Race 1: MAIDEN PLATE 1100 Metres
BUCK’S ME BOY – raced 3 wide throughout
HARBOUR SKIES – slow to begin, then failed to muster early speed. When asked to comment on the performance app A Bakos stated the gelding raced further back in the field than anticipated due to the fast tempo set in the early stages of the event. She added in her opinion HARBOUR SKIES is better suited to races over a longer distance.
QUATRO AMIGOS – raced 4 wide throughout.
CRAIGLEA LIZZY – after arriving at the barriers reared up and dislodged rider K Gates who was subsequently ruled unfit to fulfil her engagement by QAS paramedics. CRAIGLEA LIZZY was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 1.44pm with deductions of 23 cents win and 18 cents place face value of winning bets to apply. SPs are not subject to these deductions. Representative for trainer K Johnston was advised CRAIGLEA LIZZY would require a further barrier certificate before racing again. K Gates was transported to Murgon hospital for further treatment and will be advised she must obtain a medical certificate before resuming race riding.
Riding replacements for K Gates were made as per the race-day summary sheet.
Race 2: OPEN HDCP 1100 Metres
The start of this event was delayed approximately 20 minutes to allow a replacement ambulance to arrive following the injury to jockey K Gates.
VICEMAN – App H Phillips was fined the sum of $200 under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip more than 5 times prior to the 100 metres. In arriving at penalty stewards were mindful of app Phillips’ recent record under this rule and totality of whip use in the race.
AL’S BRIEFS – slow to begin.
Race 3: BENCHMARK 50 HDCP 1100 Metres
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow J Missen, rider of second placegetter MY CERTAIN, to view the photo finish image for second. After doing so correct weight was declared on the semaphored placings.
MY CERTAIN – slow to begin. Tightened for room and hampered near 200 metres when WARNERS LANDING (app N Seymour) shifted in when not fully clear. App Seymour was reprimanded under AR 131(a) and advised to make a greater effort to prevent her mount shifting in under similar circumstances.
WARNERS LANDING – inclined to shift in under pressure between the 400 metres and 200 metres.
WILD ELEMENT – declared a late scratching at 2:15pm when no other rider was available after K Gates was injured and became indisposed following Race 1.
WINDQUEST – raced wide throughout
Race 4: BENCHMARK 60 HDCP 850 Metres
MASTER DENHRO – raced 3 wide throughout
Race 5: BENCHMARK 65 HDCP 1465 Metres
CRAIGLEA CENTINA – bumped at the start
GRANDE CASADORA – began awkwardly and shifted in on jumping away.
