From Cairns, 13.9.19 – Race 1 – The 3-Year-Old Maiden H’cap – 950m
 
Trainer T. Rowe advised stewards subsequent to the race that Rio was found to be shin-sore,  in the following days and has been sent for an immediate spell.
 
 
Due to personal reasons, rider D. Edmonds was unable to make the allotted weight on Trimmie Girl and as such was replaced S. Wiseman in Race 3, and by M. Elliott in Race 6 on Vandross when no other apprentice rider was available.
 
 
Due to transportation difficulties, apprentice A. Thompson was unable to attend today’s meeting and as such she was replaced in Race 3 on Enroe by senior rider M. Elliott when no other apprentice was available.

NOT A SINGLE DAY – Declared a late scratching at 2.22 pm after dislodging its rider en route to the barriers, making heavy contact with the running rail.  On the announcement of correct weight, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable:
 
5 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
8 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
11 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
4 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
Trainer A. Molino was advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided  prior to the horse racing again. Rider P. Cullen was uninjured in this incident.  
 
SIMPLE MELODY – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be shin sore. Connections advised it is now their intention that the that the filly be sent for an immediate spell.   
 
TOSCAVALE ROAD – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and was restrained from heels near the 800m.
 
UP THE RIVER – Slow to begin. Lost its off hind plate during running.
 
VAMPARINA – Jumped outwards at the start, making contact with another runner.
 
CRAIGLEA TOPAZ – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
CRAIGLEA LIZZY – Was unable to obtain clear running from the 300m until near the 50m.
 
Race 3:  Brown Brothers Maiden Plate – 1300m
 
TRIMMIE GIRL – Declared a late scratching at 1.09 pm when the mare was unable to be loaded onto the horse float to be transported to the course.
 
DISTRACTED – Slow to begin.
 
CHANDON KISSES – Slow to begin.
 
FANTIZZY GIRL – Slow to begin.  Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SEAMAD – Slow to begin.
 
ANIMAL SPIRITS – Stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground.  Trainer R. Finch was advised that he must provide a further barrier certificate for the horse before the mare would be permitted to race again.
 
NORWEGIAN WOOD – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 4:  Canadian Club Benchmark 65 H’cap – 1609m
 
LOVE ME RUBY – Slow to begin. Shifted wider leaving the 900m to improve and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
DANZ THE MAN – Placed in restricted room when the pace slackened near the 1300m when having a tendency to overrace, then continued to overrace for some distance, having to be restrained.
 
ELLE A WALKING – Raced ungenerously for a short distance near the 1000m, having to be restrained.
 
GUNGA GALUNGA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 5:  Hygain Benchmark 65 H’cap - 1000m
 
MOLONGLE FIRE – Delayed the start when proved difficult to load. Bumped by another runner, which shifted out near the 300m and again approaching the 200m. Commenced to lay in under pressure over the final 200m. Trainer B. Williams was advised a warning would be placed on the horse’s barrier manners.  
 
MAKE AMENDS – Slow to begin.
 
HARVEST PRIDE – Slow to begin.
 
BLAZING STEEL – Began awkwardly.
 
CHEZBLACK – Shifted out near the 300m to obtain clear running, making contact with another runner, and again approaching the 200m shifted out, making contact with the same runner. Rider C. Whiteley, rider of CHEZBLACK, was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
MAKE HER OWN WHEY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
BOYER – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 6:  Carlton & United Breweries Class 2 H’cap – 1200m
 
PARK HUSSLER – Slow to begin.  Rider F. Edwards dismounted the horse shortly after passing the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have resented the positioning of the tongue-tie.
 
WE’LL BEAT IT – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
WRITTEN IMAGE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 7:  TAB Class 6 Plate – 1400m
 
BOCHY – Delayed the start after it shifted its off front plate, requiring farrier attention.  Slow to begin. Finished tailed off.  When questioned into its poor performance, connections advised that, in their opinion, the horse resented the gear change of pacifiers and will now experiment with further gear while the horse is stepping up to a more suitable distance than that of today’s event. 
 
The start was further delayed when BOLD KINGSTON proved difficult to load.
 
PURE HAWK – Slow to begin.  Shifted in when overracing near the 1000m, bumping another runner.
 
ARNO BAY – Bumped by another runner, which shifted in near the 1000m.
