J. Taylor reported that after beginning reasonably, and as he did not want to be trapped three wide, he allowed his mount to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader passing the 1000m, but after doing so the gelding commenced to overrace and therefore he allowed it to stride to the lead and it continued to overrace for the majority of the event, which he believed may have had a bearing on its finishing effort where it tired over the final 200m.
