Stewards inquired into the reason SIZZLESUN (F Edwards) was restrained passing the 250m. After taking evidence from the riders involved and viewing the patrol footage it was ascertained that PAST READY (W D’Avila), when tiring, shifted in marginally, tightening SIZZLESUN, which was improving rapidly along the inside running rail, causing that runner to become momentarily unbalanced making contact with the running rail and having to be restrained. Jockey D’Avilla was severely reprimanded as a result of this incident. In determining penalty Stewards gave consideration to the degree of interference, the rate at which SIZZLESUN was improving into a marginal run and the immediate and significant remedial action taken by Jockey D’Avila.
