GENERAL
 
As Josh Adams was unable to fulfill his engagement due to being under the provisions of a suspension, changes were permitted as per raceday summary.
 
Race 1: CMBM TOOWOOMBA QTIS 3YOF MDN PLT – 1200M
 
BOOM RAIDER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
INTO EGYPT – Whilst racing greenly, shifted in near the 800m and made contact with KLENICE. Continued to race green for the remainder of the event placing its rider at a disadvantage in the home straight.
 
KAZZA'S JET – Began awkwardly. Lost the whip near the 300m.
 
KLENICE (NZ) – Obliged to race in restricted room to the inside of INTO EGYPT after pass the 800m and had to be checked.
 
THE LOVE ROCKET – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Subsequent to this event the track was retrospectively downgraded to a Soft 7.
 
Race 2: CMBM GOLD COAST QTIS 3YO C&G MDN PLT – 1200M
 
BACIO VINCENTE – Near the 800m commenced to over-race whilst being restrained from the heels.
 
CRYPTO TYCOON – Slow to begin.
 
PAPERCLIP – App. Huxtable was questioned as to the riding tactics adopted, given that the horse lead in today’s event which is in contrast to its established racing pattern. App Huxtable stated that he had not been given any specific riding instructions and he had elected to ride positive to assume a forward position after begin well. Trainer P Donnollan had confirmed he had not given any specific instructions, however was content for App Huxtable to ride forward in today’s event as the horse was stepping up to 1200m for the first time.
 
STUMPED – Jockey R Wiggins was fined $500 for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)
 
LEAVE ME ALONG – Held up rounding the home turn and entering home straight.  Returned from racing with blood in its mouth due to having lost a tooth in running.
 
 
Race 3: CMBM SUNSHINE COAST C2 HCP – 1800M
 
Due to the newly installed crossing the start of this event was moved forward approximately 10 metres as to avoid starting this event on the crossing.
 
ENRIQUE - As the gelding was late to course due to arrive on course due to transport difficulties, underwent pre-race veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Rider B Thompson reported that the gelding raced flat and was disappointed in its finishing efforts.
 
INCENTIVISE – Slow to begin.
 
ISABELLA'S SPRING – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
ALIRAAJ (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
STARLIGHTER – Raced wide in the early stages. Rider R Fradd reported that the mare did not handle today’s rain affected track.
 
TRIPPER – Slow to begin
 
Race 4: CMBM WIDE BAY MDN HCP – 1000M
 
The start was delayed when KICK HI had to be resaddled. The start was further delayed when GAUNTLET proved difficult to load.
 
GAUNTLET – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly in the middle stages, shifted in near the 700m and made contact with the running rail.
 
TRIANGULUM – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
WITH EDGE – Bumped heavily with KNOCKKNEE on jumping. Raced greenly during the middle stages and was steadied from heels near the 500m. Continued to be held up for clear running until the approaching the 200m.
 
KNOCKKNEE – Began awkwardly shifted in and bumped WITH EDGE. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight until point near the 250m.
 
SOUND OF SLEAT – Tightened for room on jumping. Raced keenly from the 900m to a point near the 600m.
 
KICK HI – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
AMAZENA – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
NOKONDI – Began awkwardly
 
WORDS UNSPOKEN – Began awkwardly and lost significant ground.
 
Race 5: CMBM CENTRAL QLD BM70 HCP – 1000M
 
WEONA SMARTONE (NZ) became very fractious in the tie up stalls and was unable to be saddled safely, was subsequently declared a late scratching at 6:34pm All monies invested on were WEONA SMARTONE (NZ) ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 6:34pm:
51 cents in the dollar for the win # 8 GOLDSBOROUGH
32 cents in the dollar for the place of winner # 8 GOLDSBOROUGH
43 cents in the dollar for 2nd place # 7 ALEYSA’S DREAM
 
Subsequent to the event blood and urine samples were taken from WEONA SMARTONE (NZ) for analysis.
 
Stewards gave consideration to whether any action should be taken in relation to the pre-race manners of WEONA SMARTONE (NZ). However after interviewing Trainer D Vandyke, Stewards were satisfied that WEONA SMARTONE (NZ) had become fractious due to loud music being performed on-course and therefore no action was warranted in the circumstances.
 
WIDESPREAD – Near the 500m shifted in marginally.
 
AIR SPIRIT – Laid in for the majority and particularly in the home straight. Near the 500m raced in restricted room to the inside of EASY COME which was taken in by WIDESPREAD which shifted in momentarily.
 
 
Race 6: CMBM FACILITY SERVICES RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HCP – 1200M
 
HEAVENLY ARCHER – Stewards inquired into the reasons HEAVENLY ARCHER was placed in restricted room and had to be checked near the 1100m. It was established that RENOUF had a tendency to shy away from the runners to the inside causing HEAVENLY ARCHER to be inconvenienced. Shortly afterwards LOVE ME BROKE shifted in further inconvenienced HEAVENLY ARCHER and a short distance later INDUCEMENT also shifted in and inconvenienced both LOVE ME BROKE and HEAVENLY ARCHER. Stewards in the circumstances were not satisfied to take any action, other than to advise both App K Cowan (LOVE ME BROKE) and App M Wishart (INDUCEMENT) to exercise more care when shifting ground.
 
THE RAGING PRINCE – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground.
 
HEYGERONIMO – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and obliged to alter course after passing the 400m to secure clear running.
 
RAMBLIN' MAN – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
RENOUF – Over-raced after passing the 1000m and had to be checked from heels. Continued to over-race in the middle stages.
 
INDUCEMENT – Inconvenienced shortly after the start and obliged to shift in.
 
GEM OF THE LOCHS – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground.
 
LOVE ME BROKE – After being held up for clear running rounding the home turn, attempted to secure clear running when passing the 400m to the inside of HEYGERONIMO and was disappointed and had to be steadied when that horse shifted inwards.
 
POSITIVE SPIN – Disappointed for a run after passing the 400m and had to be steadied.
 
NAKANAI – Improved onto heels approaching the 700m and had to be steadied.
 
Race 7: CMBM CAIRNS BM62 HCP - 1400M
 
Start delayed when STAY SMART underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of the rider and was passed suitable to race.
 
STAY SMART – Began awkwardly.
 
TIERRA DEL FUEGO – Raced three wide with cover throughout
 
MAHUSSEY – Tightened between runners on jumping. Rider R Fradd reported the mare over-raced badly in early and middle stages and as a result was unable to obtain cover and raced three wide throughout.
 
TOO HOT TO HOLD - Tightened between runners on jumping.
 
EDINBURGH – Significantly tightened between runners on jumping and had to be checked.
 
MONAAFASAH (IRE) – Change of Tactics – Trainer C Waller advised that the mare will be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Significantly tightened between runners on jumping and had to be checked.
 
JOY'S REWARD - Tightened between runners on jumping.
 
PALASZCZUK (NZ) - Raced three wide with cover throughout. Reported that his mount did not handle today’s rain affected track conditions.
 
DOOMANI (NZ) – Rider S Cormack reported the filly hung out when under pressure in the home straight.
 
CLAIRVUE SUN – Slow to begin.
 
RUBY'S LAD – Rider M McGillivray reported that his mount did not handle today’s rain affected track conditions.
