When questioned regarding the run, apprentice A. Thompson stated it was his instructions to race in a forward position, however, after working to a three wide position he elected to push forward approaching the 800m to the outside of the leader. As a result, he was then reluctant to overly restrain his mount as it had previously had a tendency to get its head up in track work when being restrained. He added that he would have preferred to have obtained a position on the rail or sitting off the header, however, he was unable to do so and the horse thereafter gave ground in the straight. Trainer
