Race 3 - SURAT DIGGERS / VJ BUTLER MEMORIAL CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1400m
Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards considered an objection lodged by the rider of the second place getter, J. Missen (RULER’S PRIDE) against IMMUTABLE (T. Treichel), being declared the winner alleging interference shortly after the start. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing, the patrol footage it was established that IMMUTABLE began awkwardly, shifting out and made minimal contact with RULER’S PRIDE. As stewards were of the view that although there was minimal contact between both runners, they could not be comfortable satisfied that the inference would have affected the outcome of the race. Also bearing in mind the overall distance and where the inference occurred the objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared on the judges semaphored numbers.
