Race 1: KNIGHTS COMMERCIAL LAUNDRY CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1210M
 
The start of this race was delayed when BUZZER BEATER refused to load and was declared a late scratching by Stewards at 5.23pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on BUZZER BEATER be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 5.23pm:
 
12 cents in the dollar for the Win #3
5 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
23 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #10
37 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #1
 
The start was further delayed when BOOM ROCKER, which became fractious and kicked out in the barriers, was declared a late scratching at 5.25pm on veterinary advice. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on BOOM ROCKER be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed after 5.23pm:
 
5 cents in the dollar for the Win #3
3 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
12 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #10
15 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #1
 
Trainer M. Boland, the trainer of BUZZER BEATER, was advised that the gelding will require a further barrier certificate prior to resuming racing.
 
CARPE NOCTEM – Stewards accepted the explanation provided by Trainer M. Currie in relation to the late declaration of A. Sewell as rider.
 
BY THE LAW – Stewards permitted the late scratching of the gelding at 7.40am when there was no rider available.
 
NOT TONIGHT DEAR – Stewards permitted the late scratching of the mare at 9.00am when there was no rider available.
 
Race 2: POINDEXTERS PUNTERS CLUB CLASS 3 PLATE – 1050M
 
LEROY ROCKS – Slow to begin.
 
ACCUMULATED – Laid in in the home straight.
 
ABB ROY – Slow to begin. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn until entering the home straight and shifted wider on the track.
 
LINE UP – A pre-race veterinary examination revealed a bruise to the mare’s near fore leg.  The mare was subsequently declared a late scratching at 5.34pm on veterinary advice.
 
Race 3: CORCO MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M
 
ASKARI – Slow to begin.
 
I AM TEFLON – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which commenced to weaken from the 400m, revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer R. Kerwin was advised that the horse will be barred from racing at provincial TAB meetings until its form improves at country venues.
 
JUXTAPOSED – Knuckled on jumping away, and was then tightened for room shortly after.
 
KNUCKLEBOX – Apprentice N. Masuda accidentally dropped his off-side rein near the 200m, and regained it shortly after.
 
PIRELLI – Bumped near the 550m.
 
YAZZI JEAN – Shifted in whilst laying in shortly after the start and inconvenienced TINDER LOVING CARE. Bumped near the 550m. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
TINDER LOVING CARE – Shifted in shortly after the start making contact with JUXTAPOSED, and shortly after was inconvenienced by YAZZI JEAN which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
Race 4: GREAT NORTHERN LET IT POUR QTIS 3YO CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1210M
 
After viewing the Stewards’ patrol footage, Apprentice W. Peel, the rider of CRAZY GOOD, placed 3rd by the Judge, lodged an objection against INDISPENSABLE being declared 2nd, and CONQUER MEE being declared 1st, alleging interference over the concluding stages.  After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos Stewards found that whilst CONQUER MEE (N. Thomas) did brush CRAZY GOOD (App. W. Peel) on two occasions over the concluding stages, they acknowledged that jockey Thomas did stop and straighten his mount at that point, and that he had kept his mount straight for the remainder. Stewards therefore could not be satisfied that CRAZY GOOD would have finished ahead of CONQUER MEE.
 
Stewards were also of the opinion that whilst INDISPENSABLE (App. M. Wishart), did commence to shift out over the concluding stages resulting in Apprentice W. Peel having to take hold of CRAZY GOOD, they could not be satisfied that the interference suffered by CRAZY GOOD was sufficient to uphold the protest bearing in mind the 2¼ length margin between those runners at the conclusion of the race. Stewards therefore dismissed both protests and declared correct weight on the judge’s semaphored numbers. 
 
Nevertheless, Stewards commenced an inquiry in relation to the interference over the concluding stages.  After taking initial evidence from Apprentice W. Peel and jockey N. Thomas, Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a date and time to be fixed to enable Apprentice M. Wishart, who had been transported to hospital after becoming ill following Race 5, to attend the inquiry.
 
CLASS OF ROYALTY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
KWIKILLA – Steadied from heels when QUART POT shifted out marginally approaching the 200m.  Jockey J. Oliver, the rider of QUART POT, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.
 
Race 5: HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY SUSI CLASS 4 H’CAP – 1300M
 
The start of this race was delayed due to the protests following Race 4.
 
CONQUERMORE – Knuckled on jumping away.
 
SPIRIT’S PRIDE – Bumped THUMBS UP approaching the 1100m, and then shortly after got its head up and commenced to overrace.
 
LITTLE JOHN – Eased from heels near the 1100m.
 
LOUIE LA’JOY – Eased from heels near the 1100m. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
THUMBS UP – Bumped near the 1100m. Disappointed for a run when entering the home straight and shifted in to secure clear running.
 
Apprentice M. Wishart took ill following the running of this race and, after being assessed by Queensland Ambulance Officers, was stood down from her remaining engagements.  As a result, riding replacements were made in Races 6 and 7 as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Apprentice M. Wishart was subsequently transported to hospital for further observation.
 
Race 6: LIVING GEMS BENCHMARK 58 H’CAP – 1640M
 
PHOENIX FLYER – Brushed the running rail over the final stages.
 
PRINCELY SUM – Slow to begin. Hung out throughout. Got its head up on a number of occasions near the 1100m.
 
MR MISUNDERSTOOD – Overraced in the early stages and got its head up on a number of occasions approaching the 1200m. Forced wider on the track by another runner near the 700m and raced wide for the remainder.
 
GHETTO BOY – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
PEPPINO – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
PASTICHE – As Apprentice M. Wishart was indisposed due to illness, Stewards permitted Apprentice N. Fazackerley to ride the mare claiming only ½ kilogram of his allowance. Brushed the running rail when racing in restricted room near the 400m.
 
Race 7: PRYDE’S EASIFEED BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1640M
 
GIVUS A CUDDLE – Apprentice N. Fazackerley reported that his saddle shifted forward near the 1200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in its off hind leg, and to be exhibiting a poor post-race recovery. Trainer T. Sears was advised that the mare will require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming racing.
 
KING MAX – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and settled in a wide position until the 1000m.
