Passing the 1700m, obliged to steady from heels when the pace eased.
Began awkwardly. App. C. Frater-Hill dropped her whip near the 300m.
Slow into stride and obliged to ease when tightened for room at the start.
Rider elected to improve 3 wide approaching the 900m, however, shortly thereafter was forced wider on the track when ZOFGOLD elected to improve. Placed under hard riding and inclined to lay out near the 150m before being corrected by its rider.
Over-raced in the early stages.
After being caught 3 wide in the early stages, its rider then elected to improve to a position outside the leader near the 1300m.
Near the 400m, placed under hard pressure and inclined to lay in.
Near the 400m, obliged to steady from the heels of ZOFGOLD which shifted in.
Near the home turn, improved onto the heels of the tiring BON HENRY and obliged to steady. When asked to comment on the performance, App. A. Thompson stated that it was his intention to lead or race handy. After beginning fairly, shortly thereafter was crossed by two runners and settled in a midfield rails position. The gelding which performed poorly and tired noticeably over the concluding stages, underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities.
Poor performance. Trainer N. Rogers indicated that it was his preferred option to immediately retire the gelding. Stewards in assessing todays poor performance, also intend to place a TAB bar on the gelding.
