Stewart advised that it was his intention to ride the horse in a similar manner to that at recent starts and save it for a late short sprint, however, when SET THE BAR HIGH broke down passing the 700m and he elected to shift out to avoid interference, his mount was left racing without cover earlier than he would have liked. He added that the mare loomed up rounding the home turn, however, over the concluding stages proved disappointing. He further stated that having the mare exposed much more earlier than he would have liked may have had a bearing on its finishing eff

Faltered passing the 700m and was eased wider on the course by its rider before being retired from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained an injury to the off fore tendon and the horse was treated and bandaged on course prior to leaving. Trainer G. Duncan was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
