Jockey S Sheargold pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount FUNKY MUSIC to shift in near the 150m when insufficiently clear of JEMADAR (App K Southam) which was dictated inwards consequently tightening MR RINDALL (N Day) and CINNAMON MISSILE (J Stanley) with both of those runners having to be checked. Jockey Sheargold’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence 4th October 2020 up to and including 14th October 2020. In determining penalty Stewards took into consideration Jockey Sheargold’s record in relation to the rule, his guilty plea and the degree of interference which was deemed to be in the mid-range. Jockey Sheargold was advised of his right to an internal review.

Race 3: HYGAIN Maiden Handicap 1000 metres

Jockey S Sheargold who was to be overweight was replaced by non-claiming App A Thompson as the rider of WHISKEY SUNRISE. Jockey Sheargold was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR190(3).

Stewards inquired into the reason STRUMAN (B Thomson) had to be restrained and made contact with the inside running rail passing the 1100m. After viewing the patrol footage and hearing evidence from the riders involved it was ascertained that approaching that point COLLOMBATTI (App K Southam), which was being ridden forward, shifted in and dictated the line of SHARINDI (App A Thompson) inward resulting in HARD EIGHT (App M Potgieter) being tightened and STRUMAN having to be checked.
