Race 1: Hygain Release QTIS 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1200m
 
TOY – After being initially slow to begin was then hampered by another runner, which shifted inwards, then commenced to race ungenerously for a short distance and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
JACK REACHER – Began awkwardly and shifted in, hampering a runner to its inside. Shifted in near the 1000m, crowding runners to its inside. Rider F. Edwards was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
CRAIGLEA CELERIO – Slow to begin before improving forward to race outside the leader.
 
QUEZMAR – Crowded for room near the 1000m and was momentarily steadied.
 
TENAKA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Race 2: Happy Birthday Merle Maiden H’cap – 1000m
 
EXPERIENCED – Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer T. Parry for the late declaration of F. Edwards as the rider of the horse. Slow into stride.
 
HE’S STIRLING - Slow to begin. Laid out for the majority of the race. Shifted out abruptly near the 100m before being corrected.
 
GROUP SESSION – Slow to begin.
 
POWER ‘N’ DESIGN – Shifted out at the start, making contact with the hind quarters of another runner.
 
CINEMATOGRAPHY – Bumped on the hind quarters by another runner and became unbalanced.
 
STRADIFY – Inconvenienced near the 100m by another runner, which shifted outwards.
 
CRAIGLEA TREACLE – Forced wider near the 100m by another runner, which shifted out.
 
Trainer T. Parry pleaded guilty to a charge under AR140A (1)  & (2) in that she presented both GROUP SESSION and STRADIFY to the enclosure with the incorrect saddles. In considering penalty Stewards took into account Ms Parry’s previous unblemished record as a trainer under this rule and her forthright evidence. Ms Parry was fined the sum of $500.      
 
Race 3: Happy New Year Open H’cap – 1000m
 
RIVARIVA – Bounded in the air as the start was effected. Rider dropped his whip leaving the 300m.
 
Race 4: Wedding Venues Townsville Turf Club Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1000m
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view the photo-finish for second placing. Subsequently Stewards confirmed the Judge’s semaphored numbers.
 
JETINTOIT – Slow to begin.
 
FLYING ONE MORE – Slow to begin.
 
STOLE THE SHOW – Began awkwardly and shifted inwards. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
WILL SHE APPEAL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
FINE ‘N’ DEVINE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 5: TTC Membership Ratings Band 0-55 H’cap – 1200m
 
SARABAH – Slow into stride.
 
DUTCH TWIST – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
KAHUNA – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
ROSCOMMON – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
DEACON BLACK – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 6: Australia Day Racing At Cluden Ratings Band 0-55 H’cap – 1200m
 
MEXICAN MOUNTAIN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CRAIGLEA SIMMO - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
AMULETO - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
GOING GREY - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
LADY MIRABELLA – When questioned into the disappointing performance, rider J. Stanley stated that as he was going to be caught wide he elected to restrain the horse in the early stages in an effort to position it closer to the inside rail, however, in his opinion, he may have erred in not allowing the mare to improve forward as in hindsight he felt it was detrimental to its finishing position. Trainer O. Cairns agreed with jockey Stanley’s comments. Whilst Stewards agreed with jockey Stanley’s summation, they did not feel his ride was culpable under the Rules of Racing other than to advise him other options may have been available. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained deep lacerations to the off hind leg.  
 
 
Race 7: Townsville Bulletin Class 4 H’cap – 1200m
 
SUPER SHOES – Began awkwardly.
 
PRETTY VACANT – Slow to begin.
 
VALUATE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
FEMALE OFFICER – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SOLAR BRAVO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
 
Race 8: Race Into Summer At The TTC Class 2 Plate – 1400m
 
UNCHARTERED – Slow to begin.
 
BALLERDEE BOB – Slow to begin. Was steadied near the 900m when crowded for room by another runner, which shifted in momentarily. Apprentice Adin Thomson pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A (5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner prior to the 100m. Apprentice Thomson was fined $300.
 
FLYING FERO – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
RANGERZANE – Commenced to over-race early and shifted in when being crossed by other runners and then raced ungenerously for a short distance.
 
SHARP DIAMOND – Commenced to over-race early when crossed by other runners.
 
EUCHARIST – Shifted in momentarily near the 900m, crowding another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
DONAVIA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
TRY BEFORE DUBAI – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
FLYING DUBAI – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
