.
 
JELLISHOT – When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance stable representative M Sharpe stated the filly was checked at its most recent start at Gatton on 21st August 2020 and had been working well this preparation. Ms Sharpe added JELLISHOT had matured during a lengthy spell and a forward showing was expected today.
 
 
Race 3: HIGGINS COATINGS PTY LTD Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
SEOUL MONEY – Trainer J Johnson was fined $200 under LR67 for the late declaration of rider on the gelding.
 
BOOM BABY – Rider R Stewart was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 meters, one more than permitted.
 
OVIDIUS – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
RAINBOW DRIFT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
CHANT NAY NEVER – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ROSEAMI – Raced three without cover throughout.
 
AND OVER AGAIN – Slow to begin. Steadied from heels near the 700 metres when over-racing. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
 
Race 4: BLAKE MACHINERY GROUP PTY LTD Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1000 metres
 
BELROCOS BABE – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
CHATTANOOGA LUCY – Slow to begin. Rider M Rodd reported the filly would be better suited to races over a longer distance than that of tonight.
 
BOOM CHUGGA LUGGA – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running until near the 200 metres.
 
ATLANTIC ROSE – Slow to begin.
 
DREAMALINA – Held up for clear running from the entrance to the home straight until a point near the 200 metres.
 
ME AS I AM – Slow to begin.
 
SHE'S A MITZY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the nearside nostril.
 
 
Race 5: GT PRINT Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1000 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 4 minutes when LOVE ME BROKE required farriery attention behind the barriers.
 
ZOU DER ZEE – Raced three wide with cover for majority of the event.
 
HAVASHOUT – Slow to begin.
 
MAHA MUSTANG – Crowded for room near 300 meters.
 
NITROGLYCERINE – Slow to begin.
 
BAMBALAM – Slow to begin.
 
MORION – Raced three wide without cover for majority of the event.
 
SPECTATE – Raced three wide with cover for majority of the event.
 
 
Race 6: SUNSHINE COAST FLOORING XTRA Class 2 Handicap 1400 metres
 
EPICURIOUS – Slow to begin.
 
PARANGAS – N Thomas, rider of DUBLE GAZE, was found guilty of a charge under AR131(a) of improper riding in that near the 1200 metres he directed his mount inwards initiating contact with PARANGAS in an attempt to force that horse toward the fence before continuing to direct DUBLE GLAZE inwards for approximately 300 metres to deliberately force PARANGAS toward the fence, this action placed PARANGAS in a dangerous position on heels causing that horse to be steadied away from the heels of ALPENDURADA and lose its rightful running.  The license of N Thomas was suspended for a period of 3 weeks to commence midnight 14th February up to and including 7th March 202. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account jockey Thomas’ exemplary record under this rule. Steadied from heels near the 500 metres.
 
ALPENDURADA – Held up for clear running from the 400 metres and near the 200 metres disappointed for run and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
DUBLE GAZE – Steadied from heels near 800 metres. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Momentarily tightened for room near the 300 metres.
 
 
Race 7: TAB LIVE SKY RACING VISION Class 2 Handicap 1800 metres
 
MAKEDON – Steadied from heels near 600 metres.
 
JERRY ZANDA – Began awkwardly.
 
D'CLONE – Change of tactics, to be ridden back in the field. Ridden accordingly.
 
LOPE FOR JOYA – A post-race veterinary examination revealed LOPE FOR JOYA to be suffering from a mild case of the thumps. Trainer L Ross advised Stewards the mare would now be leaving his stable.
