GENERAL:
After race 3 Apprentice L Kilner became ill and was subsequently examined by the Queensland Ambulance Services with App Kilner then being stood down for the remainder of her engagements. Changes as per summary.
 
Race 1: KENNARDS HIRE Maiden Handicap 1880 metres
 
GENERAL ELLIOT – On entering the home straight was disappointed for a run between REG ‘N’ KATH and TRIPPER which shifted out.
 
SHOTGUN BOBBY – Began awkwardly and shifted out making contact with GENERAL ELLIOT. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ANACHEEVA LAD - Raced keen early and middle stages. Near the 350m bumped by ROYAL GEORGE which laid in under pressure.
 
MADAME GRACE – Bounded as the gates opened and was slow into stride. Approaching the 350m steadied when placed awkwardly on the heels ROYAL GEORGE.
 
ROYAL GEORGE - Approaching the 1400m shifted wider to improve and settled outside the leader at a point near the 1200m.
 
TRIPPER - Laid in under in the home straight.
 
BLUE CORNER - Raced keen in the early and the middle stages.
 
REG 'N' KATH - Shifted out to improve near the 800m and raced wide for the remainder.
 
Race 2: SHANNON SIGN COMPANY BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1210 metres
 
VOULAIT - On arrival to the barriers underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of the rider and was passed suitable to race. Slow to begin.
 
TRAIL OF GLORY - Slow to begin.
 
MADDIARA - Approaching the 800m over-raced for a short distance. Approaching the 200m shifted out to obtain clear running and brushed with TRAIL OF GLORY.
 
COUP - Approaching the 900m improved onto the heels of BOBBY AXELROD and was steadied. Held up for clear running from the 500m to a point entering the home straight. Leaving the 300m was disappointed for a run between BOBBY AXELROD which shifted out marginally and EASY COME which shifted in when laying in and had to be steadied.
 
EASY COME - Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MIGHTY MOOSE - Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 3: MOORE LEWIS & PARTNERS Class 3 Handicap
1210 metres
 
RED BLOOM - Raced three wide without cover throughout. Performed below market expectations. Stewards questioned Apprentice L Kilner and Trainer M Sears in regards to the tactics adopted and the overall performance. App Kilner stated her instructions were to obtain a position with cover where comfortable, stating that the mare began well and a point near the 1000m, in an attempt to fulfil instructions restrained the mare to obtain cover behind the leaders. App Kilner further added at that point the runners to her inside had improved quickly and she was then positioned three wide throughout. Trainers M Sears confirmed instructions issued to App Kilner and also expressed disappointment. After considering all evidence App Kilner agreed with Stewards that once the runners had improved to her inside near the 1000m she would have been better served to allow her mount to stride forward into a leading position closer to the fence. Post-race Veterinary examination did not identify any Abnormal findings.
App L. Kilner (RED BLOOM) was reprimanded for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii)
 
HARRYANDTHETIGER - Leaving the 800m raced in restricted room for a short distance. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
INCOMPARABLE – Began awkwardly and bumped with KIRRA LASS.
 
KIRRA LASS - Bumped on jumping.
 
ELLA DIVINE - Bumped on jumping.
 
AQUILLA SKYE - Began awkwardly shifted out and bumped with ELLA DIVINE. Rider R Goltz reported that after being caught wide in the early stages, leaving the 1000m caught elected to restrain to gain a position on the fence with cover which was further back than he anticipated.
 
LIGHT CHARGE - Change of tactics - Trainer L. Gore advised he would instruct the jockey to endeavour to ride the mare further forward from the wide barrier today as opposed to its previous starts, circumstances permitting.  Appr M Savva reported that the mare began only moderately and was caught wide from the wide barrier, she added that at that point she had elected to restrain her mount to a position closer to the fence with cover.  
 
Race 4:  DAN O'NEILL MEMORIAL Class 1 Plate 1110 metres
 
 
READY FOR MAGIC - Near the 750m shifted out to avoid the heels of THE GROUSE.
 
SKILLED ARTIST – Tightened on jumping and lost ground.
 
MALAKAI - Tightened on jumping and lost ground.
 
STATEMENT OF FAITH - Approaching the 50m laid in across the heels of VINTAGE BOROSSA which shifted out marginally and had to be steadied.
 
BLUE HARMONY – Bound on jumping and bumped with SINGLE SKIP. Rider R. Goldsbury reported near the 800m whilst restraining to gain cover was taken wider by BY BY MUSIC which was forced wider by READY FOR MAGIC which shifted out to improve. Laid in in the home straight.
 
SINGLE SKIP - Bumped on jumping.
 
Race 5: PLATINUM ROOFING BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1880 metres
 
GOLDEN GOAL (GER) – Raced wide in the early and the middle stages. Performed below market expectations. App G Cartwright she could not offer any tangible explanation to the geldings disappointing performance other to state that the horse failed to respond to her riding in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination of GOLDEN GOAL (GER) did not identify any abnormal findings.
 
ELIZANO – After being caught three wide in the early stages was permitted to stride forward to take up a leading position leaving the 1400m.
 
KINGS ROW – Over raced in the early stages. Near the 800m became momentarily steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of GOLDEN GOAL (GER). Near the 500m was held up for clear running. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
NEVER LOSE FAITH - Near the 900m bumped with BASIL which shifted out when it improved onto heels.
 
SWING SHIFT – Slow to begin.
 
TIME STAMP (USA) - On arrival at the barriers underwent a Veterinary examination at the request of the rider and was passed suitable to race.
 
Race 6: STRATHAYR RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 Handicap
1300 metres
 
Start was delayed when CONGELATOR required its bridle to be replaced on arrival to the barriers.
 
CONGELATOR - App W. Peel at scales reported concerns with the geldings action. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be lame in both the near fore and near hind legs. Trainer P. Cartledge was advised a veterinary certificate is required prior to the gelding racing again.
 
SEMAPHORE GIRL - Slow to begin. Jockey J. Murphy (SEMAPHORE GIRL) was fined $600 for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
MISS MARGS - Began awkwardly lost ground. Near the 400m was inconvenienced by QUEEN LEAR which shifted out to avoid heels. App M. Savva (MISS MARGS) was fined $600 for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, which is 1 more than permitted. AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
QUEEN LEAR - Jumped awkwardly, shortly after tightened for room and lost ground. Leaving the 400m was steadied and shifted out when awkwardly placed at the heels of SECONDOFMAY which shifted out. Rider G. Walters was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.
 
TURBO TEDDY Jumped awkwardly.
 
Race 7: WIN LOCAL NEWS RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 Handicap 1300 metres
 
OSTERMEIER - Tightened between runners at the start lost ground.
 
KASITA - Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. When questioned about the mare’s seemingly improved performance Trainer K. Webb stated in it’s previous start at Toowoomba 21 March 2021 the mare worked hard to get to the lead and commenced to race keenly and finished off very disappointing. Mr Webb added that the mare had been working well leading up to today’s event and in his opinion was better suited ridden with cover. Stewards noted the trainer’s explanation.
 
FRASCATI MISS (NZ) - Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
WEARETENFORTYEIGHT - Near the 800m raced in restricted room when TYCOON PLAYER shifted in momentarily. Near the 600m shifted out to improve and raced wide for the remainder.
 
TYCOON PLAYER – Began awkwardly and raced wide in the early stages.
 
Race 8: HARVEY NORMAN COMMERCIAL TOOWOOMBA Maiden Handicap 1110 metres
 
On arrival to the barriers PIZZO became fractious and as a result dislodged Apprentice Wilson-Taylor and galloped for some distance and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 9:20pm by order of the Stewards. All monies invested on PIZZO were ordered to be refundedin full with the following deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 9:20pm.
 
16 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
17 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
  5 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
23 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
Connections were advised that the gelding must pass to satisfaction of Stewards in an official trial prior to racing again.
 
QWICK - After being caught wide in the early stages jockey R. Goltz elected to restrain his mount to obtain a position one off the fence at the 900m. Laid in in the home straight.
 
ENTERPRISE ELECTRA - Approaching the 400m was checked becoming unbalanced making contact with the rail and lost ground. Apprentice M Savva (BEAN DER DUN DAT) was found guilty of a charge to careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that approaching the 400m she made insufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting in onto ENTERPRISE ELECTRA (J Murphy) which was checked and lost ground. App M Savva’s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 19 April 2021 and set to expire midnight 29 April 2021.
 
MILLCHESTER - Shortly after the start bumped by MILL ROSSA. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ATOMIC FEATHER – Slow to begin. Near the 400m inconvenienced when awkwardly placed at the heels of ENTERPRISE ELECTRA. Near the 250m improved onto the heels of MILLCHESTER and shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
BEAN DARE DUN DAT – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
STYK AT IT – Failed to muster any early speed. Rider B Ainsworth reported that the mare began well and after being caught wide early she elected to restrain to gain a position closer to the fence. Ms Ainsworth added that the mare lost contact with the field for some distance however responded to her riding and in her opinion worked home well late.
 
 
Race 9: GET OUT STAKES Maiden Handicap 1110 metres
 
The start was delayed when STREETS OF PHILLY refused to proceed to the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 9:54 p.m. All monies invested on STREETS OF PHILLY were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 9:54pm.

PAROO - Shortly after the start steadied when racing in restricted room inside MADCALL.
 
ALL JEED UP - Jumped awkwardly and bumped with SPIN THAT WHEEL.
 
MY BOY DRAGON - Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground. Raced keen in the early and middle stages.
 
EVASIVE LIGHT - Began awkwardly. Near the 1000m shifted out and bumped heavily with ALL JEED UP.
 
GULLFAXI - Shortly after entering the straight bumped with SPIN THAT WHEEL and as a result became momentarily unbalanced.
 
MADCALL - Approaching the 200m was momentarily held up for clear running.
 
SPIN THAT WHEEL - Bounded in the air on jumping. Entering the home straight was held up for clear running and shifted out to improve and bumped with GULLFAXI as a result became momentarily unbalanced.
 
STREETS OF PHILLY - Declared a late scratching at 9.54pm after dislodging the rider on the way to the start. Trainer L. Hatch was advised the filly is to barrier trial to satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing or trialling again.
