Race 8: J’Adore – W D’Avila was granted permission to ride the mare 1kg over its allotted weight.

Trainer W. Kenning pleaded guilty to a charge under AR251 in that he had in his possession a used syringe and was subsequently fined the sum of $500. Mr Kenning was advised of his appeal rights.


Race 1:LASER CLINICS AUSTRALIA RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP
1609m

AMUTHON - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after becoming fractious in the horse transport vehicle and was subsequently delared a late scratching at 10:45am on veterinary advice. Trainers representative Miss C McCann was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

POSITIVE SPIN - Raced ungenerously in the early stages.

PLEASURE BOMB - Momentarily steadied off heels passing the 600m.

LEFKAS ISLAND - Held up approaching the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Had further dificulty obtaining clear running having to alter course when awkwardly placed behind PLEASURE BOMB passing the 100m.

FUTURE DREAMS - Tired over the concluding stages. Jockey Whiteley advised he believed the gelding which was resuming after a spell would derive benefit from todays run.

BATTLE- Raced wide for the majority.

DON’T CHEAT CHARLIE- Raced wide for the majority.

YANKEE TANGO - Raced wide for the majority.

MOVING TARGET - Raced wide for the majority.


Race 2: TAB RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP 1000m

VJ DAY- Proved difficult to load. Trainer G Holt was advised a warning would be placed on the horses barrier maners.

MAKING SHADOWS – As T Chambers was not riding at todays meeting she was replaced by W. D’Avila. Slowly away. Raced in restricted room between runners for a short distance after the start.

GOLDIES ARCHER - Began awkwardly.

SUNNY COWBOY - Slowly away.

DANCE AROUND - Slowly away. Raced wide for the majority.

SHES MAGANDA - Slow into stride. Bumped by another runner which shifted in shortly after the start.

FORGIATO - Began awkwardly shifting in bumping another runner. Commenced to race ungenerously in the middle stages and continued to do so for a considerable distance.

BAUHINIA TED - Commenced to race ungenerously approaching the 600m and continued to do so for a considerable distance having to be restrained off heels. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

MOUNT COSTA - Raced wide for the majority.

ZULU TUK - Raced wide for the majority.

JUST A LOVE SONG - Raced wide for the moajority.

OCTOBER STORM - Raced wide for the majority.

KISS ME LATER - Raced wide for the majority.


Race 3: HYGAIN CLASS 3 PLATE (2) 1200m

MUSIC - Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after becoming fractious in the horse transport vehicle and was subsequently delared a late scratching at 10:46am on veterinary advice. Trainer Ms J Ryan was advised the mare would require a
veterinary clearance prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

OUR CHIQUILLA - Bumped with another runner on jumping.

MONKEY MAGIC - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Restrained off heels near the 1000m and again after improving onto heels near the 350m.

KANUI - Slowly away after beginning awkwardly.

ALL ZED AND DONE - Bumped with another runner which shifted in on jumping.Shifted in marginally passing the 500m momentarily inconveniencing another runner. Raced wide throughout.

LAST EDITION - Shifted in on jumping, bumping with another runner.

BATTLE CRY- Raced wide early.

TRACKMAN - Restrained early in an effort to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail.

VERBALIZER - Raced ungenerously when awkwardly placed on heels near the 1000m.

TIGER CAN - Was attempting to improve near the 500m when a runner to its outside shifted in marginally resulting in the gelding being inconvenienced.


Race 4: PICKERINGS CLASS 3 PLATE (1) 1200m

EPHESIAN - Restrained early in an effort to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail. Shifted wider soon after entering the home straight to obtain clear running.

DOUBLE DENMAN - Restrained early in an effort to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail.

TRAVERS - Commenced to race ungenerously for a short distance after being crossed by another runner approaching the 1000m.
LIGHTHORSE LAD – Jockey B Pengelly was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount to the finish of the race.

Stewards inquired into the reasons HE’S BLESSED was checked approaching the 1000m. At a subsequent inquiry jockey N Nelson (SIZZLING SUN) pleaded guilty to charge under AR 131(a) in that she permitted that runner to shift in when insufficiently clear of HE’S BLESSED (N Day) near the 1000m causing that runner to be checked and lose its rightful running. Jockey Nelson’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period 11days to commence midnight 22rd of August 2020 up to and including 2nd of Septemper 2020. In determining penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Nelsons record, her guilty plea and the degree of interference which was deemed to be in the mid range. Jockey Nelson was advised of her rights to internal review.

INTENSE FOCUS - A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Connections were advised that the horse would incur a 3 month ban from racing and must undertake a 1000m gallop to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to race again.


Race 5: TAB MAGIC MILLIONS TOWNSVILLE 4YO GUINEAS 1609m

Trainer G Holt and Rider L Tilley pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR227 in that HIT SNOOZE was presented to the enclosure with the incorrect saddle cloth number. Both were fined the sum of $200 (Negligence).

STUBAI - As R Wiggins was to be overweight he was replaced by J Stanley. R Wiggins was fined $300 for accepting a mount when overweight.

MOUNT PETER MISS - Slow to begin. Struggled to maintain contact with the field throughout and finished off disappointingly. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

HEY PAL - Slow to begin.

PANIAGUA - Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority.

TUTELAGE - Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey D’Avila was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) regarding his use of the whip over the final 100m.

ZIGGI ROCKS - Raced wide for the majority.

LADY YENDOR - Over-raced in the early stages.

SIDE HUSSLE- Inclined to lay out under pressure down the running.

SOUTHERN SWING- Jockey S Wilson advised that after being caught wide he permitted his mount to stride forward and assume the lead passing the 1000m. Checked when tightened for room near the 150m.Jockey F Edwards (SCENT OF FEAR) was found guilty to a charge to careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 150m he permitted his mount to shift in bumping heavily with SOUTHERN SWING which causing that runner to become unbalanced and be checked. Jockey F Edwards licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11days to commence midnight 22nd August 2020 up to and including 2nd of September 2020. in determining penalty Stewards considered Jockey Edwards record in relation to the rule and the degree of interference which was deemed to be in the mid-range.



Race 6: TAB UP & COMING STAYERS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 2000m

ARMS RACE- Began awkwardly.

RYOLA - Inclined to over-race when racing with cover passing the winning post the first time. Raced wide for the majority.

GREYCLIFFE - Restrained early in an effort to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail. Restrained when awkwardly placed between runners on entering the home straight.

CLEOS POET - Inclined to race ungenerously when rounding the 1600m turn.

TRIUMPH STAR- Raced wide for the majority.

AUTMED - When passing the winning post on the first occasion was inclined to over-race and shifted around the heels of another runner.

ROYAL ATOM- Raced wide for the majority.
PRETTY MAMA – Jockey Z White advised the mare had got its tongue over the bit in running. Trainer T Cook advised he will implement a gear change prior to next race start.




Race 7: TAB CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1400m

UNSHAKEABLE - Bumped with another runner, which shifted in on jumping, and was taken inwards making heavy contact with FERINGO, which was restrained, and continuing to shift in bumping with another runner. Raced wide for the majority.

FERINGO - After being slow away was restrained when tightened between runners which shifted ground on jumping.

HARBOUR TRICK - Shifted in and made heavy contact with another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.

ISILMO - Shifted out and bumped with another runner on jumping.

MAGIC WU - Began awkwardly. Restrained off heels approaching the 600m.

PURE HAWK - Restrained when racing in restricted room approaching the 1000m and again passing the 600m after improving onto heels.

HONEST NATALIE - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.




Race 8: TAB CLASS 6 PLATE 1000m

Trainer R Nelson was fined the sum of $200.00 in that he failed to scratch SIZZLING SUN which was dually engaged by the prescribed time.

BLUE PHANTOM – Lost ground passing the 600m when tightened between runners which shifted ground.

BREAK MY STRIDE - Laid out rounding the home turn tightening another runner.

SWEET PERFUME - Laid in rounding the home turn tightening another runner.

FANAAR - Slow to begin. Raced very wide from the 500m.

FULL RECOGNITION- Slow to begin.

CRAFTY COP - Raced wide for the majority.

STAR BANNER - Raced wide for the majority.

J’ADORE – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant findings.


Race 9. TAB TOWNSVILLE CUP 2000m

FAB’S COWBOY – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Over-raced for a considerable distance passing the 1600m.

BUXTON - Hung out rounding the 1600m turn taking charge of its rider (App E Cass) and shifting out causing KUTTAMURRA AL (J Stanley) to be restrained and SHIRANDA (E Smith) to be inconvenienced. Trainer L Donovan was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. Disappointed for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.

KUTTAMURRA AL - Restrained and when inconvenienced near the 1600m.

SHIRANDA - Restrained and when inconvenienced near the 1600m.

FOLLOW SUIT - Shifted out on jumping inconveniencing another runner.

TUNERO - Inconvenienced by another runner on jumping.

ROCK SPUR- Began awkwardly. Obliged to restrain momentarily approaching the 200m when a runner to its outside shifted in.

HUNTER ISLAND- Began awkwardly.

UNBIASED - Slow to begin.

LOUD ENOUGH - Raced wide the majority.

BUSTER BLOCK –Inclined to race ungenerously passing the winning post on the first occasion. Shifted in approaching the 200m causing another runner to be restrained. Jockey Cullen will be reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR131(a). Rider P. Cullen was dislodged after the winning post. After being treated by QAS Officers on course, Jockey Cullen was transported to Townsville Hospital for further observation. Stewards will inquire into the incident when Jockey Cullen is available to attend.

SHIRANDA- When questioned regarding the gelding’s seemingly improved performance Trainer J Manzelmann advised that in his opinion the gelding had not been suited by the track conditions at its previous start in its previous start and appreciated todays firmer racing surface. Stewards noted the explanation.


Race 10. TOWNSVILLE CLEVELAND BAY 1300m

The start of this race was delayed due to the incident in the previous race.

DEADLY CHOICES - Delayed the start further when proved difficult to load. Trainer T. Comerford was advised the gelding will be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

HIDDEN IN HEAVEN - Commenced to race keenly after finding the lead approaching the 1000m and continued to do so for some distance. Shifted out passing the 200m causing DALON (B Thomson) to restrained and MONSIEUR GUSTAVE (A Butler) to steady after becoming awkwardly placed between runners. Jockey S Sheargold was severely reprimanded as a result of the incident.

MONSIEUR GUSTAVE – Steadied after becoming awkwardly placed between runners near the 200m.

BULLION WOLF- Restrained when racing ungenerously passing the 1000m.

DALON – Restrained when over-racing near the 900m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running entering the home straight until near the 200m. Restrained to avoid heels leaving the 200m.

FRATELLINO- Restrained after improving onto the heels of another runner which was over-racing near the 900m.

DRUMBEATS CHOICE- Steadied off the heels of another runner near the 600m.

TAMBO’S HEART – Slow to begin. Performed below expectations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J Ryan undertook to advise Stewards should anything which may have affected todays performance come to light in coming days.

FRIENDLY DRAGON- Slow to begin.

TANGO RAIN- Jockey Pengelly advised that, in his opinion, the horse raced flat today and had failed to finish the race off as expected.

DOCTOR ZOUS- Raced wide for the majority.

BOLD ENDEAVOUR- Raced wide for the majority.

SPACE TIME- Raced wide for the majority.

Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow connections of BULLION WOLF to view the patrol footage of the concluding stages. After viewing the official footage connections were satisfied and correct weight was declared on the judges semaphored numbers.
