Butler advised that after riding the gelding at its previous start at Beaudesert on 22 June 2019, he had advised connections that, in his opinion, the horse would benefit from a step up in distance and racing in a forward position. With no pace in the race today, the gelding obtained the lead, gaining easy sectionals in the middle stages, and travelled well in that position and ran the distance out strongly. Trainer L. Herne confirmed Jockey Butler’s remarks, and further advised stewards it had been the intention for the horse to lead at its previous starts, however due to the pace in those races was unable to do so. Stewards noted the explanation and advised Miss Herne that they would expect the gelding to be ridden in the similar fashion in future races should circumstances permit.
