Million Dollar Chase champ in doubt for Origin clash
Shifted out at the entrance to the straight and made contact with a runner to the outside. Lost its position near the 200m.
Overraced near the 1500m and had to be steadied away from heels. Bumped on the hind quarters at the entrance to the straight. Lost the near fore plate in running.
Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.
On return to scale D. Browne reported that he noticed there was blood in the horse’s mouth. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had bitten the end of its tongue.
Trainer C. Waller advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden more forward if circumstances permit. Hampered shortly after the start when tightened for room and was obliged to settle further back in the field. Became awkward on the heels of another runner near the 600m and shifted in, bumping another runner.
Raced wide without cover throughout.

Bumped near the 600m. Held up rounding the home turn. Lost the near fore plate in running.
Raced wide in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward to take up a position near the lead near the 1000m.
After jumping awkwardly the gelding settled at the rear of the field. Shifted out abruptly making the home turn.
Trainer P. Perry’s representative advised that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. The horse will be ineligible to start for 3 months and prior to resuming racing must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.
Trainer C. Waller advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden more forward if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.
