Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000 metres
 
ASTUTE – Began awkwardly
 
FURNACE ON FIRE – Rider B Thompson reported that he was disappointed in the geldings performance, in his opinion the gelding travelled comfortably throughout however failed to respond when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
SOCK'EMSID – Slow to begin
 
CRYMENOTEARS – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced greenly in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly identified minor lacerations to its off hind leg consistent with being galloped on.
 
MISHANI ESPRIT – Raced greenly throughout placing its rider at a disadvantage as he had to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions in the home straight.
 
TESAURA – Rider M Rodd reported that his saddle slipped on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
MISHANI UNTAMED – Raced greenly throughout. Near the 600m was steadied to avoid heels. Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
 
Race 2: LOVE & PARTNERS CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS Maiden Plate
1200 metres
 
DANEZEL – Approaching the 900m was obliged to race in restricted room for some distance. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
DOUBLES CHOICE - On arrival to the barriers underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race.
 
KNUCKLEBOX - A post race veterinary examination identified the gelding to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. KNUCKLEBOX shall not start in any race until the Stewards have received a veterinary clearance to include the results of an ECG and must trial to the Satisfaction of  Stewards.
 
BYTACT – Began awkwardly and blundered. Raced wide until a point near the 600m
 
KRAVITZ – Began awkwardly. Rider M Rodd reported that over the concluding stages the gelding became awkward in its action and as a result did not pressure the horse at this point. A post-race veterinary examination of KRAVITZ identified a slower than expected recovery from racing. Stable representative S Coghill undertook to report to stewards anything that becomes apparent which may have had an effect on the horses performance in the days subsequent to the event.
 
MAXCALEMMA – Shortly after the start was inconvenience. Approaching the 900m was obliged to race in restricted room for some distance, making contact with the running rail on a number of occasions.
 
CENTRAL AMERICA – Slow to begin.
 
KIMI – As R Wiggins was unable to make the weight, he was replaced by B Thompson.  R Wiggins was fined $300 under AR190(3). Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
QUEEN SAFARI – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages and proved difficult to ride. Raced wide throughout. Lost a near fore plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly did not identify any abnormal findings.
 
 
Race 3: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
ASCOT EXPRESS – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages and had to be had to be checked from heels near the 850m.  
 
KATANAROCK – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground. Near the 850m commenced to over-race and improved onto heels, shifted out and raced wide for the remainder.
 
KARAKA LAD - Lost its near fore plate in running.
 
MASTER TYLER – Near the 850m was inconvenienced and was steadied from heels and shifted wider and raced wide for the remainder.
 
SPRIGGER – Reared as the start was affected and lost ground.
 
PRINENTE – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly during the middle stages.
 
POPULAR DISSENT – Rider J Bayliss reported his saddle shifted back on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly did not identify any abnormal findings.
 
 
Race 4: MALENY HOTEL QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
TOOROOLOO – Began awkwardly.
 
BELISTIC MAN – Lost it’s near fore plate in running.
 
NICCI'S SPIRIT – Rider G Cartwright reported that she had anticipated settling closer to the lead however indicated that shortly after crossing to the fence the filly failed to travel. She added that she pressured NICCI’S SPIRIT in an attempt to hold a position to the inside of BACK WHEN however that horse commenced to over race when the pace slackened and shifted in, causing her to steady from heels and over-race for a short distance. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn and into the early part of the home straight.
 
THE SILVER LADY – Leaving the 800m was forced wider by PATTY’S FORTUNE which was taken out by BACK WHEN which had commenced to over-race due to the lack of pace.
 
BACK WHEN – Began awkwardly. Near the 800m improved onto heels of RAINBOW DRIFT and shifted out. Continued to over-race until a point entering the home straight.
 
PATTY'S FORTUNE – Forced wider leaving the 800m. Had some difficulties securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
 
Race 5: THE COMPASS INSTITUTE Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres
 
MONTEZ – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Had difficulty securing clear running during the early stages of the home straight.
 
KING OF THE DESERT – Bumped heavily on the hind quarters on jumping and became unbalanced.
 
CHAMPAGNE TOOTS – Slow to begin and shortly after was tightened between runners and had to be checked and lost ground.
 
COTTON FIELDS – Leaving the 300m was disappointed for a run between KING OF THE DESERT and MONTEZ which shifted out slightly. Near the 200m was checked when attempting to obtain a narrow run between KING OF THE DESERT which shifted out and SHINSHINTO which shifted in marginally under pressure. Stewards inquired into this incident and were not satisfied that COTTON FIELDS had established a run at this point of the event and ruled that the horse was disappointed for this run. Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the tactics adopted on this mare from the 600m onwards, after taking evidence from trainer D Vandyke and rider R Maloney to obtain wagering records.
 
SHINSHINTO – Rider T Brooker dropped her whip near the 200m.
 
MISCHIEVOUS LAD – Slow to begin.
 
HALLSIDE HOT STUFF – Raced keenly in the early and the middle stages.
 
RAMBLIN' MAN – On jumping was bumped heavily on the hind quarters and became unbalanced.
 
ROCK ON DESTINY – Slow to begin.
 
Rider L Dittman was examined by the Club’s Doctor following his ride in this event and stood down from his remaining ride. Rider Dittman was subsequently replaced by M Rodd as the rider of SHAIBANAT in Race 9.
 
Race 6: PERRY'S SUNSHINE COAST EVENT HIRE QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
The start was delayed when THAT’S MY OPINION lost its near fore plate en-route to the barriers and had to be reshod. Start was further delayed when WITHOUT THINKING lost its off hind plate when behind the barriers and it was unable to be reattached as the horse was fractious. As the near hind plate could also not be removed due to the gelding kicking out, Stewards gave permission for the horse to race with only its near hind plate.
 
BOHEMIAN BOOM – Over-raced whilst being restrained to obtain cover in the early stages, when unable to obtain cover raced wide for the remainder.
 
LOVE DEMON – Began awkwardly and shortly after was inconvenienced when BOHEMIAN BOOM shifted in abruptly.
 
THAT’S MY OPINION – B El-Issa the rider of BEL’S DESIRE was found guilty of a charge of reckless riding under AR131(a) in that when approaching the home turn allowed BEL’S DESIRE to shift out to obtain a position outside of BOHEMIAN BOOM and in doing so shifted when not clear of THAT’S MY OPINION resulting in that horse clipping heels and blundering. Jockey B El-Issa’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 1 month to commence at the conclusion of a careless riding suspension which was incurred on the 27th February 2021, that being midnight 17 March 2021 and to conclude midnight 17 April 2021.
 
WITHOUT THINKING – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Lost near hind plate in running.
 
BEL'S DESIRE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
PLAYING HOOKIE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages.
 
SHE'S A ROCKET – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground.
 
 
Race 7: COASTLINE BMW BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1800 metres
 
SOUTHERN SWING – Apprentice E Atkinson was reprimanded under AR132(6)(b) for her whip action, in raising her whip arm above shoulder height. Stewards also advised App Atkinson to exercise more care in relation to steadying the pace when in a leading position.
 
FAST TRAIN – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Stewards questioned B El-Issa as to whether he had an opportunity during the early stages to allow his mount to stride forward, which would have afforded him a position closer to the rail. He stated that he had considered this option however his instructions had been to attempt to obtain cover if possible and when leaving the 1500m he felt that he may be able to secure a trailing position behind FIORENA. However when this position did not become available he was obliged to remain three wide. Stewards were satisfied that given his instructions that B El-Issa actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took no further action.
 
QUOTANT – Apprentice S Tomlinson reported that he had anticipated being more forward, however after being caught wide in the early stages he had elected to restrain his mount to a position closer to the rail.
 
SID – Raced keenly during the early stages when the pace of the race was only steady and was then shifted wider on the track near the 1500m and permitted to stride forward to obtain the lead near the 1200m
 
 
Race 8: CONTRACT HYDRAULICS PTY LTD Class 1 Handicap 1600 metres
 
THE CHOSEN ONE – Over-raced in the early stages whilst being restrained to obtain cover.
 
DARING MAN – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
NEVER LOSE FAITH – Tightened on jumping.
 
ENSENADA – Began awkwardly. Over-raced early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination of revealed the gelding to be coughing post race. Trainer M Taylor was notified that she will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance with satisfactory results of an endoscopic examination prior to the horse racing or trialing again.
 
WHO SAID SO – Began awkwardly.
 
PLATINUM DEAL – Raced three wide rider J Adams was fined $400 for using the whip 7 times prior to the 100m, which is 2 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)
 
PRUNDA – Raced three with without cover throughout.
 
EARN OUT – Momentarily held up for clear running approaching the home turn.
 
 
Race 9: COASTAL VEHICLE SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Delay to the start when a buckle on the bridle of VERSETTO broke and had to be replaced.
 
SPARTAN JET – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
VERSETTO – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
EXTREME JEWEL – Reared as the start was affected and lost ground.
 
KING DINISTY – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
SHAIBANAT – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
IN GREAT NIC – Improved onto heels near the 300m and had to shift out to obtain clear running.
 
JOY'S REWARD – Bumped when rounding the home turn before having to shift out when entering the home straight to avoid heels.
 
DEEP SCEIVA – When over-racing near the 1200m was restrained from the heels of SO YOU SHOP which shifted in. B Thompson rider of SO YOU SHOP was reprimanded under AR131(a) for permitting his mount to shift when insufficiently clear. After being held up for clear running from the 500m made contact with JOY’S REWARD on a number of occasions when attempting to shift out to obtain clear running.
 
YU LONG SHENG HUI – Slow to begin.
