Race 1: HYGAIN Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
RICH PRINCESS -Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously early. Obliged to alter course and shift out around heels to obtain clear running passing the 300m.
 
TOTAL DISDAIN - Slow to begin. Inclined to over-race when crowded for room passing the 1000m.
 
NORWEGIAN WOOD - Began very awkwardly. Over-raced when placed in restricted room approaching the 1000m. Bumped heavily by another runner which shifted out to obtain clear running on entering the home straight.
 
HERSHISER - Slow to begin. On returning to scale Jockey W D’Avila advised that he believed the gelding had resented the tongue tie. Trainer P McGuire advised of his intention to remove the tongue tie going forward.
 
GOLDEN HANDS - Inclined to over-race in the early and middle stages.
 
SMOKIN’ TOMMY - Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
 
NALSSENDORI - Raced wide throughout.
 
LIGHT FIELD - Slow into stride. Shifted out rounding the home turn making heavy contact with another runner. Jockey S Sheargold was reprimanded as a result of this incident.  
 
GAME OF CIRCLES - Inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out rounding the home turn.
 
FLASH FOX - Raced wide rounding the home turn. Settled further forward than expected. App. E Cass advised her instructions were to be positive and not be caught wide and after beginning well and at risk of being caught wide elected to ride her mount forward to obtain a position closer to the inside running rail. Trainer D Amos verified the instructions. Stewards noted the explanation and reminded Mr Amos of his obligations under the provisions of AR100.

RUBY ROUNDHOUSE - Hung out rounding the home turn. Raced wide throughout.
 
SUPER DANCER - Began awkwardly.
 
Stewards inquired into the reason HERSHISER (W D’Avila) had to be checked approaching the 1000m. After hearing evidence from relevant parties and viewing the available patrol footage it was established that approaching the 1000m FLASH FOX (App E Cass) shifted in resulting in SMOKIN’ TOMMY (App K Swaffer) shifting in and away from that runner placing HERSHISER, which was racing to its inside, in restricted room. Both runners then continued to shift in placing HERSHISER in further restricted room and causing it to be checked. Both App Swaffer and App Cass were severely reprimanded as a result of this incident.
 
Race 2: CUB QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1000 metres
 
RIVERSIDE BLUES - Proved very fractious in the mounting yard. Trainer C Williams was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s pre-race manners.
 
HALF EVIL - Slow to begin.
 
DREAM OF DUBAI - Slow to begin.
 
CINDERELLA ROSE - Slow to begin.
 
LUCKY IN LIFE - Began awkwardly. Bumped with another runner on jumping. Bumped with another runner passing the 950m. Jockey N Day reported the gelding which was having its 1st race start was inclined to hang out for the majority of the event, proving difficult to ride, and was unable to be fully tested in the home straight as a result. Trainer R Chillemi was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
WATER WAY - Taken in by another runner, which shifted in on jumping, and bumped with another runner. Bumped with another runner passing the 950m. Passing the 200m, shifted out and to obtain clear running and bumped with DREAM OF DUBAI causing that runner to become unbalanced.
 
COLLOMBATTI - Bumped with another runner on jumping and shifted in bumping with a further runner.
 
DREAM OF DUBAI - Slow to begin. Bumped with another runner on jumping and shifted out. Raced wide throughout.
 
CONDERELLA ROSE - Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 3: PAYNTERS BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1000 metres
 
HOLY FREEZE - As the horse was resuming after a prolonged absence from racing underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Obliged to restrain after improving onto heels approaching the 500m and again near the 400m.
 
STAR BANNER  - Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
MICAWBER - Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Shifted out marginally on straightening, after securing a tight run, and momentarily placed BET ON LOVE in restricted room as a result. Was unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages as a result of being placed in restricted room passing the 100m.
 
FUNKY MUSIC - Raced wide throughout.
 
BEAU JET - Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4: TAB Class 4 Handicap 1200 metres
 
The start of the race was delayed when METRO MISSILE was withdrawn by order of Stewards at 2.47pm after becoming fractious behind the barriers and dislodging App E Cass who was examined by QAS Officers and subsequently stood down. All monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded in full with the following deductions applicable:
 
3 cents in the dollar for the win # (4)
4 cents in the dollar for the place of winner # (4)
4 cents in the dollar for 2nd place # (3)
4 cents in the dollar for 3rd place # (5)
 
App Cass was advised she will require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding and was replaced on her remaining engagement as per Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
UNSHAKABLE - Slow to begin. Shifted in rounding the home turn taking another runner in.
 
JEMADAR - Began awkwardly and bumped with another runner. Hung in passing the 900m inconveniencing HASTY HEART. Hampered by another runner which shifted in on entering home straight. Raced wide throughout.
 
HASTY HEART - Fractious in the barriers prior to the start rearing on several occasions. Trainer B Thomson was advised the mare will be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
J’ADORE - Slow into stride. Began awkwardly. Shifted in bumping another runner on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Performed below market expectations. Jockey W D’Avila reported the mare had raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A post-race sample was obtained for analysis.
 
VEHEMENT - Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout.
 
Jockey Z White was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR185 after pleading to changing her safety vest subsequent to weighing out.
 
Race 5: TAB OPEN Handicap 1400 metres
 
BREAK MY STRIDE - As Jockey F Edwards was unable to make the allocated weight Jockey A Sewell was substituted as the rider of the gelding. Stewards accepted Jockey Edwards’ explanation And took no further action.
 
LAST CHANCE - Began awkwardly.
 
CENTRO SUPERIOR - Momentarily eased passing the 1200m when crossed by another runner. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 6: MAGNUM'S CATERING BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1300 metres
 
LIGHTHORSE LAD - Shifted a near side front plate in the race day stalls and was attended to by the farrier. A subsequent pre-race veterinary examination cleared the gelding to start. Began awkwardly.
 
ACADEMY HILL - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 300m.
 
PANTONE - Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
URBAN MYTH - Bumped with another runner on jumping. Over-raced for a short distance after obtaining cover along the inside running rail passing the 1000m.
 
CAFFE ROMANO - Began awkwardly shifted in and bumped with another runner. Post-race was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. As this was the episode  Stewards, acting under the provisions of AR79, advised Trainer K Allender that the gelding would now incur a 3 month ban from racing and be subject to a satisfactorily trial in the presence of a Steward prior to again being again permitted to start in a race.
 
OSMOND - Raced wide throughout.
 
ABERRATION - Slow to begin.
 
CALCULUS - Slow to begin. Raced wide early.
 
THIS GIRLS ON FIRE - Raced wide throughout.
 
DREAM BIG - Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Jockey A Butler was fined $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. Stewards questioned Trainer G Bourke into the improved performance of the gelding. Trainer Bourke advised that the gelding which had been given a short let up subsequent to its previous race start  over 2000m had since had pleased the stable with its work and that a forward showing was expected today.
 
Race 7: DINNER AT THE TURF CLUB BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1609 metres
 
LEEFKAS ISLAND - Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
FERINGO - Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities
 
CANDY GIRL - Improved onto heels having to be steadied passing the 950m.
 
MORE GEE - Commenced to race ungenerously in the middle stages and continued to do so for some distance.
 
TRACKMAN - Obliged to steady after improving onto heels near the 400m. Commenced to race ungenerously passing the 300m and as a consequence was unable to be fully tested in the home straight.
 
Stewards inquired into the reason THE ABYSS (G Watson) was obliged to check approaching the 1500m. After watching the patrol footage and hearing evidence from the riders involved it was ascertained that approaching the 1500m DANZ THE MAN (A Sewell) shifted in marginally when being ridden forward taking FORGIATO (B Thomson) in. Simultaneously, MORE GEE (M Potgieter), which was inclined to lay out, shifted out taking THE ABYSS wider. Consequently, both TRACKMAN (Z White) and THE ABYSS were placed in restricted room with TRACKMAN having to be steadied and THE ABYSS having to be checked. As Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that any one rider was responsible for the incident no further action was taken. However, all riders were advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
Race 8: CALTEX YABULU RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1000 metres
 
ZULU TUK - Trainer E Sewell advised Stewards that his instructions to the rider were to refrain from using the whip in today’s event. Trainer E Sewell was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR100.
 
ROSE CLIP - As App E Cass was indisposed due to injury Apprentice K Swaffer was substituted as rider of the mare. Raced wide throughout.
 
MASTER AGAR - Began awkwardly.
 
NOBODY BETTER - Slow to begin.
 
JUST A LOVE SONG - Blundered shortly after the start.
 
A LITTLE BIT MORE - Raced wide throughout.
 
ROSE CLIP- Raced wide throughout.
 
COLD POWER - Slow to begin. Improved onto heels having to be steadied approaching the 600m. Raced wide throughout.

App M Potgeiter who rode GOLDIE’S ARCHER advised Stewards on returning to scale that he had sustained a minor injury to his left foot when leaving the barriers.
