Race 1: Star 106.3 Benchmark 69 H’cap – 1609m
 
SUPER MARIO – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start, dislodging rider W. D’Avila. Jockey D’Avila declared himself free of injury and was able to fulfil his engagement.
 
LAUDERDALE – Improved onto heels near the 1400m, having to be steadied.  Shifted 3 wide leaving the 900m, racing wide from that point onwards.
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow connections and stewards to view the photo-finish for 2nd place after BROKEN FINGER was totally obscured. After speaking to the connections and riders involved, stewards agreed with the Judge’s decision of a dead-heat for 2nd place and correct weight was semaphored.
 
Race 2:  Townsville Bulletin Maiden H’cap – 1300m
 
THREE POINT GENIUS – Slow to begin.
 
HONEST NATALIE – Slow to begin.
 
QUEZMAR – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and commenced to lay out leaving the 600m, shifting wider rounding  the home turn.
 
ZULU TUK – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
AGILITY - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
YES SAY US - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
TRIGGER – Rider B. Pengelly was questioned into his riding of the gelding over the concluding stages. Jockey  Pengelly stated he had difficulty obtaining clear running and was hampered when, in his opinion, GOING IN STYLE commenced to lose ground approaching the winning post, stating he did not have sufficient time to switch the horse back to the inside, and as such did not pressure his mount going to the winning post for fear of improving onto the heels of runners in front of him. Whilst stewards noted his explanation, he was nevertheless advised that stewards would expect a rider of his calibre to make better decisions in similar circumstances.
 
Race 3: Hunting House Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1300m
 
REAL STING – Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on its barrier manners.  Slow to begin.
 
LOVE ME RUBY – Slow to begin.
 
I’M NO SURE – Slow to begin.
 
SHROUDED – Slow to begin.  Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MAGMELLOU – Slow to begin. Hampered by another runner which was racing ungenerously near the 1100m and forced wider. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
BUXTON – Raced ungenerously near the 1100m, throwing its head in the air and hampering other runners. Trainer S. D’Avila was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
SPIRITED CHARACTER – Hampered near the 1100m having to be steadied.  Improved onto heels near the 800m and shifted wider, racing wide from that point onwards.
 
Race 4: TAB QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1400m
 
WICKED DANCER – Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer B. Williams for the late declaration of R. Shred as the rider of the horse.
 
DIAMOND ACCOUNT – Slow to begin. Shifted in near the 150m, bumping another runner.
 
BANK TELLER – After being slow to begin was bumped by another runner, which shifted in.
 
LITTLE RED COUPE – Shifted in at the start, bumping a runner to its inside. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SHUNTER – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained minor injury to its off side eye.
 
HOT TOP – Began awkwardly.
 
JUEUN IN NEW YORK – A short distance after the start shifted out, making heavy contact with another runner. Bumped when tiring near the 150m.
 
POETIC ATTACKS – Bumped heavily a short distance after the start, shifted out making contact with another runner.
 
MISTER MAGNUSIFENT – Bumped heavily a short distance after the start, becoming unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority of the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer S. D’Avila was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in a race.
 
WICKED DANCER – Improved onto heels near the 700m and was steadied.
 
OB LA DI – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 5: Channel 7 Open H’cap – 1200m
 
SEPTIMO – Slow to begin.
 
GREY MISSILE - Slow to begin.
 
BOLD SHOT - Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: Townsville Turf Club Great Northern QTIC 2yo Classic – 1200m
 
EL OF A SAGA – Delayed the start when proving difficult to load. Trainer F. Wieland was advised that warning would be placed on the filly’s barrier manners.
 
BOLD EXPECTATIONS – Began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping another runner on the hind quarters. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
LADY YENDOR – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping, becoming unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
RED SATIN – Shifted in abruptly near the 1000m, tightening runners to its inside. Rider C. Whitely was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
KWIKILLA – Tightened for room near the 1000m. Raced greenly when placed  under pressure in the home straight.
 
 MT PETER MISS – Tightened for room and lost ground near the 1000m.
 
REDESKI – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 7: CUB Class 2 H’cap – 1000m
 
COUNTLESS ROCK – Raced widefor the majority of the race.
 
FIELDS AVENUE – Hung out rounding the home turn inconveniencing another runner. Continued to hang out for the length of the home straight despite the efforts of its rider. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr S. Sigvart was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
PARK HUSSLER – Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out rounding the home turn. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
