Race 1: Elders Finance & Insurance Maiden Plate 950m


PETITE EDITION – Bumped on jumping.
GISELLE – Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping PETITE EDITION.
SPECIAL RECRUIT – Bumped on jumping. Near the 700 metres shifted out when racing greenly.
SOZZLED – Bumped on jumping.
TOORAK RUBY – Stewards permitted the mare to race in blinkers as it had at its last start in Mackay despite the gear change failing to make the race book. Began awkwardly and bumped with RAINBOW SPARKLES at the start. Held up for clear running until near the 50 metres and went to the line without being fully tested.
RAINBOW SPARKLES – Bumped on jumping. Eased from heels near the 650 metres. Held up for clear running until near the 50 metres and went to the line without being fully tested.
DE LOSKO – Took the first turn awkwardly and shifted out.



 
Race 2: Keppel Bay Sailing Club BenchMark 55 Handicap 950m
 
STAGE LADY – Stewards permitted the mare to race without the tongue tie due to difficulties fitting it. Delayed the start when the mare broke through and travelled a short distance. Underwent a veterinary inspection and was cleared to start.
KICKSTARTER – Raced wide throughout. Jockey M Gray was cautioned regarding his whip use.
BAGGER MUSCLES – Forced wide by another runner approaching the 700 metres.
 

Race 3: Hayman’s Electrical Yeppoon QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1100m
CHILD SUPPORT – Declared a late at 10:30am when there was no rider available.
LADYEYE – Declared a late scratching at 2:22pm due to acceptable reasons. All wagers placed prior to 2:22pm were subject to the following deductions:
13 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
12 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the winner
12 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets.
 
KEIRSON – Declared a late scratching at 2:58pm when the filly refused to load. Deductions were as follows:
7 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
7 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the winner
7 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets.
Trainer F Smith will be advised that the filly will require a further barrier certificate before racing again.
CHEAPY CHICK – Began awkwardly.
ATTIQUE – Bumped as the start was effected. After being caught wide approaching the 700 metres and over racing, its rider elected to restrain and obtain cover rather than being forced to travel wide throughout. Continued to over race until near the 500 metres and was unable to obtain clear running until upon straightening near the 400 metres.
MULLIGANS – Inconvenienced at the start.
NATIVE BEE - Inconvenienced at the start.
LOVE’S BEST HOPE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in inconveniencing runners to the inside. Raced wide throughout.
OUR GIRL FIFI – Raced three wide in the early stages. Restrained to obtained cover near the 650 metres.
  
Race 4: G.J. Gardner Country Cups Challenge Qualifier/Yeppoon Newmarket Open Handicap 1400m


GREEN EMPIRE – Began awkwardly.
ROCKSETTA – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running between the 500 metres and 400 metres.
JUST CALL ME LOUIE – Raced three wide with cover.
MR BOXVALE – Raced three wide without cover.
HEARTBREAK HARRY – When questioned regarding the below market performance of the gelding, App. T Doyle stated that after settling in a favourable handy position, horse wider on the course continued to improve resulting in the gelding settling in a more rearward position. App. Doyle stated that he had an uninterrupted run to the finish and was also of the opinion that the 61kg had a bearing on its finishing effort.
TURKEY BEACH – Over raced near the 800 metres for a short distance.
Jockey D Hayse, whose mount had finished fifth, was fined $100 for failing to weigh in.

 
Race 5: Star Liquor Class B Handicap 1200m


ZLOTO – Began awkwardly. Near the 800 metres, over raced and became quite ungenerous.
FAIRY WINGS – Raced three wide without cover.
MARQUANT – Tightened shortly after the start.
TOKAREV – Severely checked approaching the 800 metres when ZLOTO was in a three wide position and racing ungenerously, stepped in. A REAL GEM, which was racing to its inside, over reacted and shifted in abruptly tightening TOKAREV. As stewards were of the opinion that no one rider was at fault, stewards noted the incident.
