Race 1: WELCOME BACK TO CLIFFORD PARK RATINGS BAND 0-55 H’CAP – 1640M

PRINCELY SUM – Slow to begin. Improved onto the heels of LUCKY MACHU and shifted wider near the 1100m.

LUCKY MACHU – Slow to begin.

MONTE SANTO – Overraced in the early stages. Improved onto the heels of RED MONKEY and shifted wider approaching the 1100m.

MIGHTY QUINN – Disappointed for a run between STRYKING EMERALD and ZOLLIKON MISS near the 350m. Again disappointed for a run between RED MONKEY and STRYKING EMERALD near the 250m before shifting to the inside of STRYKING EMERALD to secure clear running.

RED MONKEY – Laid out under pressure from the 100m and inconvenienced another runner.

ZOLLIKON MISS – Weakened noticeably from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any abnormalities.

GET OUTA UTAH – Inconvenienced over the concluding stages when another runner shifted in.

STRYKING EMERALD – Blundered on jumping.

Race 2: TAB CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1210M

Trainer B. Gorman was fined $100 under LR67 for the late declaration of S. Lacy as the rider of KOTA FLYER.

KING DINISTY – Commenced to overrace whilst being restrained when the pace slackened near the 700m.

HAUTCLERE – Raced keenly approaching the 700m and shifted out to avoid the heels of CHICAGO O’BRIEN and then continued to race keenly for some distance.

PHOENIX FLYER – Commenced to overrace whilst being restrained when the pace slackened near the 700m.

TOUGH TIMES – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced wide throughout.

BEL BEAU – Commenced to overrace whilst being restrained when the pace slackened near the 700m.

KOTA FLYER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

TEQUILA BOOM – Began awkwardly. Forced wider by HAUTCLERE near the 700m and continued to race wide for the remainder.

HEAVENLY ARCHER – When questioned by Stewards in relation to the seemingly improved performance, trainer B. Brown advised that, in his opinion, the gelding appreciated the soft track conditions today in addition to the step down in class following its previous run.

LUVYOULONGTIME – Slow into stride. When questioned by Stewards regarding the tactics adopted over the concluding stages, Apprentice M. Kennedy advised that she was hesitant to take a narrow run to the inside of HAUTCLERE approaching the 100m as her mount was inclined to lay in across the heels of CHICAGO O’BRIEN at that point, and then again over the concluding stages the mare shifted in and away from HAUTCLERE which resulted in her being unable to fully test her mount in the run to the line.

Race 3: BRISBANE RIVERVIEW HOTEL BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1000M

EXCEED ROCK – Hung out rounding the home turn and in the home straight, and then shifted out and brushed THE BUMBLEBEE near the 200m.

DREAMALINA – Steadied after improving onto the heels of KIRRA LASS approaching the 800m. Jockey V. Venkaya was reprimanded under AR132(6)(b) for using an action that raised his arm above shoulder height. When questioned by Stewards in relation to the seemingly improved performance, trainer D. Trindall advised that the mare, which was second up from a spell today, had been working well in the lead up to today’s race. He added that he had been pleased with the mare’s first up run at Gatton on 12 July 2020 and, for these reasons, he had expected a forward showing today.

ESSAKA – Raced wide throughout.

KIRRA LASS – Became fractious in the barriers.

Race 4: MITAVITE QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1300M

MT MORK SHARK – Shifted wider to secure clear running approaching the 400m, and then shifted back in across the heels of WILD and was eased. Jockey L. Tilley was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip 7 times prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration the totality of jockey Tilley’s whip use.

READY TO CHASE – Jockey T. Marshall reported that his saddle shifted forward near the 1100m which placed him at a disadvantage throughout, and resulted in him being unable to fully test his mount to the line.

MISS BEAT – Threw its head in the air shortly after the start and lost ground, and then raced ungenerously for a short distance. Jockey R. Palmer reported that, in her opinion, the filly resented the use of the tongue-tie.

COMET’S ARCH – Commenced to overrace whilst being restrained approaching the 1000m and, as result, inconvenienced another runner.

DREAM CANDY – Inconvenienced approaching the 1000m and shifted wider.

Race 5: LIVING TURF BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 1640M

ELJETEM – Blundered on jumping and lost ground.

HELLAVA BABE – Slow to begin. Jockey B. Andrew was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on more occasions than permitted prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration jockey Andrew’s exemplary prior record in relation to this rule.

ROSENDAHL RED – Slow to begin.

TICINO BELLE – After assuming the leading position rounding the first turn, jockey T. Marshall’s saddle shifted forward which placed him at a significant disadvantage for the remainder, and resulted in his mount being uncompetitive over the concluding stages.

Following the running of this race, Stewards undertook an inspection of the gear used by jockey T. Marshall on TICINO BELLE in this event and on READY TO CHASE in Race 4 as his saddle had shifted forward on both of those runners. Stewards were satisfied that the gear used was in good condition. Trainer D. Forster and jockey T. Marshall were both at a loss to explain why the saddle may have shifted on both of these occasions and advised that this gear has been previously used without incident.

Race 6: AUDI CENTRE TOOWOOMBA MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

AND OVER AGAIN – Began awkwardly and shifted in making contact with MA DUSHKA. Bumped by FIDE ET AMORE on straightening and then hung in noticeably in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out. Trainer M. Frappell will be advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding for its racing manners.

JUST RAFFERTY – Shifted in momentarily approaching the 600m and brushed the running rail.

MA DUSHKA – Connections advised that it would be the intention to allow the gelding to settle and travel where comfortable today. Steadied from the heels of KICKS BOTH FEET shortly after the start.

BIG JAKE – Jockey A. Sewell reported that his mount raced greenly throughout.

FIDE ET AMORE – Commenced to hang in noticeably on straightening and made heavy contact with AND OVER AGAIN. When asked to comment on the performance, Apprentice B. Hatch will be advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.

KICKS BOTH FEET – Tightened for room shortly after the start when SEIZETHEMOMENT shifted in.

Race 7: ENTERPRISE LEGAL MAIDEN PLATE – 1875M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable Stewards to view the patrol footage to review an incident near the 200m. After viewing the films Stewards were satisfied that there were no grounds for an objection and declared correct weight.

ETHEREUM – Reared slightly as the start was effected. Shifted in marginally approaching the 200m and, as a result, tightened A GLASS OF BUBBLES and DYDEE’S GIRL.

RIVERKY – Commenced to race keenly and shifted out approaching the 1200m and was then allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader near the 900m.

BURN THE BOATS – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority. Apprentice A. Patis was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip 8 times prior to the 100m.

WAR’S END – Shifted out on jumping and tightened a runner to its outside.

DYDEE’S GIRL – Bumped with A GLASS OF BUBBLES on several occasions near the 200m.

LEICABLE – Slow to begin.

A GLASS OF BUBBLES – Tightened for room between runners shortly after the start when WAR’S END shifted out. When attempting a narrow run between ETHEREUM and DYDEE’S GIRL near the 200m, the filly was taken in by ETHEREUM resulting in heavy contact with DYDEE’S GIRL on a number of occasions.

Stewards inquired into the incident near the 200m in which A GLASS OF BUBBLES (A. Sewell) and DYDEE’S GIRL (App. M. Kennedy) made heavy contact on several occasions when racing to the inside of ETHEREUM (C. Taylor). After hearing the evidence and viewing the films, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied to the requisite standard that jockey C. Taylor’s actions were of a careless nature as at the time A GLASS OF BUBBLES was attempting a tight run in restricted room. Stewards therefore elected to take the matter no further.

Race 8: VANDERFIELD BENCHMARK 58 H’CAP – 2175M

IT’S THYME – Bumped on jumping.

LUVYOUANYTIME – Shifted out at the start and made contact with IT’S THYME.

Tilley, the rider of RED POET, was advised to exercise more care when allowing his mounts to shift ground. Jockey K. Yoshida was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on more occasions than permitted prior to the 100m.

SCILAGO – Made the crossing awkwardly.

RED POET – Overraced in the early stages, and then made the crossing awkwardly and blundered. Shifted wider leaving the 1000m, and was then allowed to stride forward by its rider and raced wide for the remainder.

FRASCATI MISS – Threw its head in the air on jumping and lost ground. When questioned by Stewards in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance, jockey S. Bogenhuber advised that the horse was hard ridden from the 600m and failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing. Stewards will contact trainer M. Nolan in the coming days regarding the horse’s post-race recovery.
