GENERAL
Due to a water quality issue currently being experienced in a number of Townsville locations, including the Racecourse precinct, Jockey room spa facilities were unavailable for use at today’s race meeting. Stewards, in consideration of the circumstances, granted permission for Jockeys, where required, to weigh out 0.5kg in excess of allocated weight.

Race 1: HAPPY BIRTHDAY AARON CURTIS QTIS 2YO HANDICAP 1000m

PASSIONATE EMBRACE - Fractious in the barrier. Marginally slow to jump.

ATTACKABEEL - Shifted out abruptly soon after jumping. Raced wide without cover throughout. Jockey J Stanley advised that after beginning awkwardly he endeavoured to obtain cover passing the 800m however when the filly resisted his attempts to restrain at that point, he elected to remain wide and travel as comfortably as possible. He also added that the heavier weight today also had a telling effect over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

CALPURNIA - Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.

Race 2: 2020 TRAINER OF THE YEAR – ROY CHILLEMI OPEN HANDICAP 1200m

New Trainer M Bannon will be advised a veterinary clearance will be required prior to next race start.
