Callaghan explained that at the gelding’s previous start it was first up following an 8-week let-up and over a shorter trip, which may have been unsuitable for the gelding. He thought that a fitness edge second up today and a step up in distance to 1350m, as well as a drop back in class, could have been to the gelding’s advantage today. Mr Callaghan further advised that he had only a small wager on the gelding and was somewhat surprised by the win today.
