GENERAL

As apprentice T Wheeler was unable to arrive on course to fulfill his engagements in Race 5 and Race 6 due to transport difficulties, Stewards permitted riding changes as per the Raceday Summary sheet.

Race 1: WONDAI IGA & HARLEYS HEAVY DIESEL BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1100 metres

The start was delayed when CRISSCROSS was fractious in the barriers, reared and got both forelegs over the front of the gates. Subsequently was removed from the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice at 1.32pm. On declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets placed on CRISSCROSS to be refunded in full and the following deductions to apply for successful bets:

36 cents in the win for first TURBO TEDDY
30 cents in the place for first TURBO TEDDY
30 cents in the place for second SWEET VENOM

Trainer D Gardner was advised that CRISSCROSS would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to being permitted to start again.

HARAMAIN – Proved disappointing and finished at the rear of the field. When questioned, jockey K Yoshida stated that the gelding failed to muster speed in the early stages and in his opinion resented the sand kickback. He further added that HARAMAIN was up in class for today’s event. Stewards noted the explanation.

VALFIERNO – Rider C Rogers reported that the saddle shifted sideways slightly in the home straight placing her at a disadvantage.

SWEET VENOM – Slow to begin.

Race 3: HARLEY’S HEAVY DIESEL QTIS BENCHMARK 50 Handicap

Due to QAS personnel attending to this official the start time for the next race was delayed approximately 30 minutes to allow for a replacement ambulance to arrive on course. Race 4 start time was rescheduled to 3.45pm, Race 5 to 4.10pm and Race 6 to 4.40pm.
