SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Townsville 15.01.2021
Race 5. Benchmark 65 Handicap 1000m
ALL STAR ROCKET - Trainer T Bannon reported that there was evidence of minor bruising to both of the mare’s front heels the day following the race meeting. Remedial shoeing adjustments have since been implemented.

Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1000m

HUSETTE – Shifted out abruptly on jumping hampering another runner. Raced ungenerously for a short distance approaching the 800m.

GOLDEN GROOVE – On jumping was hampered by another runner which shifted out abruptly.

MY SISTER SAL – Shifted out abruptly soon after jumping. Inclined to hang out down the running.

THIRSTY – Over-raced for a short distance approaching the 700m.

STEPPING UP – Slowly away. Raced ungenerously for a short distance when crowded by another runner approaching the 800m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a slow recovery rate.

Race 2: GOLDEN ROAST TOWNSVILLE Class 2 Handicap 1200m

GALAXY GHOST – Slowly away. Raced in restricted room for some distance in the middle stages. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.

MOSS THE BOSS – Raced in restricted room for some distance in the middle stages.

MIGHTY MARMALADE – Bumped on jumping by another runner which had shifted in. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey F Edwards reported his saddle shifted to the near side in the vicinity of the 550m placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

VARSITY – Shifted in on jumping and bumped with another runner.

Race 3: SKY RACING BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1609m

CLEO'S POET – Inclined to shift ground down the running.

STOLEN DIAMONDS – Approaching the 400m shifted out to obtain clear running inconveniencing a runner to its outside. Jockey D Smith was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a).

INDIAN DANCER – Inclined to over-race in the early stages.

BON RUBY – Became fractious in the barrier and was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2:47pm having sustained abrasions to both hind legs and was mildly lame in the near hind. Trainer G Hughes was advised that the mare would be required to obtain one (1) further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies wagered on BON RUBY be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers placed on the event prior to the withdrawal of the mare be subject to the following deductions on the face value of the betting ticket:

1st placegetter CLEO’S POET 7 cents in the dollar win and 4 cents in the dollar place
2nd placegetter STOLEN DIAMONDS 12 cents in the dollar place
3rd placegetter OWN SWEET WAY (NZ) 13 cents in the dollar place

NOBODY BETTER – Approaching the 400m was inconvenienced when another runner shifted out to obtain clear running.

NOTORIETY – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed mild dehydration.

Following the running of this race Starter Mr J Cullen advised Stewards that the rear gates on barrier 5 were damaged due to the fractious behaviour of BON RUBY and were rendered inoperable. This barrier was not used for the remainder of the meeting.

Race 4: MIKE MILLS PHOTOGRAPHY Class 3 Handicap 1400m

BROMES – Tightened between runners shortly after jumping when a runner to the outside shifted in. Inclined to over-race passing the 1100m. Restrained off heels near the 600m.

HOWYALIKEMENOW – Shifted in on jumping tightening a runner to its inside. Inclined to over-race passing the 1100m.

GREY TOP – Raced wide for the majority.

Race 5: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200m

APOLLINE – The filly which was resuming after a lengthy absence from racing underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Inclined to race fiercely in the middle stages.

DREAMING HIGH – Bumped with a runner to its inside soon after jumping. Inconvenienced soon after when a runner to its outside shifted in. Restrained when crowded between runners passing the 1000m. Buffeted between runners approaching the 100m.

PINNAROO – Raced wide in the early stages. Was inconvenienced approaching the winning post when a runner to its inside shifted out.

READY BETTY – Began awkwardly. Shifted in soon after jumping inconveniencing runners to its inside. Approaching the 100m shifted in inconveniencing a runner to its inside.

THE WAITERS EYE – Bumped with a runner to its outside soon after jumping. Soon after was Inconvenienced when a further runner to its outside shifted in. Raced in restricted room between runners from the 150m to the 75m.

BETTER THAN THAT – Slowly away. Approaching the 100m shifted out marginally under pressure bumping with a runner to the outside.

MARVELLOUS HEART – Slowly away. Raced very erratically in the home straight. Jockey N Day advised that the gelding had raced ungenerously throughout. Trainer B Williams was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

AWARE OF STYLE – Raced wide in the early stages. Shifted out approaching the winning post.

REFUTATION – Slowly away.

SMITHY'S HAMMER – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. Hung out from the 800m. Trainer D Amos was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

MAHKOTA ROSE – Slowly away.

Race 6: 6 TAB MAKE A DATE WITH PLAY OPEN Handicap 1400m

LANGHRO – Over-raced in the early stages. Shifted in marginally passing the 800m inconveniencing a runner to its inside. Jockey R Wiggins was advised to exercise more care under similar circumstances.

PROANE – Slowly away after beginning very awkwardly, throwing its head back and making contact with the face of App K Southam, who subsequently declare herself free of injury.

ZAMEX – Raced wide in the early stages.

JEMADAR – Inconvenienced passing the 800m when a runner to its outside shifted in marginally.

ELLE A WALKING – Raced wide in the early stages.

MARTIAL ART – Was inclined to race keenly when placed in amongst horses passing the 1000m.

Race 7: PAYNTERS Class 6 Handicap 1000m

REVENIRE – Raced wide in the middle stages. Trainer C Spry, who also rode the gelding, advised that he believed REVENIRE had come to the end of its preparation and would be recommending to connections that REVENIRE be turned out for an immediate spell.

THE MECHANIC – Dwelt in the barriers missing the start by a considerable margin. Passing the 650m grabbed the bit and raced fiercely for a short distance having to be restrained. Trainer J Dale was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

TABATHA MISS – Proved difficult to load. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that the mare would be required to obtain two (2) further, consecutive barrier certificates prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

THE GROOM – Raced wide in the middle stages.

Race 8: BROWN BROTHERS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1000m

HIGH DIVE – Raced wide throughout.

GOLDEN CHARLES – The gelding, which was resuming after an ease up, raced wide for the majority and tired over the concluding stages.

SHEZASHOOTINGSTAR – Very slowly away. Unable to muster pace in the early stages before finishing off fairly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

INVISIBLE GIRL – Attempted to buck approaching the 900m. Unable to obtain clear running rounding the home turn and until a point approaching the 200m. Trainer J Campeao was advised that the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being able to start in a race.

BLAZON TALES – Slowly away. Held up momentarily rounding the home turn.

MISS POWDER KEG – Raced wide throughout.

SER SER SCHON – Slowly away. Raced wide throughout.
