Bring It Home Pop on trial for Rockhampton Newmarket
Fourth time lucky for Richardson and Sweet Venom
When questioned regarding the horse’s improved performance, trainer L. Richardson explained that at the mare’s last start she was obliged, from the wide barrier, to settle further back than anticipated and was then able to finish the race off well. He added that today the mare was able to find a more prominent position and in his opinion the step up in distance to 1400m, combined with racing at its home training track, all contributed to today’s performance.
Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
Rolled in under pressure leaving the 200m and had to be straightened by its rider. Apprentice J. Grob was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.
Bumped heavily on the hind quarters near the 1300m and had to be checked.
Began awkwardly. Tightened for room at the 1300m, had to be severely checked and lost ground.
Slow to begin and then trailed the field for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer G. Osborne was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare.
