Race 1: NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1050M

CRAZY GOOD – Jumped in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. Steadied near the 900m to avoid the heels of DEADLY ONE which was racing greenly and hanging out. Laid in when placed under pressure from the 400m.

DEADLY ONE – Hung out in the early stages and raced greenly throughout. Held up rounding the home turn, and then had difficulty securing clear running until a point leaving the 100m.

DEEP MELODY – Had some difficulty securing clear running rounding the home turn.

BLUE CORNER – Slow to begin.

WINNINGTON – Disappointed for a run and lost ground when SIN TAN laid out leaving the 400m.

SIN TAN – Raced greenly and overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid out leaving the 400m.

DJEBEL READY – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously for a short distance whilst being restrained near the 800m and, as a result, lost ground.

KASITA – Held up and unable to improve rounding the home turn, and then after shifting to the inside was disappointed for a run and lost ground.

Race 2: HYGAIN MAIDEN PLATE – 1110M

HARRY’S ME BOY – Tightened for room at the start, and then shortly after was buffeted between runners.

HARRYANDTHETIGER – Began awkwardly. Trainer M. Callaghan was fined $200 for failing to notify Stewards in relation to a change of riding instructions in that he had advised jockey D. McIntosh to ride the horse forward today which is contrary to the gelding’s previous racing pattern.

D’GREAT BEAUTY – Raced with its head in the air for a short distance whilst being restrained near the 900m and, as a result, lost ground.

MISS MELRAE – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.

ANOTHER SHEILA – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

MISS BARDOT – Raced wide before weakening and finishing tailed off. Apprentice H. English reported that, in her opinion, the filly felt short in its action in front. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Gillespie was advised that a warning will be placed on the filly for being uncompetitive. In determining penalty, Stewards were mindful that the horse was having its first race start today.

SIZZLING DIAMOND – Buffeted between runners shortly after the start.

Race 3: JOE WAGNER GROUP CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1640M

ANIMAL INSTINCT – Whilst being restrained near the 1400m, the saddle shifted forward on the gelding which placed its rider at some disadvantage and, as a result, the gelding took no competitive part in the race.

ROMAKASH – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

HOWICK – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer M. Kropp was advised that the mare will require a further barrier certificate prior to next racing.

Race 4: AG RIGGING BENCHMARK 62 H’CAP – 1300M

DIDN’T MENTION IT – Jockey R. Wiggins could offer no explanation for the seemingly disappointing performance of the mare. Trainer D. Vandyke could also offer no explanation for the performance, and advised that he will now experiment with the horse’s gear and may barrier trial the horse prior to its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be exhibiting a poor post-race recovery.

HOLD ON – Raced keenly in the early stages and proved difficult to restrain and, as a result, the mare was allowed to stride forward by its rider whilst racing wide to settle in a position outside the leader approaching the 500m.

DOMINANT WITNESS – Slow to begin.

Race 5: TWO BEARS MANS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1210M

BOZEMAN – Hung out rounding the home turn.

MONT MONT – Bumped shortly after the start.

SOARING ARROW – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

CAMBOOMYA – After being crossed leaving the 1000m the filly was restrained for some distance, and was checked to avoid the heels of MIYAKO ODORI approaching the 900m. Forced wider on the track to avoid heels near the 700m and, as a result, raced wide for the remainder. Bumped near the 250m.

MIYAKO ODORI – Connections advised that it would be the intention for the horse to be ridden off the pace in a midfield position today if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Steadied to avoid the heels of another runner near the 700m, and shifted wider on the track.

CANFORD TREE – Bumped near the 250m.

Race 6: TAB WINTER PROVINCIAL SPRINTERS SERIES (HEAT) BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1110M

HE’S A MORAL – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Steadied when placed in restricted room over the concluding stages.

QUICK KETCH – Knuckled on jumping away. Momentarily placed in restricted room and made contact with the running rail approaching the 900m when racing to the inside of OKANAGAN MISS (L. Tilley), which shifted in when not completely clear. Jockey L. Tilley was reprimanded as a result of this incident.

REAL EGO – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before being shifted to the inside to secure clear running.

Race 7: TOOWOOMBA PLASTICS QTIS 3YO CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1210M

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards permitted A. Fancourt, the rider of 4th placegetter, ENTERPRISE GRAND, to view the patrol footage over the concluding stages to determine whether there were grounds to lodge a protest against COCO MONSIEUR, the 2nd placegetter. After viewing the patrol footage, jockey Fancourt elected not to proceed.

UNCONDITIONAL – Steadied to avoid heels whilst laying in near the 100m. Steadied to avoid heels when approaching the winning post.

READY SET BOOM – When questioned by Stewards regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, jockey L. Cassidy advised that despite beginning well, the runners to the outside showed superior pace and, as a result, the filly was unable to obtain its customary leading position. He added that the filly did not travel comfortably during the race and blundered on a number of occasions. Jockey Cassidy expressed disappointed in the performance of the filly which he advised at this stage of its preparation would be better suited racing over greater distances. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SPENDING MY TIME – Clipped heels and blundered shortly after the start and, as a result, lost ground.

ENTERPRISE GRAND – Held up and unable to improve for some distance passing the 500m. Steadied near the 50m when momentarily placed in restricted room to the inside of COCO MONSIEUR (E. Ljung) which shifted in under hard riding. Jockey Ljung was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.

SPIRIT’S SILK – Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in rounding the home turn.

ESKDALE GIRL – Checked to avoid the heels of SHAMURT which shifted in near the 900m. Brad Stewart, the rider of SHAMURT, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 900m when insufficiently clear of ESKDALE GIRL resulting in that runner being checked to avoid heels. Brad Stewart’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 12 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 15 June 2019 and expire at midnight on Thursday 27 June 2019. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration jockey Stewart’s guilty plea. Improved onto the heels of tiring runners near the 250m before shifting to the outside to secure clear running. Improved onto heels when approaching the winning post and was forced to shift out.

COCO MONSIEUR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
